I've got a searh form with about 8 different boxes where a user can enter data to search from. To save writing many different search commands I want to be able to write one and if the field is empty then search all records for example
SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE CarType = CarType.Text And Color = Color.Text If a user enters a Color then search it otherwise don't narrow down the results so like this SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE CarType = ""
How can I do this? would it be like the % sine if Color.Text is = String.Empty??
I watched a video from Beth Messi about creating a search function using query builder.
For instance, if I want to filter FirstName, I will do " LIKE @FirstName + '%' " - the FirstName's datatype is varchar My question is, what should I write for the "int" datatype?
i connect the Datagridview by using command connection not coding. now i have "table3tableadabter", "table3bindingsource" and "database3dataset" below the form ? the search string " "Select * from tabel3 Where test2 like '" & Me.TextBox1.Text & "%';"" how i can do serch and the result will be shown in datagridview.
First let me say that I am not sure whether or not this should go in this section or the API section, and if it needs to be moved I apologize. My issue is fairly straight forward, but for some reason I cannot get it to work.
I am trying to send a command to a command line and then submit the command. I have been trying without success to get this to work in v2008 Express and v2010 Express, Here is the code I am trying to us:
Private Declare Function FindWindow Lib "user32" Alias "FindWindowA" ( _ ByVal lpClassName As String, _ ByVal lpWindowName As String _
I am currently using psexec.exe from PsTools to send a command to a remote system to fire a command through a command prompt however I am finding that the shell I am doing does not seem to like the spaces in the path.
Any ideas on how I handle the following error thrown in the SqlDataAdapter.Fill as a result of the BeginTrans in the callee?
System.InvalidOperationException = {"ExecuteReader requires the command to have a transaction when the connection assigned to the command is in a pending local transaction.The Transaction property of the command has not been initialized."}
I want to add a new select command to my dataset. To do that, I have added a new partial class to my project. Because we have to use partial class if we want to extend generated dataset codes. [code]...
I am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.
User need to select their prefferable data to show in report. What i did is i have a clear command first to delete the temporary table. The temporary table is basically a table to stored user selection parameter data. After the clear command, i have a insert command to insert user selection data into the temporary table. What happened now is when i run the program exe, first run of the report is work fined, but not the second and the following times of execution. It will return null or blank report. The weird thing is when i execute it from development environment, it seem like the report is able to pick up user selection parameter and run the report for the first times and the subsequent execution.
i have seen this in many codes, just not sure where to start and how to call the command. what i'm talking about is having code as such (this is for save file dialog):
I was wondering what the command to end a process is, i want to make an application that can end a process when the button is clicked, and restart it once the button is clicked again, could you give me the command for those?
I just started playing around with VB today and have been working on getting a very simple program running. I am trying to create a program where when I hit a button it will open a command window and run a command. I have worked on this for a a good portion of today, and have not been able to find a solution to do this.[code]I have been through a few other things to get it to work, but nothing has seemed to work. Is there a better way to go about this? it seems like it should be simple, but I'm just missing it.
It it possible in vb.net to run a MySql command like you would do in MySQL or SQL? like insert and update statements and also to create a table in the db?
First off, i'm still rather new to Vb.Net but am enjoying learning it, I have this code to run a shutdown:
'// Thread Process for Shutdown Process Private Sub BackgroundProcess() If System.IO.File.Exists(dbfile) = True Then Try Dim shutdownCount As Integer
[Code]...
It runs ok. Currently it looks through a number of computer names and shuts them down. But sometimes it can take up to a minute for anything to be returned by command line if for example a computer is switched off. So what i'm trying to do is get it so it doesn't continue the loop UNTIL there has been something returned by command line. Some maybe to do with While p.HasExited or something? Is this possible?
I'm not sure if this belongs in the database section or the NET section. I will leave that up to the moderators. I have converted a few of my VB6 systems to NET. However, I have retained the ADO coding technique. I probably need to update that. Below is a sample from one of my applications. As you can see, I retrieve the data and, based on conditions, I then issue an UPDATE command. From what I have been reading (and not really grasping) a DATASET/DATA ADAPTER combination will do the same thing. If so, could somebody rewrite this small block of code using "proper" ADO.NET techniques. If I see my own code rewritten it will be much more meaningful to me.
Dim cnxn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection(cnxnstring) cnxn.Open() Dim sql As New SqlClient.SqlCommand sql.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM PART WHERE LTRIM(RTRIM([PARTNUMBER])) = " & "'" & Trim
I'm writing a code that will check if .net framework 3.5 SP1 is installed before installing the program.The command I found googling around was System.Runtime.InteropServices.Runtime Environment.GetSystemVersion..I wasn't able to verify the correct .net framework version using this command.I'm currently running 3.5 SP1 and this command is showing v2.0.Is there another way to get the correct .net framework version?
I'm making a program that can take arguments and run cmd line style. I'm trying to think of a good way to sort and check the arguments. I currently split the arguments into an array and use a loop to assign them to variables.[code]That works but would seriously mess up if someone left out anything. I want to know if anyone has any tips on how to parse the incoming arguments. I always like making my scripts idiot proof, cause at times i mess stuff up.
I am having a little trouble with my VB.NET program and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction?I have started a cmd.exe process in my vb.net (2008) program however I would like to execute commands for my process (in the same command prompt window created) on the fly. For example (the commands are irrelevant)... on the click of button 1, I would like to carry out the command "cd C:". Once that has finished I'd like to be able to click button 2 which executes "help". (I do not want the commands to execute when the process starts).[code]
I need to convert a .tex file to a .dvi file (latex file), which I can do simply using a command in the cmd window: "latex C: est.tex" for example, would create the "test.dvi" file from the "test.tex" file.
I know how to start the cmd window (Process.Start("cmd.exe")), yet how to get VB to actually 'type' a message and execute it...
