I'm currently in the middle of a Console Application. I have done everything and it's ready to be handed in. However, I don't want to hand it in like this. I want to build upon it.
One of the ways I'd like to build upon this is with an e-mailing system. I'm find it hard to include the e-mail code in to the project and would like to request assistance. I'm uncomfortable posting the full code on the net as it is for my A-Level Computing and anyone that is doing the same course as me will be able to claim it to be there own.

I need to replicate the ping in command prompt. I'm currently using the following:
Try
If My.Computer.Network.Ping(mtbIPAddress.Text) Then
rtbLog.AppendText("Response")
Else
rtbLog.AppendText("Reject")
End If
Catch ex As Exception
rtbLog.AppendText("Reject")
End Try
But I need to get the same response as the ping in command prompt i.e..

I'm programming in VB using Visual Studio 2005 Professional. I have a code munger perl script that generates some of the *.vb files that I want to compile. The script and the associated files are in my project directory, and when I run the script from the OS command prompt, it writes the files in the same directory, which is what I want. Rather than do this, I want to invoke the perl script as a pre-build event. I've gotten it to work ... almost. The only issue now is that the files are now deposited in TargetDir (/bin/Release e.g.) instead of ProjectDir. I could just change TargetDir to be ProjectDir, but that seems like I'm asking for trouble. Is there a way to separately specify the target directory for pre-build commands? Or change it to ProjectDir, then change it back after I'm done with the pre-build?

I've got a program where the insert/update SQL was created with the values coded directly into the SQL string. I've changed this to use the Command's Parameters.AddWithValue method and all worked well. I'm now in the process of separating the data access code out into it's own class. I've got the Select code working using a DataSet in the form that I pass ByRef to my data class so it can populate or refresh it. My sticking point is in how to pass the parameters for the Insert/Update commands to the class since from the form I no longer have access to a Command object. Do I need to make the Command object in the data access class available to the form?

I've found alot of examples for add/edit/delete a single table. In VB6 ADO you could load multiple tables into a recordset using the join command. Then manipulate or modify the data.
I've found how to retreive multiple tables like,
Da = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("Select groups.groupid,groups.userid,lots.groupid,lots.lotid from groups inner join lots on groups.groupid=lots.groupid order by groups.groupid asc", DB) But the only way I have found to update is to use seperate Update commands for each table.

First let me say that I am not sure whether or not this should go in this section or the API section, and if it needs to be moved I apologize. My issue is fairly straight forward, but for some reason I cannot get it to work.
I am trying to send a command to a command line and then submit the command. I have been trying without success to get this to work in v2008 Express and v2010 Express, Here is the code I am trying to us:

ByVal lpClassName As String, _
ByVal lpWindowName As String _

I'm trying to add information to a SQL database. I've had trouble getting it to update (and I'm only doing one entry at a time!). However, even one at a time gives me trouble. The red line of code gives me this error: Update requires a valid InsertCommand when passed DataRow collection with new rows. what I'm doing wrong--I think it may be syntax, but I'm think the parameters are correct.

I have a problem with the code below as a SQL command string. Note: Using .Net Framework 4.0 in Visual Studio 10 Professional. Database is a Microsoft Access file. The idea is that this SQL command string will update a password within my database. Also note that I have tried the string below with and without the ";" at the end and it does not work either way. The problem is most likely extremely obvious, but I can't seem to find it. I have commented below the code what each part of the String is.
"UPDATE Users SET Password='" & tbx1.Text & "' WHERE Username = '" & sUsername & "';"
' Users is my Table name within the Database.
' Password is the field that I want to edit within the Users table.
' tbx1.Text is where the password is stored within a text box.
' Username is the field which I would like to compare with sUsername which is a variable within the code.
Solution was square brackets, Command string now looks like this:
"UPDATE Users SET [Password]='" & tbx1.Text & "' WHERE [Username]= '" & sUsername & "'"
