[code]I must read the line which not contain (T value). I must take the value in [] and serch whether the same value exist in the line that contain (T value) if exist i must remove the line which not contain (TValue) and insert in another file called "Top". If value doesnot exist than i must delete the line.
I have a spreadsheet saved as an .xml file. I see that as worksheets are added, the new xml text is simply inserted just before the final line of the file, which is "</workbook>". I have no problem creating the xml text for each added worksheet, but I don't know what I'm sure is a really simple way to insert the new text where it needs to go - or append the new text (including </workbook> at the end) at the correct location.
I am trying to insert data in a text file. I need that each time a enter a windows form, a new line is created and i can insert data to the text file. The data must be like that:
Name, Message, Time bob, test, 12.00

I want to insert this line "Length|Ga|Color |(b r c )|(b r c )| X Y | X Y" at below wherever i find the line " | From | To | From | To". in my text file

Is there anyone here who can help me with my problem in importing text file using vb.net and then after the importing, the imported data will be insert in sql server?
I have written a small application that uses a dictionary file (txt file) which is stored in named directory currently. Can I embed the txt file into the project, so that i can distribute to people and not have the need for a separate text file.If this isn't possible, How do i publish the application so that it includes the txt file?
I made a text file (.txt) in my project by going to Add New Item and then Text File. I want to have my text file be loaded into the rich text box i have on my form but it doesn't work. It says it can find the file. This is my code:
Is there a way I can open and read a text file within a .NET project? I know I can use the System.IO.StreamReader class to do it for a Windows text file.I'd like to store some SQL scripts for upgrading my database in text files within my project. Since I'm writing this in VB I can't just paste the scripts directly into my code due to line continuations, where I could if it were C#. These are very long scripts.
Its a League Organizer, basicly ive started it off with 16 teams and end up with 1(winner) 16 box's on the far left, then 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. the 16 box's have "Team 1" "Team 2" etc... ive put a new/clear/open/save button in that order.
BUT this is my problem..when i save(Save Button) the text file saves all the text wrong it ends up like this...Team 1Team 2Team 3Team 4 Etc...
But i want it to save like this
Team 1 Team 2 Team 3 Team 4 Etc...
The code is...
Dim Save As New SaveFileDialog Save.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt|ALL FILES (*.*)|*.*"
I'm using this script to add text to a variety of .txt's on the fly: Const ForAppending = 8
[Code]...
So I'm sending text with the program launchy this .vbs (addln.vbs) - ("$$" c:ideas.txt) is what the argument is if I want to send to ideas.txt for example All I want to do is make it so I get the date and time right before whatever text I send to this text file. I don't think this would be too complicated.
I have a text file data to insert into a database for report
ITEM01,Toy ITEM02,Card
Let me briefly list down the steps i took to achieve my result.
1) Insert data into Database using text file 2) Display the records from the NEW Database(Item2) using DataGridView 3) Using datagridview, i use to checkboxes to determine the selectedRow 4) Once the selectedRow are selected. I press on Delete Button
Delete Button - Update the Item2 Table field 'Deleted' to 1 - Delete the ItemID by using datagridview selectedrow cell value Which means in 1 loop, i process two database transaction.. Is there something wrong? How do i shorten the process to just delete the item without querying two database.
I'm trying to include a few text files in my project. These files are read and used to make decisions in the program. Ordinarily, I would just set the file path and open the file via StreamReader, no problem. However, this application now needs to work on other computers and I want to include the text files in the application directory. I've researched two ways to do this:
1) Include the files as resources and reference them via my.resources.
I've gotten this to work ok, except the files are opened as strings upon starting the application. They are fairly large files, which I imagine is taking a lot of unnecessary memory. Also, StreamReader wont work with these files as resources, or at least I can't figure out how to. My application is already based around using StreamReader so I don't really want to change this.
2) Include the files as additional items. I know how to do this too, but I can't reference the files programmatically.
Can I use a resource text file via StreamReader or how would I reference the files if they're included in my project directory?
I have no code specifically for this part of my project just saying this ahead of time.I have not used text files that are inside my project but I want to be able to open the file when I load my form and save it when I close my form.I know how to save manualy and same with opening but that defeats the purpose this has to do as much as possible on its own.All I have are code from a project I made a while back which was a notepad program.[code]however I need this to all happen on its own and it needs to install these text files with the program hence why they are in with the project there are about 30 text files that will need to be with it so if I can get help with one then I can figure the rest out.
it is a normal text file, I would read it then , (This part I got it) print it out to a reciept printer, send insert ascii code to force the printer to cut the recipt.
So there's lots of examples of how to do this if your text file happens to be in XML format. However, my text file is not in XML format and as it contains over 172,000 rows I'm not that keen on adapting it (it's a dictionary)! The text file has been included in the project as a resource. So far I've got a DataGridView (could use a DataRepeater if easier?), a BindingSource and a DataSet.
The DataSet has a DataTable already defined in the designer with one column.I've managed to load the text file into a String and then create a StringReader based on that String variable, however I cannot find anyway of loading those strings into the DataTable.
Dim listWords As String = My.Resources.WordList Dim strReader As New System.IO.StringReader(listWords) 'What now???There are some examples of using OleDb functionality but all assume you're loading from a text file residing somewhere in the filesystem, not a project resource.(I'm also assuming that on building the application the resources get embedded (somewhere) rather than being accessed from [AppDir]/Resources/[filename] ??)
I'm using VB 2008. I'm making a project which stores patients name, reason for visit etc in a text file using filestreaming like:
Dim fs As New FileStream("H:/ICS3U Final Project/Betolli.txt", FileMode.Append, FileAccess.Write) Dim textfile As New StreamWriter(fs)
Is there any way the doctor can literally open up the text file by a click of a button. I don't mean like : read all lines or a STREAMREADER.I want to physically be able to open the text file which is located on the computer harddrive so the doctor can read it.
I have an SQL database, and 50 text files, and Visual Basic 2010 Premimum,I need to find a specific line of text in the text files and then take the next 37 lines of text and save them in my database. I need advice as to point me in the right direction
I have a question. I've got a main application let call that main. And i had some problems with my database and such so i started a whole new project just to fix my databaseproblems. I'll call this project database. Now database works the way i want it to when i run it by itself. Now i inserted all of the files into main hoping i would work there aswell. Ofcourse i had to make some changes because of the namedifference. When i run i don't get any errors but when i try my validation there are some errors there. Main is project which has a mdiparentform and several childs. I'm thinking this in some way causes the problem because when i insert the database project into another (no mdiparent having) project it works just fine.
I hope someone can make sense of this and help me out. Because i tried everything. I copy the code from database to main, I retyped it myself, I even started with an empty form so that I had to create the dataset and everything all over again.
How can I add a form from one project into a new project, I dont want all the code just the form layout. My form has alot of textboxes and labels and I dont want to have to recreate it. I see the insert from existing item but not sure how to get just design and layout?I am going from 2005 to 2008 express if that makes a difference
