add an if statement and an exit statement to my do loop that exits when my future value (FV) is greater than 1000, then to change the exit statement to a continue statement so my loop will continue even though my fv is greater then 1000, point is to get this to run even though my if statement doesnt do anything. problem something wrong in my code and an exception error (xception of type 'System.OverflowException' occurred in mscorlib.dll)
so can someone show me where or why I have an error is, what am I overthinking now! I could use a hint, OMG i could use a tutor for that matter

Now I have a sub to validate a bunch of textboxes and combo boxes.I previously used many IF statements to validate and pop up different messageboxes and Exit Sub in every IF statement. But I heard that too many Exits will decrease the efficiency and they were not recommended to use. Instead, nested IF is better because it will let the process naturally go to the end. Then I found out that if I use nested IF,it will be hard to read, since messageboxes are all separated from conditions.

I have a 'For Each...' loop in the VB.NET code for one of the pages on my website. There is also a Try/Catch block within this code that currently contains an 'Exit Sub' in the event of an error being trapped. However, what I would actually like to do is to merely exit the current loop value and recommence the loop at the next value in the sequence.
How can I do this?

what if you created a pool of numbers: 1 - 21 and then chose a random selection from the pool? Something like the following:[code]This gets rid of those messy if statements and all of those loops.

I have the following problem:
I've got 3 lines
If I click the "next" button
Line 1 shall be highlighted
Then I I click ""next" again
[Code].....
a for i = 1 to 3 to loop within the Button1_click makes i directly 3 of course so line 1 and 2 will not be highlighted.
I am not allowed to use a msgbox in between cause then it would be easy, cause I would wait until "OK" would be pressed...
How can I make this for i = 1 to 3 loop work and highlight the lines 1, 2 and 3, one by one after pressing the "Next" button?

I am creating a small applicaiton for simulating dice roll. To simulate bounces I change the position of the picture randomly. Now to simulate more than one bounce, I used a for loop to continuously change the position of the picture box. But it is not happening as I planned, the form only displays the position of the last loop. I even tried using System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000) hoping to show the bounces, but even they show the last loop only.
For bounceCount As Integer = 1 To bounces
bounce(pb_dice1)
bounce(pb_dice2)
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(3000) 'I need to pause here and show the recent change in position then continue after 3 seconds
Next
the bounce method changes the position of the PictureBox.
How can I pause my for loop, display the newly positioned dices, and then continue after 3 seconds?

I have a simple GUI form to hide / show / minimize / terminate / force terminate Processes. i can do all well but for show and hide i need the MainWindowHandle to show or hide it
So here is hide process code:
Dim Proc As New Process = Process.GetProcessesById(List.SelectedRows(0).Cells(1))
Dim hwnd = Proc.MainWindowHandle
ShowWindow(hwnd,0)
If i try the same with show code:
Dim Proc As New Process = Process.GetProcessesById(List.SelectedRows(0).Cells(1))
Dim hwnd = Proc.MainWindowHandle
ShowWindow(hwnd,9)
The MainWindowHandle become 0 cuz its hidden is there is any other way to get the MainWindowHandle of Process ?

This is what I have so far for the following scenario: I want to have it so that if a users clicks submit without checking a check box from one section it throws up a dialog box that makes the process loop and give them a chance to check a box. The process wont continue until at least one check box is checked. The same thing above goes for my radio buttons as well. Here's my code:

I am trying to understand how a for each loop works and am having some trouble. I am trying to create a program that will query a sql database, pull back the information and store it. I currently having it writing to a text file, and would like to take the information (such as name) and compare it to another list where the name is equal. However I am not exactly sure how the for each statement really works. I have looked at numerous sources and it doesn't make since to me as you can probably see from what I have put in here.

I'm practising printing, and doing fairly well - not as hard as I was thinking.
My question is: is it better/preferable to use a "while..." loop instead of an "If..then" statement when printing.
All my printing code is in various If statements (if PgNbr = 2, If PgNbr = 3 etc) but I notice in most of the examples and webpages I read that a lot of printing is done in a "while..." loop
