View 4 RepliesI have a program that calculates values of a function, say f, with respect to another variable, say L.I have an array of f(L), for L going from 0 to a given integer value, say t-1 in steps of a value i.I need to export the values of this function to an Excel spreadsheet in a given column, and to do this, I would like to re-index the function f, since i is much less than one, and so the following loop I use (see below) won't work:

Sheet.Cells(L + 1, 2) = f(L)
Next L
The first code in the loop will essentially load the values of L itself, at which the function is defined and calculated, and the next line will load the values of the function at each value of L.Since the indexes of the row and columns in an excel spreadsheet only go in steps of 1, I need to convert the indexes of the function, or the indexes to which L is loaded, so that it would be scaled so that the first entry corresponds to L=0, but the next is L=i, but loaded into row number 2, etc.
I'm having trouble inputting data in to an array. The first input is fine but after that it just overwrites the first input. i tried to write it so that it would increase the array index by one each time but it hasn't worked.[code]

I just recently started getting an index out of bounds error on one of my arrays at runtime. I was not having this issue previously. It only seems to happen when several items are added to a listbox.
Here is my declaration and code.

Index was outside the bounds of the array.
In my example, i use a class array to which I assign values looping through textboxes in my form. Using the button Store (btnStore) the values are perfectly assigned to the array (i use an msgbox to check).The problem is that when i created another button (btnTest) to test if these values can be read outside the btnstore code, I get an error (NullReferenceException unhandled) which informs me to use the new keyword (cannot be used with arrays).I suppose the same applies when trying to access the array from another form. The question is how can i assign the values to the array "forever" and be accessed from "everywhere" in my program ?(tried public, friend, redim preserve the array with no luck).

I am coding a program for a movie trivia game that randomly shows a movie quote and the the user selects a movie name from a combo box that matches. I used a array for the movie quotes and a comboBox for the movie names. I have coded a portion of the program but I am stuck on how to compare the array quote being shown to what movie the user selects from the comboBox. I have tried numerous different things but none seem to work right. The way I have it coded now it shows that every movie I pick that it is right even if it is wrong. I have one user that is having a problem with my application, the error report shows an event type of clr203r and an index out of range exception. From what I've read this seems to have "something" to do with arrays or lists. (What that something is, so far, is beyond me or anything I've researched). I do have one array in my program -- myarray(13) as byte and I do have the syntax right as far as noting 20 elements in it. in my other bits of code.
I'm reading those bytes in the serial port, deciphering them and performing some actions. (to be vague). But just with what I've said, can anyone point me to a possible problem? Is the index out of range exception ALWAYS concerned with just arrays or lists? Or could it be something else?

View 4 RepliesI've got the web browser with tabs in all working fine, but there's one bug, i can add tabs, delete em, etc.. but when i delete a tab then go to create a new tab, it gives me the error: InvalidArgument=Value of '6' is not valid for 'index'. I have been searching everywhere but I am unable to find a reference to what I need.I have a huge number of entries where each entry is composed of three long numbers:

in my algorithm I will find that I need to disregard values in column a which will then lead me to disregard values in column b. I initially thought that I may want to use three arrays and just change the disregarded value to a null value with each iteration. find function that would allow me to not have to loop through the entire array every time.This lead me to want to define the columns as lists where I could remove specific values from the list and reduce the size of the list with each iteration of the algorithm. The problem then is how do I say, listb.remove(8) and at the same time have the corresponding values for lista(1) and listc(12) removed?

I'm running into a little problem with a gridview and a dropdownlist. I can get the dropdownlist to load initially, but when it autopostback's it returns with no value. I am populating the dropdownlist in the RowEditing sub. I'm guessing that I must somehow rebind in the RowDataBound sub, but don't know how to go about it. If I try to find the control's SelectedValue I end up with nothing.
