Oct 6, 2009I am using VB2008 Express. In my program I have a loop that is updating variables. As these variables are updated, the updated information must be displayed in the RichTextBox. Everything works fine and I can display my first line of data, but then the next time the second line of data overwrites the first line. I would like each update to be on a new line, so I need to force a new line in my code. Here is the code for part of the loop so far.[code]

Mar 10, 2008I'm a new VB programmer, although I have a decent background in java.Anyways, I'm learning VB and I'm trying to read data from an Excel file using VB 2008 and can't figure out how to accomplish this. I can't seem to get any data from the Excel spreadsheet to display in a simple Windows form. Also, there's a decent amount of data in the spreadsheet so I was wondering if it makes sense to just read data as needed from the excel spreadsheet or if there was some type of data structure that I could import the entire Excel spreadsheet into and do my analysis from there.

Sep 25, 2009I am having some trouble thinking of a way to do this, what i have is an .xml file loaded and data read from it and used in my application, the thing is the data varies in each .xml for example:

The fields vary on application execution, there maybe 5 fields with data one time, then 13 the next etc, if only 5 fields have been written to the xml and i load them all like above i get an error (because that data hasn't been written)is there a way to load the data dynamically based on how many fields have been written kinda thing?

Jul 28, 2009Is there a way to set BitConverter to produce Int32 values from BigEndian-encoded bytes?I feel like there might be a way to temporarily "set" the encoding to BigEndian before calling BitConverter, but I haven't figured it out.Right now I'm just reversing the 4 bytes before calling BitConverter, I guess I could create my own function that adds the bytes with the appropriate multiplier, but it seems a little inelegant if it can be done simply with BitConverter.

Nov 29, 2009I have a text file that the first part of my program writes data to, but for this second section, I need to read that file and use pieces of that data and average them out. The text file is setup up with 90 lines of data starting with the first 9 lines containing data and the 10th is a blank space. I need to read line 6, 8, and 9. I need to Loop through the file so I am using the Do While Loop. Where I am confused is when using the For...Next Loop to tell the program to read a specific line. If you have any info that can lead me to the answer that would be great. I would prefer you just point me in the right direction because I would very much like to somewhat figure it out in the process.

i want to read data from both of these tables. I tried using SQLDataReader and then populating into datatables but then i can only read the values of 1st table. I want to read both the table values. How do i do it? please let me know if you guys have any ideas how to deal with this.

Now I need to pick certain strings out of the rather large amount of text data and have the lines stored in variables, but the trick of it is, the exact string is unknown. The exact function should be, that the code finds certain tags from the source code, say <td> and </td> and takes the string data in between those tags, what ever it may be.

Setting/Reading Specific Values Of A Richtextbox Line To An Array
Dec 7, 2009I have a button which reads a comma separated value file and loads it into a richtextbox. Each line contains comma separated chars.
Once the file is loaded in the richtextbox, i want to be able to select specific values from each line and store them into an array.
For example:
Line1: a,b,c,d,e
I want to be able to place only the values "b" and "c" into an array.
I was thinking something like creating a menu for the richtextbox which will be triggered on right click, then highlight the values I want, press right click and select 'place these values in an array'.
it doesn't have to be the way i proposed it, but it definitely must use a richtextbox.

It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. Apr 2, 2012Data binding should be an extremely simple thing to manage but I can't find a SIMPLE solution to the following problem.
I have two forms
Form1 contains a 4x4 MSFlexGrid (unfortunately an unmanaged COM object but I can merge cells, which I can't do with a managed Datagrid)
Form2 contains other controls which change the data in the Flexgrid.
I connect the two with a Public 4x4 array. Form2 changes the data in this array. I can update the grid data by reading the array. But how do I bind the Grid to the array so that it auto-updates - which is the whole point of binding isn't it?

Data From Testbox To Richtextbox
Apr 14, 2009I have a text box, in which the user types some numbers. I want the numbers that are typed in to be diplayed in the richtextbox next to it. I got it to work, except for it types on a new line every number I press. Say i want to type in 1.0, as soon as I type 1 it displays in the richtextbox, then I type "1." and it displays "1." on the next line of the textbox, then I finnaly type the last number "1.0" and it displays all three numbers on the next line. I want to be able to type everything first and then have it display in the richtextbox.

Jan 21, 2010I use a richtextbox control on a windows form for users enter formatted text into it and store it in an oracle table clob field. I use clob because data can be longer than a varchar2 field could store. There is no problem when I write it down to database (I write its rtf value using bind variables and OracleClient.OracleParameter) but when I want to read it back to the richtextbox there is nothing in the richtextbox control.
I checked database turns the data as I wrote it down. But the control displays nothing.
