I need to make events based on which index is selected in the listbox. I was wondering if there was an inbuilt function of if I need to use If conditions.
vb.net Private Sub ListBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ListBox1.SelectedIndexChanged
That code will run when the selected index is changed regardless of which index. But I need each index/row to run a different event. I know I can use If conditions to get what I want, but I expect it'd be a lot more efficient with an inbuilt method.
I click on items in my listbox and then hit a submit button, but when istep through my button_clicked code it doesn't detect any selectedindex. All controls are in the same form and there are no panels. Why can't I detect what items were clicked on in the listbox?
I have a listbox of the 50 states. I have one textbox and as I enter the first few letters of the name I'm supposed to use the SelectedIndex property of the listbox to display the appropriate name. I am not very good at programming at all. Is this a quick and easy thing to do and if so how is it done?
I have a listbox and two buttons. Each of my button is labeled UP and DOWN. When I press UP, the current item in my listbox will be moved one level (or index) up and when I press DOWN button the current item goes one level down. I have been trying to manipulate the selectedindex property but it isn't working.
I have a listbox that contains numbers that vary from 0 to 99. My problem is when the number in the listbox is 0, listbox1.selectedindex will not return a value. So I cannot use removeat(x) which works for all other numbers. Can anyone give me an idea on how to do
I have a form with a dropdownbox two listboxes and two buttons on it. I removed a "select" button as I just used the DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged, but the event would not fire until I used the suggestion from:Why DropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged event does not fire?
It involved changing the AutoPostBack='true' and EnableViewState="true" properties
So now the DropDownList works but with the two listboxes, the SelectedIndex stays as -1 and does not change even when selected.

I think it has something to do with post backs, page_load or the selectedindex changed event of the listbox, it worked perfectly before I made the modifications.
It appears that I cannot assign the selectedindex for a databound listbox if it has no parent, but I can do so if I have populated the list "manually" from the same datatable. In my code example, the "if" line toggles between loading a list via data binding and loading a list "manually" (both use the same data table). In each case I attempt to set the selected index afterwards. With manual loading, the selected index is set; with data binding, an error is thrown (which can be avoided by assigning the listbox a parent, but the "manual" equivalent doesn't need this). Is this a bug?
First of all, I'm a somewhat-experienced VB3 Developer, and I'm trying to convert a VB3 app to VB.NET.I got the programming guide (http:url....) by searching the web.The problem I'm having is the syntax for .NET is way different than VB3, and that's OK, but finding the correct syntax is very difficult.I'm trying to eliminate duplicates in a ListBox:
When I access the Programing guide, I see that:
ListBox.SelectedIndex Property
Gets or sets the zero-based index of the currently selected item in a ListBox.I also have Murach's and Stephen's manuals, and they say the same thing.Visual Studio converted The old .ListIndex to a VB6 Function:
If VB6.GetItemString(PlayList_ListBox, I) = VB6.GetItemString(PlayList_ListBox, I + 1) Then
This is Try #1. It generates: VB6 is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. Then I read that VB6 is only for converting old code.So then I tried SelectedIndex:
Ive just started vb.net programming, and Im trying to make an application to collect twitter usernames and addresses - this is how all the links look:HTML
I have in my database a smallint field with 2 values 0/1,is it possible to bind that field to a combobox with 2 values "Yes" "No" without creating another datatable for Yes/No values or to modify sql query to bring Yes/No instead 0/1 something like binding to SelectedIndex ?
Is it at all possible to reset the existing set selected index properties for a combo box?or example if the user selects the first selected index option an action occurs, the combo box then loads in another set of options and the selected index properties are then resetIf the user then selects the first option in the combo box again, it will perform a different action to the previous one.
I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .
I am trying to access a specific item in a listbox. For example, I have 5 items in a list box and I need each one on a different textbox, but I cannot find the code necessary to access a individual item in a listbox. I need the third item in a textbox but I cant find the code to access that SPECIFIC item and turn it into text in the texbox.
