Ok, I'm trying to set a value to each item in my combobox, but I don't know how. Lets say I have ComboBox1 that contains the letter A-Z, 26 items, I would want to set each letter a specific number, then use that number for something else. Like, if I set the letter A to equal the number 4, and the user has chosen A in the combo, I could do something like make a Msgbox say that value(4). Does that make sense?

View 7 RepliesI have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:

I have 13 variables, all called Items1, Items2, Items3 and so on. I have a combo box with items in, each time I click a button I want it so whatever is selected is stored in a variable and if the button is selected again then it stores whatever is selected in the next variable. I know all the code for selecting items in a combo box and transferring it to a variable but the problem I cannot do is the part where each time a button is clicked it stores whatever is selected in the combo box to the next variable.

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.

Hi,I´m trying to build a form that allows user to choose if he want the combo-boxes sorted or not. The comboboxes are filled when form is loaded, when user clicks on checkbox (chkSortList) then I want the comboboxes to be re-arranged. Can anyone give a hint how to do that ? Tried cmbMerk.Refresh(), cmbMerk.Update() ... but the sort-order do not change. I can re-load the items to the combo-boxes but is there a better way to do it ?

When the checkbox is checked then the data is added from the database to the dropdownlist of the combobox but when i uncheck it then the data is not removed from the dropdownlist of the combobox. I am new to vb.net and I have looked at other topics. I cannot find the answer I need. OK I have a combobox named cboRaceDesc and five checkboxes (CkRaceAfricanAmerican, ChkRaceAmerican Indian, ckRaceAsian, ckRacePacificIslander, and ckRaceWhite). I was going to post an image, but I cannot.cboRaceDesc has two options...Hispanic and Other. If the user selects Other then they have to choose one of the five checkboxes or it will raise an exception when the record is being saved. I am assuming I would generate the code under the "save" button. I know I need to gather the following information in my code:
