I'm not asking how to exit the program( dispose() ) instead I have a program that checks if a certain process is running and if so it displays a message box, stops the process and (Should) exit the program. If the process is not detected then the program loads normally and opens an external program. My problem is that it stops the process and still runs the program. How can I fully stop the code and exit my program?

I'm having a bit of a problem getting my application to close properly. Basically I have one main form from which all other forms open. If a user tries to close that main form, I want to bring up a MessageBox asking if they want to exit the application.However, when I try to do that it asks the question twice. It seems that the Application.Exit() is triggering the FormClosing event again for some reason, but I don't know of another way to exit the application. BTW, the main form isn't the startup form so I can't use the option to close when the startup form closes.

Now I have a sub to validate a bunch of textboxes and combo boxes.I previously used many IF statements to validate and pop up different messageboxes and Exit Sub in every IF statement.But I heard that too many Exits will decrease the efficiency and they were not recommended to use. Instead, nested IF is better because it will let the process naturally go to the end.Then I found out that if I use nested IF,it will be hard to read, since messageboxes are all separated from conditions.

I've wrote a program designed to loop through a text file containing email addresses and unsubscribe said email addresses in our CRM system. I'm having a problem with the following code...
Do While obj_filereader2.Peek() <> -1
strcuremail = obj_filereader2.ReadLine()
Dim dbqCustNo As String = "SQL CODE HERE - SELECT CUSTOMER NUMBER"
Dim exeCustNo As New SqlCommand()
Dim SQLdr As SqlDataReader
exeCustNo.Connection = ConnStr
[Code] ......
The program is falling over when trying to execute the update commands during the datareader loop, with the fabled 'There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command...' error. This program has evolved as I've found problems/better ways of working, so it might be a case of myself just not using the DataAdapter right - I'm guessing I should be using a function of the open DataReader rather than the ExecuteNonQuery command.

If System.IO.File.Exists(Application.StartupPath() + " empfile.tmp") = True Then
System.IO.File.Delete(Application.StartupPath() + " empfile.tmp")

End Sub
I use this code but it doesn't work. I want to delete a file when I click on X or when close the application.

I have a Form with a Group Box with a number of check boxes within it, each check box has a text box next to it for the user to enter a number. I wondered if it was possible to loop through the check boxes within the Group Box to find out which are selected and output the value in the associated textbox next each checkbox as it loops?

Suppose I have an IEnumerable such as a List(TValue) and I want to keep track of whether this list is being accessed (to prevent issues with, say, adding to the list while it is being iterated over on a different thread); I can always write code such as the following:
Dim List1 As New List(Of Integer)
Dim IteratingList1 As Boolean = False
' ... some code ... '
[Code]....
(I realize this code is very arbitrary, but it illustrates what I'm talking about.)
My question is whether there's a better/cleaner way to perform this check than by manually updating and accessing a Boolean, as above. I feel like there must be, but, to my knowledge, there isn't any IEnumerable class with a built-in "I am being iterated over" method or property. And writing a new class that implements IEnumerable and contains such a property seems like overkill to me.

I want to do a For Each loop where i can check whether each button is enabled or disabled. If the button is enabled then i have to obtain the values in the tags for each button. I have 26 buttons each containing different values (cash prizes).*IMPORTANT: this code needs to go under the button so every sixth time its pressed it checks the buttons.
Pseudo-Code:
btncase1.tag = 5
Begin while statement to go through each button
Check each button to see if it is enabled