So in the tag of <a>, for each element, there is a class called "twtr-user" So basically, is there a way to go through the webpage and add each username and address to a listbox? This is what Ive come up with so far:
For Each temp As HtmlElement In wb.document.Links Dim str As String str = temp.GetAttribute("class")
[code]....
The problem is that (1) this doesnt work at all (2) Is there a way to add the href address and also the outer text?
how I can read a specific line's value in a listbox.fx I want to read the value of line 4 in a listbox to add this value to an Integer, which I can subtract from another value?
How can you remove a specific line from a listbox? How can you like make it so instead of password it would show ******* but on a listbox because it doesnt have passwordchar option. and how can you make it save the listbox data in the my.settings
I just started learning VB.NET about a moth ago (I have been taking classes, so its been about 5 days worth of classes) and I decided to work on this project idea I had. Essentially, it's a database to keep track of anime and manga that I, or whoever else uses it, have watched/read.[code]...
However, now I want to make it so that when one selects a specific title in the list box, it will show the data in the tags below the <series> tag that matches the item selected in a label. One thing I just thought of is than since the list box gets populated in the order that the series are in, it could be easier to go in order from first item equaling the first <series> and so on.
as per title, I want specific lines in listbox as bold or with colours.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim xyz() As Byte = {&H1B, &H0, &H10, &H1B, &H0}
ListBox1.Items.Add("XYZ: " & read_write_str(deviceHandle, xyz, xyz.Length))I get reply from device for i.e. 1234567890, I want this to be in BOLD or if I could add colours to it.
As far as I know, there is no way to grey out/disable specific items in the ListBox control? I want to make a list of surveys that need to be answered, but grey out/disable those that the user has already answered.Or is there some way to do it with ListBox?
I have one listbox an import button and a save button. Basically the import button allows the user to select photos and he list box then shows the directory for them. Is there a way to save the image that has been selected to a different place? whilst at he same time changeing the file name.e.g. the list box would have the directory like this "c:documentspicturesimage1.jpg" I would then like to save this file like such "c:desktop est103.jpg"
problem that i am facing is i want to add array of object as a single item in listbox. in vb6 i was using this Label1.Caption = Label1.Caption & Mid$ (strInput, intI, 1) & " " List1.AddItem (Label1.Caption) i was using label. caption to store object but not work in vs2008 because label.text only take text and left other values
I am having problems with copying from one listbox to another and keeping the paths of the files in the listbox's. At the moment i have two listbox's, listbox1 shows the list of files without the directory paths showing. Listbox2 is used to add items from listbox1 which work ok but what i need is to be able to preserve the directory paths to each file. how to do this and have searched high and low for a solution without any luck.
I have worked out one way of doing it but i think there is a better way of doing it as the reverse does not seem to work. So basicly i want listbox1 to list the files without the paths and pass it on to listbox2 so that the files can be copied to temp directory as they are being add to listbox2.
Below is my
[CODE]...................
Routine to add items from listbox1 to listbox2: I have created another listbox3 (which is in bold), which is hidded under listbox1 and holds all the paths to the files and is use to copy the files from there original directory to a new directory.
[CODE]...................
Routine to add items back to listbox1 and remove them from listbox2. I have created another listbox4 which is hidden under listbox2 which i was trying add the paths from listbox3.
I have 2 listboxes on my form.Listbox 1 - populated with "available" field namesListbox 2 - populated with "selected" field names. There cannot be the same field name in both listboxes - it's either one of the other. The logic I was going to apply was to populate Listbox 1 with every field name ... and then as I populated Listbox with the field names which the user has already selected, remove the corresponding item from Listbox 1.
I have a dropdown list that I am binding to a datatable. Here is the code I am using to do it:[code].....
Unfortunately, the line ddlBuildAddr.SelectedIndex = addressId is failing. Looking at this line through the debugger, the SelectedIndex goes to -1, while addressId goes to 2. What gives? Why would the assignment operator flatout not work?
Now I want to update a corresponding textbox with the text that is in the new SelectedIndex of the DropDownList via postback. What's the easiest way to do this?I know how I can do this in javascript.... I was just wondering if i could do this in the VB code behind.
