I'm using this script to add text to a variety of .txt's on the fly: Const ForAppending = 8

So I'm sending text with the program launchy this .vbs (addln.vbs) - ("$$" c:ideas.txt) is what the argument is if I want to send to ideas.txt for example All I want to do is make it so I get the date and time right before whatever text I send to this text file. I don't think this would be too complicated.

What code would I use to accommodate isolated storage mechanisms on a Windows XP machine to place log files? I can't find my previous code but I believe the IsolatedStorageFile class wanted to place the file in C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataLogFileNameToWriteToIsolatedStorage.txt'The problem is that on two XP machines where this has been employed, the ApplicationData folder does not exist.Was I maybe using System.IO.Path.GetTempPath();

This question is a little more in depth than the typical append and save. I'm needing to append multiple controls text to 1 file. Basically what I have is:User inputs name in TextBox1 User inputs Service Type from selected list in ComboBox1 User checks of any or all CheckedListBox fields that apply. I want to append a text file with items from a listbox. I tried to search for a code to do that, but couldn't find anything(most likely I don't know what I am looking for). But I wrote this code and got it to work, but after looking at the code, it looks sloppy and I'm sure could have bugs I didn't catch....my question is, is there a better code than the one I made, or will my code work fine. I am trying to append a new line to a text file. Sometimes it posts to a new line (like I want it to) and sometimes it appends to the current line, consequently screwing up my read. I even put VbNewLine in the code.

i'm writing an application where error messages are written into a text file.
text file is created using win32API createfile() function.
after that everytime an error occurs the message is written into the text file with writefile() API.
but whenever a new message is written the old text in the file is getting overwritten.
i want to append the new message at the end of the text already in the file.

I have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.
Here is an attached screenshot of my program layout so far:
I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.

SQL Table Column Data Type is Date; NULLS allowed,Input to MaskedTextBox set up as: ##->&<&<&-## so typical input is 01-Jan-10, etc. When the MaskedTextBox is filled and column populated, the data in the SQL table uses the format 2010-01-01
The form does not like a blank MaskedTextBox; therefore, when filled - no problem. When left empty, it has a problem. So I wrote this code to populate the column regardless, and will filter out the 2001-01-01 entries in associated reports using Report Viewer. This is less than ideal, so I would like to know if there is a way to make the column as NULL instead of "dummy date" of 2001-01-01?

I'm working on a small accounting app. I have a query to show transactions with a running balance.

I capture a gamesheet for a certain week. so if I select a date on a monthcalendar the sheet applies to the weeknumber of the selected date. When I save transactions I take the date at the last day of that week as the transactiondate. I need to store a datetime though because my query works of the datetime to get an accurate running balance. How can I append now() time part to my date variable and then store that in a datetime variable to get a transactiondatetime.
