How can I recreate windows explorer in my form? I would like my program to start with an explorer like window that you can navigate threw folders. Also I would like for the location of the folder that is being viewed in a text box. Like a navigation bar. Where should I start?
I have databinding in an ASP.Net application to a GridView. This gridview is bound to an ObjectDataSource as per standard usage.
The problem I have is that one of my bound fields uses the property DataFormatString="{0:C}" and due to the currency format being displayed when an update is attempted and the object recreated I get a error as such "$13.00 is not a valid value for Decimal."
Clearly this is a result of the column using a FormatString and then attempting to bind it back to a decimal property I have in my object called UnitPrice.
I am assuming there is some markup I can set that can specify how the value is translated back?
For anyone curious the solution ended up looking like this...
why i cant see the Form Design?and when i double-click the Form1.vb on the Solution Explorer i got error:does anyone here encounter this probz before?how to fix this.. (should i reinstall vbnet?)
Im recreating mario a side scroller game for college. im tryin to make mario jump through the use of a timer i want to be able to still move direction when jumping. so basically when i hit space bar i want point y to - 1 until it gets to 12 and then for it to go back down again. i havnt even got this far yet as when i was testin this theory the timer freezes if the arrows are held in. at the moment im only getting the timer to beep once it has reached 10.
I want a walkthrough on how to use an Explorer Form. Basically I want to click on a treenode and see all its children on the list view. This means i want to populate a list view at runtime when i click on a tree node.
I'm trying to add an explorer form with a listview and treeview. My problem is when i select a node on the treeview.I want its child nodes to appear on the listview. They must appear with the images i have in the treeview as well.
I am trying to programmatically post to a textbox on a web form in IE - I have tried sendkeys - but I dont find them reliable or consistent - The code below is perfect - but only seems to work in a webbrowser control. How do I (click a button/select a radiobutton) send 'hello world' to a textbox on a webform in IE? By the way I would be happy to use the webbrowser control (so the code below would work) - but the webpage (which is not the one in the code below) runs locally on my machine (I dont have any control over it) and does not seem to work within a webbrowser control
I want to make a program that is similar to Windows Explorer. It will have a button that when you click it it opens a FolderBrowserDialog and it will have an area that displays the contents of the selected folder. I want to have a label that displays the current folder path (i.e. 'USERDocuments...') and I also would like a feature to search all files on the computer. Also, is it possible that when I click on a file in the contents of the selected folder it displays its information (i.e. Name, Size, etc.)? And can I also make it so that if you double click on another folder in the current folder's display it opens that folder? And can I have a button to go up one directory?

It was suggested that I pose this question here instead of the installation forum:In VB2010, when opening a class, form, etc. from the Solution Explorer, I would like it to open as a floating window, not as a tabbed document. Is there a way to do this?
I have a page open on Internet Explorer, the site uses the Server.Redirect method which basically keeps the page reading "sitename.com/default.aspx" even when you move to different pages.. so with that said I really can't load it within a web browser on my form application.
I need to auto fill out the fields on an external Internet Explorer, not really in need of actually processing the page.
A form I created, was able to modify and shows when the program is run has suddenly changed in the solution explorer. Now when the form "MainMenu.vb" is highlighted in the solution explorer the icon for "view designer" vanishes from the toolbar. The "view code" shows "MainMenu.vb" but there is not any code there and only an empty "General" and "Declarations" show. The icon to the left of the "MainMenu.vb" is like a module icon not a form icon.
Im trying to read a usb in a port using a file explorer. does anyone know how i can use the file explorer form to browse files in multiple drives that i specify? and how can i read and browse a usb port in vb.net (i.e. Write files to a usb or create an app directory on the usb.)
I am having this strange thing happen where I have a Module that contains multiple classes in my project. In the Solution Explorer, the module shows up as a Windows Form and if I double click on it to open it, it tries to open the Form Designer. What could be causing VS to think that it is a Windows Form instead of a module?
I want to open explorer to a specific destination but both shell() and process.start() are not opening explorer. They both open other applications like calc and notepad though. It works fine when debugging but not after I publish.
Stupid question, but how do I get access to this Explorer? To create a performance session for Windows client application:(1) Open the solution in the Visual Studio IDE. (2) On the Analyze menu, click Launch Performance Wizard.(3) From the Which of the following available targets would you like toprofile? drop-down list, select the name of the application that you wantto profile, and then click Next. You can add more binaries later
Below is a practical example of how this would be useful:A practical example would be an FTP client where a user dragdrops files to be uploaded and would naturally want to dragdrop remote files to their local folders with the intention of triggering a download of that file to the folder they dragged the listview item to.
In the Solution Explorer window, is it possible to change the highlight color of selected items *when the form does not have focus*?For example, selecting a module in the Solution Explorer highlights that module's name in Blue, then when the focus is lost by moving to another window in the IDE, that blue highlight becomes a very, very light gray (on some LCD monitors in particular). I'd like to make that light gray a bit easier to see.Is this possible? I'm running VS2008 SP1 on Vista 64.
You know how you can use REMOTE DESKTOP and see your local drives as a type of SYSTEM FOLDER with a comment of DISK FROM REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION. If your browse to a folder you might see the ADDRESS look like this
\tsclientCWindows
What is tsclient? Is that a driver that is "expressing" itself like a folder structure? How about when you plug a camera or other device in a usb port and it shows as a G: drive, for instance?I'm guessing the G: drive trick is just a "driver" starting up for the usb port that somehow makes itself seen as a mapped drive. Is the \tsclient thing done the same way? Is there some kind of tsclient.exe that runs to do whatever this does? How can I make my own "pseudo" folder structure?
I want to make a program that displays files in listview and makes the files clickable. How could I do this? I just need a little bit of help and I want the files to be displayed on form_load and if you need a location to display files from for an example, here is my location:C:WINDOWS
I'm not asking for anything huge, just an explanation or example, maybe a small amount of code.
Some of my students end up with a different icon in the Solution Explorer when they create applications. An example is the attached Exam.vb icon, which includes a little arrow into the normal Form icon (see pic) . I am guessing it means it is linked some how. When the application is zipped and submitted, an error is thrown when I unzip it to grade it which indicates that the file in not part of the project, and it references the absolute address on the original application.Any idea what caused this and how can I instruct the students to avoid it in the future?
