VS 2008 Retrieving Sections From .ini And Adding Item To Combobox
Nov 2, 2009
I'm currently trying to add all the sections of a specified .ini into a combobox.[code]Now that's my section in the .ini, but it's scrambled and placed into multiple lines. I just want it on a single line as said in the .ini.Does anyone have any idea how to get values between brackets "[hi]" and place the value between the brackets into the combobox items?
I have an Access database with a Parts table. I'm using tableadapters in my project. A datagridview on my form is filled manually in code. One column of the DGV contains a columntype of combobox. I've got a bindingsource on my form whose source is the Parts tableadapter. The combobox column is tied to the bindingsource and is displaying fldDescription.
The part descriptions can be changed by the users, but the original part description is saved in another table that is used to fill the grid. If part "widget" gets changed to "widget, large" I can no longer display "widget" in the combobox of the grid. I need to know how to be able to add it to the bindingsource so I can display it in the combobox. I don't want it saved to the Parts table though.
I'm new to vb.net and I have what probably is a simple question, but one that I am stuck on. I'm trying to add a single item to a ca combo box at run time. For example, a user selects a category from the first drop down box at run time, say "Admin", I want to add a single item to the combo box below it: Not applicable.
I want to adding checked item from checkedlistbox to my combobox, but i have a little problem here.Combobox only show 1 item last checked. This is my sample code.
If CheckedListBox1.CheckedItems.Count <> 0 Then For i As Integer = 0 To CheckedListBox1.CheckedItems.Count - 1 cbCheckedItem.Text = CheckedListBox1.CheckedItems(i).ToString Next i End If
In the form below you see how the initial selected item is the first record of the table.. these controls are bound.. I want to initially show "Select one" in the combo box or nothing at all and the other controls not to be bound until an actual item is selected in the combobox..
I have developed a drawing tool that allows the user to add graphically referenced database records to a picturbox. While for testing purposes i was simply loading any picture into the picture box what i want is on selecting a building name from a combobox that it automatically populates the related floor levels (that apply to that building)to appear as a selection in a 2nd combobox. On selection of say 1st floor i want to load the relevant floor plan (JPEG)image into the picturebox. The tool i have developed has an estate builder function where you ccan build your estate profile i.e specify the buildings and floors etc and these are added to a database file. What i would like to do is at the same time specify the floor plan JPEG file location and for this to be stored in the database in a way which would enable me to load the image automaticaly when i select the floor level
vb.net Dim NewsItem As New ListViewItem NewsItem.Text = reader("Title") NewsItem.Tag = reader("NewsID") NewsItemList.Items.Add(NewsItem)
I'm looping though results in a db and adding items to my list view however i it's adding like tihs
ListViewItem: { Title showing here } ListViewItem: { Another Title showing here } ListViewItem: { And AnotherTitle showing here } What am I doing wrong it should just read
Ok, I'm trying to set a value to each item in my combobox, but I don't know how. Lets say I have ComboBox1 that contains the letter A-Z, 26 items, I would want to set each letter a specific number, then use that number for something else. Like, if I set the letter A to equal the number 4, and the user has chosen A in the combo, I could do something like make a Msgbox say that value(4). Does that make sense?
I'm trying to read the records into a combobox from the database without any success. There is no problem with the connection, but something seems wrong with my coding. Perhaps someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I wantt o change the selected item in a combo box if a user enters a name which is already in my dataset. The Combo Box is linked to my database set and all the other text boxes are linked using my databindingsource. How can I do this, I have this code but it does not change it.
vb.net Try Dim name As String = "" Dim inputname As Object = TextBox1.Text
Is that possible to provide a combobox that each item has its own checkbox?I'm looking for built-in component that enables it. I remember it was possible on VB6 but can't find it in VB.NET 2008
i am trying to count up to a number and add each number to a combo box. so for instance, the string value = 7. i want the combobox to count up to 7 in single numbers starting with 1
I have a little problem that i want to show a "sub Combobox" with the help of super combobox. i don't know it is possible or not becux i'm beginner in VB.
