I am running vb 2008 express edition what I am trying to do a bulk insert into sql table, how would I go about doing this. The file I am trying to load is a text file that has a name and number so it would be to columns.

View 2 RepliesI have a spreadsheet saved as an .xml file. I see that as worksheets are added, the new xml text is simply inserted just before the final line of the file, which is "</workbook>". I have no problem creating the xml text for each added worksheet, but I don't know what I'm sure is a really simple way to insert the new text where it needs to go - or append the new text (including </workbook> at the end) at the correct location.

So I'm sending text with the program launchy this .vbs (addln.vbs) - ("$$" c:ideas.txt) is what the argument is if I want to send to ideas.txt for example All I want to do is make it so I get the date and time right before whatever text I send to this text file. Let me briefly list down the steps i took to achieve my result.
1) Insert data into Database using text file
2) Display the records from the NEW Database(Item2) using DataGridView
3) Using datagridview, i use to checkboxes to determine the selectedRow
4) Once the selectedRow are selected. I press on Delete Button
Delete Button - Update the Item2 Table field 'Deleted' to 1 - Delete the ItemID by using datagridview selectedrow cell value Which means in 1 loop, i process two database transaction.. Is there something wrong? How do i shorten the process to just delete the item without querying two database.
What I want to know is if there is a way to insert text into a text box on another browser using visual basic...Also if there is a way to put text only into specific fields... An example...A password memory program...What I mean by this is you have a form filled up with usernames and passwords and it will insert the correct username and password for the specified site. I guess the main thing I need to know is if it is possible to make visual basic correspond with another browser instead of using the actual WebBrowser control and a place I could go to find out how.

View 39 RepliesI have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.

I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I have designed a form with a text box on it, and a command button underneath. The idea is to run this as a sort of stiky notes section.
I want the text box to read rich text into the textbox (C:\\stickynotes.rtf")
Then i have a command button underneath which i want to save the content of the rich text box to the rtf file (C:\\stickynotes.rtf). This is so that the user can edit and ammend information.

I recently made a program that will automatically log in a site and start a game. I have it so that you can save the Username and Password to a text file. I need the text file to be encrypted though, and then decrypted when you load it back up.
