VS 2008 - Copy File To Folder Specified In Textbox
Oct 8, 2010
I would like to copy a file from the serve to a folder that is specified in a textbox.
CopyFiles("\agb1datSOFTeasy-1390171.txt", TextBox1.Text)
Private Sub CopyFiles(ByVal sourcePath As String, ByVal DestinationPath As String)
If (Directory.Exists(sourcePath)) Then
For Each fName As String In Directory.GetFiles(sourcePath)
If File.Exists(fName) Then
Dim dFile As String = String.Empty
[Code] .....
The problem is with the destination. The destination is selected by a select folder dialogbox. I want to copy the file from the server to the folder specified in the textbox.
I have a form, who should show me a image. In the form, I put a Open File Dialog, and select the image. After this, with the filename, I can open and show the image. But, What I wanna do do is the following:In my application folder, I wanna create a folder named "Images". I'm trying to write a program where people can click a browse button, click a file to copy, and then click a second browse button and click a destination folder. I've tried
and get the error "Could not complete operation since a directory already exists in this path 'C:UsersSamDesktop'."
FileCopy TextBox1.Text, TextBox2.Text gives me "The target file "C:UsersSamDesktop" is a directory, not a file."
Both methods work if I put C:UsersSamDesktop'filename'.'extension' in the destination. But I want the user to be able to select the destination without having to type a new file name.
I have a web url for the image. per example [URL]. I want copy that url in my local folder in "c:images" and also when I copy that file into folde I have rename the image to "c:imagesxyz.jpg".
i'm trying to have 2 browse file dialog boxes, one that allows you to select a file from a folder, and the other folder should allow you to chose the location to copy the file to.
I am working on a program using VB.Net 2010 which will enable me to setup groups of files & folders for back up with syncing capabilities etc. I have a concept program which is based on some sample code I found out in one of the VB.Net forums. I have modified it from a command line based program to a form based program. At the moment I consider this code to be a "concept" program which once I have the various copy/sync routines developed and debugged will be integrated in to another program I wrote for creating "Back Up" groups to automate the process. There are some 3rd party programs that do similar things that I want to do such as Microsofts Sync Toy, but none of them offer the grouping and exclusions options that I am going to program in to this backup/sync program.
So here is my problem, I have the included code taking two folders, a source and a destination, and copying everything from the source to the destination. It will skip over any unchanged files/folders and will delete anything found in the destination folder that is not found in the source folder and it will update all files in the destination folder that have a newer version in the source folder. In other words it will mirror image the source to the destination but will be smart enough not to copy unchanged items from the source to the destination thereby saving a lot of time. The sync part of the program is working fine, the displaying of the progress and results is not.
I want to paste a file from the clipboard that has been copied from a compress folder using VB.net. By examining the clipboard, I see there is a FileGroupDescriptorW which seems to contain some information about the file. But I have not found how to use the information to grab the file and paste it.
I want to copy an HTML file from one location to another using VB.net. When i use any of the three FileCopy, System.IO.File.Copy, My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyFile it copies only the file and not the "filename_files" folder which contain its associated images and scripts.
What i want to do programatically is copy a.html to another location as b.html
when i do that and open b.html it opens it without any images and scripts.
I have created an application in VB.NET 2008 with SQL Server 2005 edition and having a probelm to take the backup of database namely Burakhe.mdf I want to copy the file Burakhe.mdf to the selected folder when this file is still used by other application ie.during running the program ..
I'm trying to move a lot of pictures from FOLDER A to another, FOLDER B. However, some of the pictures already exists in the FOLDER B. This stops my program saying it cannot copy the pictures over because they already exist. I'm trying to make it so any pictures from FOLDER A will copy over the pictures in FOLDER B if they are similar in name. Like... Folder A's pictures will just replaced the Folder B pictures if they have the same name. I was told to use the System.IO.File.Copy tool. Here is my code.
how would I copy files into a jar, as well as delete folders from that jar. Would I have to decompile it then recompile it? Would sharpziplib do the trick?
I want to copy files with a specific extension (for example .config or .exe). It should create a structure of nested directories, and then insert each file into a specified place in the directory hierarchy. Ideally I would just specify a parent directory for each file and a parent directory for each directory and it would build it.
I need any existing utility or batch file or power-shell script or C#/VB .Net code to perform this activity.
I am trying to create an application where you can browse to a folder, press install button and it will copy some files to the directory of your choosing? I found some example code but how do i go on with my code from here? Cant figure out how to copy the files. You can see at last in the code i tried to copy files but its not really working, how do i use the function? I want the files to come from the application directory. And copy to the browsed folder.
Public Class Installer Private Sub Installer_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub
How best to cancel/kill a recursive folder copy? I am looping through a number of pathnames in a list box and then recursively copying all files and sub-folders to a backup location. Suppose the user wants to cancel for some reason. I have checked that I can detect a click on my "cancel" button in a timely manner (DoEvents sees to that) but how can I stop the recursive file copy without ending the program? [code]

I have a folder with a bunch of different files in it, and I want to display each file name on a line in a single textbox (or block, i don't care) so that the user knows what files are available to be read from. The name and number of files within the folder will change frequently, so making a .txt file with all of the file names wouldn't be an acceptable solution.