I am using this to populate column1 combobox from a text file and it works fine.[code]I tried to add a number range using this to populate columns 4 and 5..[code]The number range populates the combobox(CB) fine but when i select a number from the CB it causes a error and selects the first item, the error loops evertime the mouse hovers over the CB..[code]
I am dynamically creating and adding a ComboBox to a specified column in DGV. I also set a DataSource, DisplayMember and ValueMember for the created ComboBox. Somewhere else in my program, I select a number ( let's say 5 ) and based on that number I want to change the SelectedIndex of the current ComboBoxColumn ( I actually loop through the Columns collection ).I tried something like this in a event handler I created:
vb.net Private Sub combobox_validated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Dim combobox As System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox = sender Dim colIndex As Integer = combobox.Tag
[code]....
You will notice here, that I'm not actually trying to change the .SelectedIndex property, but the Value of the current cell. How do I reference the actual ComboBox?
I have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:
Private Sub cbMaterialType_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles cbMaterialType.DrawItem If MaterialTableAdapter1.GetData.Item(cbMaterialType.SelectedIndex).InStock = 1 Then cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Green Else cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red End If End Sub
I've never worked with any form of color in comboboxes before and this is my first attempt at the drawitem event.
I have a function that is suppost to take a list of strings then split up each part. This is my code For i As Integer = 1 To UPdata.Count If InStr(UPdata(i), "!!") Then Dim DataTBP() As String Do DataTBP = UPdata(i).Split("!!") [Code] .....
One section of UPdata would look something like ABC#DEF@GHIHSJD!!143#ISJ@PSIODH!! What I want it to do is firstly separate the lines using !! so i would be left with ABC#DEF@GHIHSJD 143#ISJ@PSIODH That part works fine and I am left with an array DataTBP() with 2 values. The strings found above. Its then suppose to extract the part before # for every string left in DataTBP (In my example two) but the function that's meant to do this:
For j As Integer = 0 To UBound(DataTBP) Dim DataType As String = DataTBP(j) DataType = DataType.Split("#") Select Case DataTBP(j) [Code] .....
Throws me the error Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'. But I don't know why as DataTBP(j) is a string not an array but a string. I've also tried For Each a As String In DataTBP Dim DataType As String = a.Split("#") Next It throws the same error
I have a databound combobox that contains 2 fields but obviously only 1 is displayed. My question is...how do I retrieve the field that is NOT the "Displaymember"?
Lets say my program requires a password of "vbforums" to bootup. The user enters "vbforums" and clicks enter to proceed to the program.I want to make a registry value in the registry under my program with that text. And now on load up i would want to be able to check to see if the correct password is in that specific spot in the registry.I have never fooled with the registry so im pretty lost, i tried doing a bit of searching on the forums but couldn't find anything. Anyone know how i would do this?
I have 13 variables, all called Items1, Items2, Items3 and so on. I have a combo box with items in, each time I click a button I want it so whatever is selected is stored in a variable and if the button is selected again then it stores whatever is selected in the next variable. I know all the code for selecting items in a combo box and transferring it to a variable but the problem I cannot do is the part where each time a button is clicked it stores whatever is selected in the combo box to the next variable.
For Each Proc as process in process.getprocesses Combobox1.Items.Add(Proc.MainWindowTitle)
to populate a combo box with the list of current process windows, however for every process that doesnt have a main window title there is a blank space, is there a way that I could tell it to not insert the item if it's mainwindowtitle field is blank?
I have a combo box with "yes" and "no" with i select Yes i want the label2 to change the text to "yes" likewise with "no"
I've tried to code it in a logical way as possible but it just doesn't works except for the "wtf" so i think that overall my code is correct but the way i want to retrieve the selected item from combo box is wrong.
Public Class Form1 Dim aa As String Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As
i have a combobox containing countries name and their codes like INDIA:CNT001 then i have a textbox that store the code of country i.e CNT001(fetching from database) Now i want to match that code with the combobox code so that the combobox is set to that item when i click a button. i m using vb.net and sql server as database.
I'm making a program in C#, but I want to test out part of the program I'm going to integrate into it in VB, and what I want to do is divide a file into sections. The files range from 60mb to around 180mb, and I know that it is really hard to open files of that size, so for my app I want it to divide the file into smaller sections and put files in a folder temporarily so It could just read them from there. And I want to break it down to about, 5-10mb per file.
i want to retrieve my data from my ms access database and i it gave me this error..
"Index was outside the bounds of the array."
i put my code on my radio button function because, what i wanted to happen is when the user selected the "vote by party list" selection the party list names will automatically load on the activated combo box.
here's my code.. Private Sub rbPartylist_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles rbPartylist.CheckedChanged If rbPartylist.Checked = True Then
