I should first mention that i'm somewhat of a newbie in VB, i come from C++ (not visual)I want to make a Calendar that i will be able to populate with schedule of people and projects.Each day will have several records of person , project, hours and next to each record i would like to put Edit and Delete buttons.
and eventually i will need to calculate what each person did and so on. What i'm asking is should i do it in VB, or MS Access, or Excel ? and explain why.Should i make my own control? if so can someone send me links for tutorial of how to make a control. I found project in MS Access for a Event Calendar but that doesn't ..

The Calendar control (the Month Calendar) control in VB 2008. I am creating an attendance timesheet and I want the Calendar to color each date differently like e.g An employee Paul is selected from a list.
On the calendar I select the month. (The dates are not supposed to be selectable). Then lets say it is June. He is late on the 1st and the Second, so those days are supposed to be colored red (the whole block). Let's also say he is absent on the fourth and so I want that date to be coloured black. How do I do this? I tried finding a query and my friend told me that this functionality is not available in the current control and that I was best off making my own control (???).
I have tried selecting specific dates and bolding them (there is a function that allows this) but I am stumped trying to find two different ways to differentiate colours. Second:- How do I link a calendar with an Access Database?

I'm coming to the conclusion that the things I want to do in a database are better done if I run a conversion code from Excel to Access, do mighty things in Access, then have the option of converting back to Excel to distribute elsewhere. I'm already familiar with using Access and the code I keep finding in threads almost always refers to .mdb files. Below is a conversion that does not seem to work (button2). I'm trying to do this through ADO with OleDb connections. If I can convert to Access much will make sense.

I'm trying to use the System.Windows.Forms.MonthCalendar control within a VSTO Excel workbook. I want the MonthCalendar to pop up when I click a button in the ribbon, but so far I can't get the control to display at all.

I am in the process of creating an excel add-in.As the default value for one of my form textboxes, I would like to use the excel active worksheet name. I just made a code to convert data from excel to access.
I encounter an error every time that I try to make the convertion.
This is the error:
'Sheet1 $' is not a valid name. Make sure where this does not include characters or punctuation marks are not valid and does not too long.
I have to mention that I have Office 12 (2007) that is not in English!

I am trying to find a way to use a month calendar control as an object data source, such that when end user selects a given date, or a date range (1 week max), it will supply the date range criteria for an access query, and the results will wind up displaying in a data grid view below the month calendar. I am having a really hard time..

using the calendar from the webfor tools, NOT CALENDAR EXTENDER, and my question is, is there a way to add text to a specific day of the calendar, for example, that i want to click on the number where its shows 29 of the month december, then it shows me a texbox or anything that takes data from my, and i type anything in there, like an event or something, then i click on a button to save my entry, and next time i visit my page i see that day that i clicked on changed its color and shows my text when i hoover the mouse on top of it,

I'm developing a finance software and I want the user to enter a bill and pick the due date via month calendar. I'm changing the backcolor of the monthcalendar to 208; 211; 217, but the backcolor of the monthcalendar doesn't turn "grey" according the given RGB. Instead it stays white.

I want to create a calendar control to display employees vacation schedules for the year. It could be either monthly or scrolling weekly. It will draw its data from Access. I'm just looking for some general input on how some others might accomplish this. I know there are some paid options but my boss said I am on a $0 budget. A couple of ideas I had are:
1. Make a monthly view comprised of labels and textboxes for the actual dates. Populate the texboxes with a series of sql statements
2. Use a datagridview bound to a crosstab query, but I don't know how to have the datagridview show one week after the other.

trying to write a simple app that queries an access DB based on date .. the SQL looks like this and works fine with a date hard wired into the select:
SELECT Terminal_ID, SUM(Transaction_Quantity) AS Total
FROM tblTransaction
WHERE (TransactionType_ID = 3) AND (Transaction_DateTime > #1/1/2009#)
GROUP BY Terminal_ID
On the main form I have a monthcalendar control named 'FromDate' and a DataGridView control that shows the SQL results.
How do I get the user's selected date incorporated into the SQL statement that returns the results in the datagrid?
Something like:
WHERE (TransactionType_ID = 3) AND (Transaction_DateTime > Fromdate)
...but obviously there's much more to it.

I am using a typed dataset in my Calendar application. I got a datagridview and a calendar control. I want to control the dgv data by using the calendar event 'date selected', so when a user selects a date he will see all the events happening on that day only. I need to use the filter function of the CalendarBindingSource

I have to color some of lines and make them bold.The input is based on a dynamic list (in memory) and it also could be based on CSV file that I'm already provide today (based on the same dynamic list).I'm wondering what would be the most efficient way (in terms of performance) in order to provide the colored Excel output?Should I export directly from dynamic list into Excel - or - Should I export from CSV into Excel ?

how I can implement my calendar with VB .net express 2008 and MSSQL 2008 Express. How do I get it to work with datasets, binding source etc.If I go to Properties>settings my connection string is:

I can Add the event to the calendar I have the necessary items on my form linked to my table and I can save them to my table:

But I cant keep the event displayed on my calendar when I close it and open it again.

I am trying to read excel data (Excel 2007 SP1, on Windows XP SP3) with visual basic .net 2008 (VB 9.0 SP1).
