View 6 RepliesI've made a small game that lets the user move a picturebox around with arrowkeys. The monster picturebox is moved towards the player and keeps growing while you are "alive". If it touches you, you lose.
How to improve my code. Im the worst ever at OOP programming. The main reason is i dont understand how i can pass variables between subs/functions e.t.c. I've read up on overloading operators but i dont feel that i can grasp it. If someone has any comments or any simple examples on improving my ability i wouldnt mind hearing them ^^
This is what i have now. Attached project (with "graphics") without .exe files and all code is also below. Also an image of what it looks like below.
CODE:
Form 1. I have 1 picturebox with image how to make when they move the mouse to the picturebox to show in right or left a new window (to read from form2) and when they moveout the mouse from the picturebox auto to close the window
View 4 RepliesOk, so I have a new challenge for the D.I.C. Heads. I'm making a simple little game using VB controls. I know it's not the best idea in the world but it'll have to do for now!
Here is whats happening. I've created a class that inherits the PictureBox control that I want to use to place my game pieces on the playing field.
Dim pbArmyUnit(0) As ArmyUnit ' ArmyUnit is a Class that inherits Picturebox now I create the playing pieces at runtime as needed and append them to the array. Player currently buys the units and places them on the playing field.
[Code]...
On a side note how can I look at a stack of pictureboxes all created at runtime to determine whats at a particular location? Example. I move my army unit over top of the picturebox that shows my forest. How can I tell what picturebox I just moved on top of? does that make sense? I don't need code for this just directions on looking at the right info so I can figure it out.
I am creating my terrain at runtime as well since it's randomly generated. and I'm basically making an array of 192 pictureboxes with the appropriate terrain image as well as some other modifiers. Just like with my armies above I've inherited picturebox and created a terrain class array, this way I'm able to add my movement modifiers etc, directly to the picturebox I place on the screen. It's these pieces of terrain that I want to be able to check before allowing the unit to move into them! to get movement costs etc.
Im trying to resize a picturebox dynamically using .size.height and .size.width Its not working. This is the error message: "Expression is a value and therefore cannot be the target of an assignment." Never used height and width before. Been trying to find the answer, but it seems beyond me. Im sure its easy. Anyone know whats wrong with this?
[Code]...
I am creating an application where I can move resize controls around and this way set up an application. I need to know how to select a control (e.g.: textbox, button...) at runtime as I would do in Visual Studio for example.Then once I could do this the next question would be how can I change the icon of the mouse when it goes onto such control?
View 1 Repliesi have a form with a picture as background. On this picture I want to buttons or pictures (click areas where lamps are). I have made a transparant picturebox and when clicked he shows a small picture of a lamp indicating the light is on.The form should be full screen.The problem is: When the form is used on different monitors with different resolutio settings, or when the form is resized, the pictures are on another (wrong) part of the picture. that the pictureboxes stay on the correct position related t the background?
I do not use another big picturebox in the background while the transparacy will not work.
Is there any way in c# or VB to automatically move the controls in a panel when the window is resized. I do not want the Anchor property, which only resizes the control. THe use is that controls are added at runtime to the form, and when the locations/values are loaded on a computer with a larger monitor, they are in the incorrect positions.
View 8 RepliesI have the following code, which I use for in another control and it works fine, although the other control is a custom control that inherits from Control.
Public Class MoveableLabel
Inherits Label
Const WM_NCHITTEST As Integer = &H84
Const HTCLIENT As Integer = &H1
Const HTCAPTION As Integer = &H2
[Code] .....
I using vb6.0.I want to load a image into a picture box and resize it in runtime through mouse.Image type is jpg or png.my logic is,
1. load image[jpg or png ] into picture box and draw a rectangle using rectangle API, according to image size.
2. resize rectangle through mouse and according to the size of rectangle change size of image.
How do you get it so when you resize the form, the buttons move with the re sized form and they don't just disappear?
View 5 RepliesI was wondering if it was possible to make an image resize to fit a picturebox. The context is that i'm making a web browser, and I want to make there to be the favicon of the website and i'm getting the favicon via this [code]...
View 1 RepliesI am new with visual basic 2008 express edition. I wanted to ask on how to resize an image in a picturebox with a set height and width.[code]...
All it does is open a file with open dialog filters. I have a set height and width for the picturebox. If i open a picture with a height and width greater than that of the picturebox, the picture box will only display a portion of the picture.
I am trying to figure out how to go about my two problems i am currently having when trying to display a resized picture into a picturebox on my form.
What does it need to be in order to grab the image thats already been cropped in the pbCrop picturebox? I have the cropped image in the pbCrop picturebox and i then am trying to resize it.[code]...
I have been scouring for examples to give me some idea on what I need to do to create a skinable scrollbar. The only thing close that seems to work like I need is Cool Scrollbar The problem I am running into is on the designer...when I move it, resize it, or change the direction of the control (ScrollbarLayout), it seems to want to re-name the class the item is an object of from CBar to cbar.CBar. Once I position and align it properly to check, I can go through the Form1.Designer and simply remove the cbar. and get no errors. When I run the program, it is fine, so this is telling me that there is something wrong with the movement in the class...
[Code]....
i have loaded an image to picturebox from resource which can be any size,but i just want that a image i have loaded to my picturebox,image resolution is 48*48,than now how i can set image size in picturebox.
View 4 RepliesI'm currently in the process of making a dynamic signature generator, and I want to make the user be able to see what he would get... So I thought of putting a browse button and allowing them to load up a background image for their signature, but I also want the picturebox to resize according to that image's size. I need them to be the same size because of the image's X, Y are needed for the signature.
So I'm using this code for that:
LocalMousePosition = PictureBox1.PointToClient(Cursor.Position)
xy.Text = ("X=" & LocalMousePosition.X & "," & "Y= " & LocalMousePosition.Y)
It works fine, but it only gets the coordinates for the picturebox, not the actuall image, so I think if the picturebox is the same size as the picturebox it would get them just fine..
The basis of the program is that the user enters info into to text boxes then hits a button, when the button is clicked and all the parameters are met, the visible property of a rather large picture box becomes true. What I want to do is have the form start off small, just big enough to hold the labels, text boxes and buttons and then resize when the picture box is made visible.
View 2 RepliesI have some problem about image sizing, citing the process: I've create 2 button and picture box. The button1 load opendialog to load image then the image will be viewed at picturebox and the button2 will save to sql table. My problem is how could I resize the image before saving to sql table.
My code:
Button1_click
Picturebox1.image=image.fromfile(opendialog.filename)
end
Button2_click
--before saving
dim myImage as Image=Picturebox.image
How could I resize the actual dimension of image?
I'm using this code to show an image from a link on a picturebox.

I'm searching for a solution to resize image(jpg) being passed in from an array in Picturebox Control on .NETCF 2.0 in VB.NET without resorting to using the opennetcf library, is it possible?
View 1 RepliesI am currently working on a game that I want to add squirrels running around at random for me to kick off the form.
Ex..
picturebox.location=200,200
And I set a new location for it, as 5,5, how can iIget the picturebox to move to that coordinate, a few pixels at a time until it gets there, so it looks like my squirrel is running to that location?
I am creating a vending machine that has moving items. My issue is making a certain picturebox move left/right to a specified point, then down to the " Item return" label. I'm using a timer to make the items move. I just cant figure out how to get this item to stop then go down then stop again.
After that I'll display a message telling the user the item is ready. How would i get the item I moved to go back to it's original place?
