VS 2008 File Saved By VB Code Will Not Open?

I have created an Excel AddIn that has a custom ribbon with some custom buttons...I'm using Excel 2010. One of the buttons is to save the the workbook by utilizing the users input as the file name. This workbook is to be saved as a template in a specified folder. The code also checks to see if the file already exists, and prompts the user to overwrite if it does already exist.The code I have seems to be working just fine. The problem is...when I try to open the newly saved workbook, it won't open.Here is the entire code for the button click event:

I made a buttom that saves info from RichTextBox to selected location now My problem is I want this file to be loaded when program loads so basicly folder will look like this
myprogram.exe CustomNamesFolder > Inside that folder there will be a file called names.txt how can I doit so that name.txt file loads in my ComboBox? so when user downloads the exe they can just go in to folder edit the .txt file and add names they want and when they start program it will load this list in to the ComboBox of my program
How can I achive this ? I looked at 6 pages of Loading Files in program but non told me what I wanted to know above ;s

I'm making a tiny program that calculates a total for a user for some type of styling service. A user clicks the radio button for either hairstyle, perm makeup, makeover, or manicure. then clicks a discount radio button, either none, 10% or 20%. then it calculates the total (price of service - discount %). then it displays the total in the current service text box & keeps a running total and displays that in a second total box.
My problem is i try to run the program i made and it basically crashes. In the code, when in VB, there's an error message when you go over PriceDecimal, DiscountDecimal, and GrandTotalDecimal saying the variable is used before it is assigned a value.also is there any way to open a .exe file and see the code for it?

I've got 2 seperated programs.
One is a program where you can select a product and select how many of them you want. Then the total price wil be displayedin a label. And the list of selected products will be saved in a .txt file.
The second program is an Edit program. The user can edit his selected products. Here he can change the total of a product.So if he had selected 1, he can change it to three or something. When the user clicks the button Save. The changes will besaved in the same .txt file and the total price will also be changed and displayed in program one.
Program one is compleet.Program two has problems and here i need your help:- the user can't make a change in the numbers, seems that the textbox is read-only or something. How to solve?- Then when i click save, the changed must be saved in the .txt ( i can't test this yet because no changes can't be made)- the total new price must be showed in program 1 (i think i programmed this well, but can you take a look)

I saved a text file. The text characters were in RichTextBox iwth multiple lines. I used
RichTextBox1.AppendText(ControlChars.Cr) or RichTextBox.AppendText(ControlChars.Lf)
at the end of each line, but when I opened this text file using NotePad, all lines were displayed with ONE line. The strange thing is: if I open the same text file using other editors, .e.g. an IDE of Microchip or Freescale or Multi-edit...the text display had multiple lines as expected.
What should I do to make display as expected in NotePad?

I currently save the data the user input into the textboxes like:

when reading it back into the textboxes i was needing to chop off the surrounding parameters:
[]Just need this data[/]
Is there a way to just grab the data in between the brackets like an explode function of sorts?

After I finish messing around with my projects I open up VB 2008 and try to open them up again and there is so much stuff in the folders I press everything and none of it works?
EDIT: I can debug the program but can not find where to edit the coding and layout?

I am learning VB 2008 Express Edition to solve the following issue: how do I put the color of each pixel in a table, allocate a code (from 1 to 256 in the case of a 256 colors picture) to each different colors and print these codes at the right place on a grid? A few years ago, I had a basic knowledge of VB6 but VB6 being not compatible with Windows 7, I had to install a new version, VB 2008 Express edition, version that I don't know at all!

I have this neat little web browser that has recently been gaining a bit of speed in download rates because of it's ability to change proxies by the click of a button. None of this is important, I'm just giving you backround info. I want to make the program a little bit.. spiffier and cooler. I thought it would be cool if the program could refer to you by name so I want an inputbox to open up if there is no fname saved to a setting and ask for your name.

when i reopen my solutions the document tabs are empty, None of my open documents were saved. I hate this as have always been used to the documents being restored.
I have searched but cannot find the option to alter this behavior.

