The second, third, fourth etc etc records are not reflected. Therefore, the vale of the textbox is not shown on the combobox.

The I am getting all the fields, instead of the specified ones in the query, in the grid view.Also, the where clause, is not being executed ie. It gives the entire database as it is.The database in the gridview does not get updated. View 1 RepliesI have a datagridview for the transactions table. On the datagridview there is a combobox column for the type id field in the transactions table. This combobox displays the transaction type name from the transaction types table and puts the transaction type id into the transactions table. That much is okay. But each transaction type belongs to one of several categories. I have a categories table. The category id field in the transaction type record points to the id of the categories table. The category id is not in the transactions table, it is in the transactions types table. I need to know how to link the categories combo box on the datagridview to the category id in the transactions types combobox, which isn't even there right now. At present the transaction types combobox does not display the category id. It displays the transactions type name. Do I need to add another combobox to link the categories combo to the types combo?
I need to have it first and foremost so it will display the correct category when existing records are pulled up. I think I could do this with a join to the transactions type table in the categories combobox. But that wouldn't cause the transaction type combo to filter by category when a new entry is made.
Can someone advise as to the correct way to link comboboxes in this type of heirarchy?

I have tried searching on if it is capable to do autocomplete in a combobox in the datagridview control. I was planning to use the combobox in the grid itself. There is a property to set autocomplete true/false but I cannot get the cb to let me enter text to find. It only selects on the first character of items in the list.
View 4 RepliesSo i have a datagridview with two combos, when the form it's created i fill the first one with all the MainValues, and the second one with all possible values for the MainValues (called SecondValues) (1..N).Now my issue, when the user selects one value from the first combo i want to fill the second combo with all values related to the selected MainValue, i can do this for example by filling the datatable again with a parameter that filters the data, but if the previous rows have different main values, the dgv throws errors because it doesn't find the binded ones in the new filtered datatable.
How can i handle this? One datatable for each line?! Other thing, i'm using the SelectionChangeCommited event for handling the values change (in theEditingControlShowing), but if the user uses the keyboard to select the values the event doesn't behave in the same way or the way that i need. The values in the combo are numeric values (1001,1020,2010,3010), when the user select one of the values, i need to fill another cell in the same row with the number selected plus some string, example combo:1001 cell:1001XPTO. So if the user presses 1 in the keyboard the combobox selects the 1001 and fills the cell with 1001XPTO, but if i keep pressing the keyboard to select the 1020, by pressing 0 and 2, i get the 1020 selected in the combo, but the cell remains with the 1001XPTO.

I've got the part working that when the form loads the online file gets read and the data is shown in a combobox. Only it shows the whole line like 'Chello,smtp.chello.nl'.
What I want (and can't seem to get working) In only the combobox the words before the comma and in a invisible textbox the corresponding smtp line. Ergo when I select option number 4 the right smtp is put into the invisible textbox.

I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

I have a form with a DataGridView and ComboBox, both of which are populated with data from an Excel spreadsheet, the source is unbound. My problem is in repopulating the DataGridView with data from another worksheet in the same Excel file when the user selects the corresponding value from the ComboBox. For example if they were to select January from the ComboBox then the DataGridView would load in and display the data contained on say Sheet2, selecting February would load Sheet 3 and so on. I am running Visual Studio 2008.

I have code to add the columns and populate the first combobox, but I can't figure out how to do the second one since it can (and usually will) have a different list for each row AND the list must change when the selection in the first is changed.

View 2 RepliesI have this test form where I'm testing the idea, but ran into a snag. Now the main idea is to load all the data from a dataset into the one column of the datagridview. This works perfectly as shown in the image. Now there is something that I want to happen, but just can't get it right. when on the DataGridViewComboBox Column I also want to be able to type in my own data if the one I want is not available in the combobox.
Also if there are 50 values in my combobox and 2 of them are:

I have ComboBoxes and DatagridViews for which I've written code to automatically adjust the width of the ComboBox dropdown list or DataGridView columns depending upon the available space for them and certain conditions.The problem is when a vertical scrollbar appears. I then need to adjust for the width it takes, but am not able to find how to detect this using code.Ive been looking at .ScrollBars, but with this I can only set/get for them to be able to be there or not.
For the ComboBox:
-How can I detect if it has a vertical scrollbar before opening its dropdownlist, if at all possible?

I am trying to write a vb2008 program that allows a user to select an airport from a combobox and then once the value has been selected it searches a comma separated text file once it has found the airport selected ( always the first column in the file) in the file it populates 8 other textboxes with the row data from the file. The idea is to select the airport and then it calls up the radio frequencies associated with the airport.I assume you have to call the data into an array and the search thorough the array until the combobox.selectedvalue = the value in the array, but i am unsure how to do this Ideally I would like to be able to the user to add data to the file thats why I used a combox, but I am having trouble trying to get the boxes to populate so first things first.

I have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.
DataGridView TIPs has TextBoxes and ComboBoxes in it and the data comes from an SQL table. I see how to get or set the cell values that come from the ComboBoxes using Item, but how do I access the actual ComboBox events and properties?
