VS 2008 Finding The Index Of An Item In A Bound Checklistbox?
Nov 19, 2010
I have a checkedlistbox to which a dataview is set as its datasourceI also have a string array that contains valuemembers which need to be matched to the items in the checkedlistbox, of which if complying the checked state needs to be se
Heres some test code I used. Just a checklistbox on the form with this code-behind:
Dim list As New List(Of String) Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load For i = 0 To 10 list.Add("Test " + i.ToString)
[code].....
I use a list to keep track of the items in the listbox, so if I remove one of those items from the listbox I want to also remove it from the list using the same index. If you use this code and load the form and then check all the items, youll notice that when you uncheck one it will remove the item and THEN also uncheck the next item...why is that?
what im trying to do is loop threw all listbox items until the listbox item contains say "panda" and stop and give me the index of the item that contains "panda"so i would end up with panda`s selected index
What would be the most efficient way to find the grid a collection is bound to. Is there a way to use databinding to return the control a collection is bound to? I need a method like GetBoundGrid(myCollection) that returns a datagridview.
This method will be on our EntryFormBase form. This is a 3 panel form consisting of a search area, search results (MainGrid) and a detail section. This base forms handles all the logic for adding, saving and deleting data. (Bad design I know but it's what I inherited.) If I know the current collection I need to determine the grid it is bound to.The app I am currently working on was created using VS2003 before binding sources were available so it is bound old school.
And I select one and it works! But when I try to select a different one it comes up with an error on..If ListView2.SelectedItems.Item(0).Text = "None" Then The error..InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index
I have an error index is outside array bound with this code: Private Sub btnSearch_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSearch.Click Dim record = (From line In IO.File.ReadAllLines("test.txt") _ Let fields = line.Split(","c) _ Select New With { _ .drawer = fields(0), _ .number = fields(1), _ .title = fields(2) _ }).Where(Function(r) r.title = TextBox3.Text).FirstOrDefault End Sub
I have an application written in vb where I keep getting 'index out of bound' exception.I want to catch the exception only when its 'index out of bound' exception for other I have generic message. I am able to generate the generic message but cant. I am using the below code but it doesn't work .
If (ex.Message Is "Index was outside the bounds of the array.") Then Dim sMsg As String = "Function <Sample Function>.Too Many inputs" & ex.Message & vbNewLine & ex.StackTrace [Code] ......
I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.
[code]...
As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?
I am trying to find a record within a nested Dictionary, so that I can add more records to the sub-Dictionary.
The intention is to be a dynamic configuration, where no matter what I pass into it will group into like item categories that have already been added. If there are no like items it will add a new category.
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim xConfig As New Dictionary(Of String, Dictionary(Of Int64, Object))
I'm, using a SQL Server table in a DataGridView and I'm having trouble adding records. I'm new to vb.net but used vb6 for a lot of years so the transition is a little difficult. For now I'm just trying to add a record using a button click but the record key which is setup as integer and to automatically increment by 1 shows as -1 after the record is created. While the data does show in the grid it is never actually posted in the table. Once created I want to select the record just entered.
Here's what I have:
' Declare Private addedRowIndex As Integer
Code:
Dim newMessagesRow As ArcadeDataSet.messagesRow newMessagesRow = ArcadeDataSet.messages.NewmessagesRow newMessagesRow.movie_title = "Added Programmatically"
I have a text file that is automatically generated by an older computer system daily. Unfortunately, the columns in this file are not delimited and they are not exactly fixed width (each day the width of each column could change depending on the amount of chars of the data in each column). The file does have column headings, so I want to find the width of each column using the column headings. Here is an example of the column heading row:
JOB_NO[variable amount of white space chars]FILE_NAME[variable amount of ws chars]PROJECT_CODE[variable amount of ws chars][carriage return]
What I want to do is get the index of of the first char in a column and the index of the last white space of a column (from the column heading). I would want to get the index of the "J" in JOB_NUM and the last white space before the "F" in FILE_NAME for the first column.I guess I should also mention that the columns may not always be in the same order from day to day but they will have the same header names. I know I can use the string.indexOf("JOB_NO") to get the index of the start of the column, but how do I get the index of the last white space in each column? (or last whitespace before the next first non-whitespace that denotes the start of the next column)
i'm having a little trouble with a listbox. [Code]. i want the button command to run through the listbox items and proceed with given command. it's not listbox1.items.indexof(#), it's something else i'm missing.
