VS 2008 : Getting Keys To Associate With Buttons?

Oct 29, 2009

I'm doing a school project in VB 2008 and I'm trying to get the buttons on the form to activate when you hit a given key. Like if I hit the "1" key, either on the numberpad or the keyboard, the "1" button would activate. I've tried the KeyDown method without sucess, but that might just be my code...The teacher suggested I use a txtbox instead of a lable for a display and then just disable all but number keys (which I can do, but that creates other problems with the input). I just want to be able to hit a given key, and have it correspond to a specific button. [And I can't use the ampersand hotkey thing... it underlines the txt in the button and makes it look ugly and it doesn't work with special characters]

Avoid The Program By Create New Folders With Same Dll Files Name?

May 26, 2009

I am creating a form with the resources which I am creating a programming with languages. I have created three resources which the one that are ZH-CH (Chinese), el-GR (Greece) and en-US (English-United States). I have also built some texts in the resources so I have debugged the program. Everything seen to be is fine, but I find that some weird stuff in the project bin folder. I found that the program has created three folders (ZH-CH, el-GR and en-US) with the dll file in each folder (Project1.resources.dll), I have renamed each dll files name with each different name and I have moved them in the bin folder, so I have deleted three folders. I ran the program again and they have created the new same folders with the same name where it was.

I want to use the same dll files that I have renamed (like each of these: English.dll, Greek.dll and Chinese.dll) without placing them in the resources folder. Id find it so impossible to avoid the program by creating these new folders with the same dll files name without using the files that I have renamed them and placed in the project bin folder. do to find out where the information in VB.Net application that are making the program to create the folders with the same dll files name (project1.resources.dll)?

Install .rtf Files In Folders When Building/publishing/installing Program?

Oct 18, 2010

I could not figure out the key to installing folders/subfolders/.rtf files during deployment/installation. The key here is to 'add' folders and subfolders to the project in solution explorer, then adding existing item (.text (.rtf files in my case) files) then selecting the .rtf file in solution explorer.go to its properties and under 'Build Action' select 'Content' (very Important!). Then under 'Copy to Output' select 'Copy if newer'!Then in code to access these files you use the following code:

Me.RichTextBoxDisplay.LoadFile(Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, "KJV BibleOTExodusExodus KJV.rtf"))

Finally after 3 days of research and 2 days at the msdn forum picking peoples minds (smarter than mine) and lots of prayer, I got it!

Deployment :: Setup & Deployment - Copy/import 2 Folders And There Sub-files/folders Into S&d Project?

May 7, 2012

Have built a project and associated it with a Setup&Deployment Project. The S&D project needs to contain 2 main folders (under User's Desktop) with various formats of files (xmls, txts, dlls) inside them and several subfolders. How can i copy/import these 2 folders and there sub-files/folders into my s&d project?

When adding them in the usual way, they are copied and defined a source path onto the current pc. You can understand what errors this might create when an another targeted pc does not contain those files to the exact location. Is there any way to copy them locally or somehow import them?

Listview.listitem.add "somestring", "somestring".

For the application I am using this in, I cannot have duplicate item.text so I would make the key the same as the string. this also made accessing the item easier since I didn't have to rely on index to update the subitems.