I've gone through about 16 hours and two packs of cigarettes trying to figure this out. First a little background. I was using 6.0 up until 2004 when I went to prison. I'm out now, and trying to relearn the trade, using VS 2005. I'm currently porting some 6.0 code from another project, SpyCast Webcam Studio, into VB 8.0. It's disheartening, to say the least. None of the old built-in subs/functions work anymore, so I have to scour the forums to relearn each and every function.The section I'm doing now takes a snapshot from the webcam (Video API --> PictureBox --> Save as Jpeg), then upens the file to upload it to the server via HTTP POST. I've been using this code in SpyCast for years with no trouble, but I spent many hours trying to piece together the right code to open the binary file to read its contents. I pieced together two methods I found around the forums, one using FileStream() though the code I found wasn't for binary files, even though it said it was, so that code doesn't really work. Method two uses Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileOpen() and works better.
Here's the kicker. By the time I run through the rest of the rigamarole of uploading the file, by the time I read it on the webserver, it's *slightly* corrupted. It's a valid Jpeg, no errors, but the picture looks like when I use to watch the Playboy Channel when I was a kid scrambled with weird colors and whatnot. [code] Each "chunk" is basically one "line" of the file. It looks like a single LineInput() return is the text between two carriage returns. Am I correct? I tested this with a flat text file, and it looks true. However, That one input line returns the text or data with the carriage returns *stripped*! ***?!? =( Fine, I have no problem adding my own vbCrLf to each LineInput(), if I were opening text. but this's binary. A character could be Chr(10) or Chr(13), both of which are removed from the original file contents.So I could very well need to use something other than LineInput(), but I haven't found any other examples on the web using this method.

I would like to find out how would it be possible to make a executable be lunched at the click of a button from a vb.net form.what I have so far is a form with a few button on.for example:
button 1 is called 'RegEdit'

this complied will lunch regedit as instructed but what I would like to do is to put the console app .exe file into a root file of the application.I would like to be able to have, once this project is completed, a main folder with the name of the app and then a sub dir called 'resources'. the 'resources' folder would have the various command line .exe with instructions to open various system programs.

I have a button that opens a selected file depending on the file extension (doc, docx, or pdf)... the problem is when I have a pdf file is that the file is displayed in the browser, and when I hit the back button I come back to the original page - but the buttons won't then work...

I just had an absolute nightmare scenario. Somehow while working in VS 2008, the wrong sequence of keystokes occured and I deleted all the controls on my userfom. The form is extensive. I could not undo the deletion and restore my form. So I decided to copy all the code from behind the form to a text file. I then deleted the project and then went to one of my latest back-up copies and dropped it inot my project folder for VS 2008. I opened this back-up file in VS 2008 and simply pasted the entire code from the text file (5,000 lines) into the form. The backup file has the same name as the original.
When I go to run the code, the form loads properly, but none of my control events seem to be firing.There are not any errors showing up in the Error Window. I then started getting an error prompt saying "Project XYZ cannot be modified at this time." Anyways after several attempts, I decided that instead of copying the entire piece of code from my text file, I would only copy pieces that I recall as being updated. Now everything loads properly and the routine runs. But I know have yet another control event not firing. The control exists, the event is there but no firing.Given that I was prudent enough to make back-ups AND I have the actual code from the crashed file how in ____ do I copy this code back into my form and have it work?

I replaced the file source with the actual location of the file and got the same error. I also checked the permissions of the application to allow sharing and remove read only properties.

I'm letting my users write their own HTML from my webpage. When they click the preview button, my code behind needs access to controls on the page (and so I understand I can't use a web method here). It builds the HTML and saves it as a file on the server. My question is: Once the file has been made, I want to automatically open the file in a new window for the user to see their handy work. I'm using vb.net, but happy to receive c# answers.

I decided on a comma separated data file, saved as a text file. This is for data that will not change. After loading the data from the text file; then throughout the lifetime of the program the data can change. The data can then be saved back to a different binary file. The idea is to have a save state system going.Does anyone have a suggestion or is opposed to the idea. Is there a simpler way to organize something like this?

i have this app. with a listbox , a save button, and 2 textboxes the listbox loads all the files in a folder that i save directly from my save button it automatically loads up the files when i click on a listing in the listbox, text1 is the file name, text2 the content.i want to be able to have the listbox highlight the new saved file name in the listbox once i save the file in order to show that the file was created and such.