I have some code and there are 2 errors which I don't understand I have tried all sorts...
1)The type for variable 'Index' will not be inferred because it is bound to a field in an enclosing scope. Either change the name of 'Index', of use the fully qualified name (for example, 'Me.Index' or 'MyBase.Index').
2)Function 'GetNewPhrase' doesn't return a value on all code paths. A null reference exception could occur at run time when the result is used.
My overall goal is to add fake/unbound items to a listview control (for final HTML Table output reasons). This is a code behind solution. Users will not be adding items as it will be outputted in a rigid table.
I have looked at several examples and while this is easy for a dropdown it is not for listview.
The code below works without error, but my item is not shown on runtime. I think the class is not setting the item fieldname correctly, but I can't figure out the right syntax to fix it.
ColumnNameAList.DataSource = PeriodDataView ColumnNameAList.DataBind() Dim test As New Example1("ColumnNameA")
I'm trying to read a file line by line into an array but It skips the item at index:3 I have it msgboxing just to make sure and it wont even touch it.
Dim Btn As Button = DirectCast(sender, Button) Dim path As String = Application.StartupPath & "Libraries" & Btn.Text.Replace(" ", "_") & ".ipt" Dim i As Integer = 0 Dim lines As String() = IO.File.ReadAllLines(path)
I have a listbox bound to a datatable, and controls that are bound to the same datable. As you navigate through the listbox, the controls correctly reflect the selected item, and changes to the controls update the dataset OK as well. Now I'm trying to add a "New" capability to the form. So on the click for "New", I deselect the currently selected item and clear the controls[cod]e...
I have a List of an object, set to DataSource of a BindingSource, set to DataSource of a DataGridView. Then I added a DataGridViewButtonColumn which I want a click to remove that record from the collection. So I simply call collection. RemoveAt (e.rowIndex) from the DataGridView CellClick event. However this produces an IndexOutOfRange Exception; "1 does not have a value"..
So is happening here? I have maybe a vague idea, but would like to understand exactly which events are failing etc.. and what do i need to do to perform this action properly?
EDIT: This seems not to happen if I use a BindingList.. But when using a List, I get this problem..
I am working on a bound DataGrid that displays data from a database. I'm using Silverlight 5 if that helps. Currently all the data is stored in a Dictionary within the my entity object. Using the Property[Key] syntax for the binding path binds properly for display purposes. But the column acts like it is readonly when trying to change a column value in runtime.
Public Class Entity Public Property Attributes As New Dictionary(Of String, Object) End Class
[Code].....
My only thought right now is to store the column values in ordered lists and display them using an index rather than key. But I would really like to know why the key isn't working.
I have created a search/query facility after watching one of Beth Messi's videos. I notice that we can convert the textboxes on the auto generated search toolstrip to buttons, comboxes, etc. So, when we wanna search for a data in the datagridview, we enter a keyword. I wonder if it is possible to change the textboxes to comboboxes and make it bind to the datasources, so that users can use the drop down, instead of typing?
In the form below you see how the initial selected item is the first record of the table.. these controls are bound.. I want to initially show "Select one" in the combo box or nothing at all and the other controls not to be bound until an actual item is selected in the combobox..
I'm using a textbox to supply a filter for the datasouce which is bound to a listbox. It works (mostly) with a few exceptions, one being i was to restrict the height of the listbox to the number of entries (upto a maximum number), so a bit like a combobox (which in effect is what I'm writing). One of the problems is when the number of entries changes there does not seem to be an event raised, although the OnDrawItem is called for the items to be displayed (the displayed ones!) Is there anyway to find out (in a derived listbox) when the number of entries has changed in the datasource?
I am creating a simple website using the language of VB.NET, I am having trouble with one part at the moment and could really use some help.
At the moment I have items that are stored in a database, when the homepage loads these items are added to a Gridview which allows the user to select the items they wish to add to their shopping cart. Once an item is selected from the gridview it is added to a collection. That collection is then added to a Session. This is the code I have for completing that task.[code]...
