I want to get a string from the richtextbox but here how it goes in programming for example i want to get all class/function and variable names in this given code.
Quote:
Private Function Processstring(ByVal strin As String) As String
Dim astrWords As String() = New String() {"parrot"}
Dim strOut As String = strin
Dim strWord As String
[code]....
how would i get the "processstring" by getting it after the word function?
I have a single text file and I need to search the file for any instance of the string (Product_Type: "Hardware", "xxx", "xxx") the Product_Type is constant and has several instances within the file but the "Hardware" changes. I need to show all the values inside the quotes of the "Hardware" string to a listbox.
I have a text box called "txtDescription" and listbox called "lstDetails" and a RichTextBox called "rttFullDes.
When the User inputs the search query into the description box(txtDescription) e.g "books" then it returns all the records that contains the word "books" and displays their Id in the listbox(lstDetails). When you click on the IDs it returns the full description in the Description box(rttFullDes)
This all works fine. But i want all the words to be hightlighted. i have got this code which i found.
Dim wordToFind As String = txtDescription.Text Dim index As Integer = rttFullDes.Text.IndexOf(wordToFind) While index <> -1
I have a richtextbox with a large file inside....I want to be able to search for "Fornication" within the text (KJV Bible) and have every instance of that word to pop up into another richtextbox along with the scripture it is in.
so, i want to find all text that is located in code between "serviceid=" and "&" (example how it would look in html source/in string: serviceid=TC27072318654272127623234&)
so the result would be only text in that format (starting with TC and 23 numbers following it)
I have a textbox which has about 120 lines of text but this can vary. I want to search for an array of words, like Boeing, Airbus, Saab etc there might be 3 options there might be 5 options in this array that i'm looking for. My question is how can I search the textbox and highlight all these words? Similar to (Control + F) in IE8. I've looked at InStr but am unsure if this is what I'm after as it does not seem to work for me.
I need to search for a string in a text file. This string can change so I think I need to set a before and after string with the result being whatever is between. I've started by scrapeing the info from a Printers HTML page.
I'm trying to implement a search on a richtextbox. i want the scroll to move to the found area only if that area is out of the visible part of the text.
I have a RichTextBox where I expect 100 characters per line. Each line can start with the letter A, B, or C. I may have thousands of lines and most of them will start with the letter C.When the cursor is moved from one line to another and is placed on a "C" line, I need to be able to quickly locate the nearest "B" line above it. It may be hundreds of lines away. A loop to search for the "B" line using GetFirstCharIndexFromLine(x) is too slow.
The user may want to paste many lines into the textbox. If necessary, a mild wait after pasting is acceptable.Do you have any suggestions for a technique to accomplish what I need to do? Even just a high level suggestion like "use a linked list"
I am creating a machinists G-Code editor based on a couple of Rich Text Boxes. I am using one for the line numbering and synchronizing its scroll to the main RTB vScroll event. I've created a menu that populates a text line with a G-Code textual template for each command. The user presses the tab key to step through each input zone.
I've got a form which loads all the files from a selected directory into a list box, a user then enters a string into a textbox and then loops though all items in my listbox, there is a match it adds it to another list box - this is a simple method of search for all documents. I can only seacrh for perfect matching strings right now.
I'm trying to search a generic list of 'User' business objects which has a property called 'Username': If (From u In colUsers Select u.Username Where Username.Equals(strUsername)).Count > 0 ThenI keep getting:Delegate to an instance method cannot have null 'this'.
I am wanting to make a program in VB.NET that has many files.doc in a specific folderThis program has on top a textbox(txtSearch) with a button(btnSearch)under that this has two listbox(lstOption, lstResult), that are floating a left, one richtextbox(rtbDoc) that is floating a right.I want that when the user writes in txtSearch and click on button then the application will read all files, and find for this string.
Here's the situation: I've got a form that has - RichTextBox - OpenButton (to load RTF file) - SaveButton (to save RTF file after editing) - Textbox (for search phrase) - SearchButton - ExitButton - 2 RadioButtons (WholeWord and MatchCase search)
All of them are working just the way I want them to except search features; I don't know how to write them properly. At the moment, they search and highlight only the first word they encounter. E.g. say I search for word "the" in the document, only the first "the" it encounters is highlighted. The rest is just untouched.
I understand this is because I've only got few lines of simple code as follows If rtfText.Find(txtSearch.Text, RichTextBoxFinds.WholeWord) = -1 Then MessageBox.Show("No results returned. Please try again.", "No matching results.", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information) End If
I did try a few other snippets I found on the Internet including While loop but they didn't work as I wanted them to, and I couldn't understand them either. What I want is, which ever search option is used, when the matching result is found; it will highlight that word and when I click it again it will move onto another word. If I keep clicking, it will highlight the same words (but located in different areas) throughout the whole document and at the end, it will send back to the first matching word. Just like Adobe Reader search.
I am using the IndexOf function of the string class to find a specific instance of a string. And based on that I have a logic to do something. Below is the example of what I am doing. The code is in production and is working fine. But for some instance I am getting an "Object reference not set error". Yeah its intermittent. The requestXML is a string of xml data passed in as a paramter to a subroutine. I am fetching the xml string as a form post in a request object. The only thing I could think of getting this kind of error is when the requestXML string varia
requestXml = Request("requestXML") SubmitRequest(requestXml) Private Sub SubmitRequest(ByVal requestXml
I have a program where you have three entries, CD name, artist, price and it goes into a listbox and .txt file when closing. I have to have a message box if you enter the same CD name. I have a code to open the .txt file and compare strings but I need to change it to compare only the CD name and not all three entries. Is there a way to do my string compare against my listbox without opening the .txt file?? The program loads the listbox from the .txt file when opening. Private Sub btnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAdd.Click' adds CD information to the list box
' declare variables Dim strName As String Dim strArtist As String Dim strPrice As String
I have a TextBox for the user to input a search string. My button click code returns thr error 'No value given for one or more Parameters. I have tried various ways to write a SELECT string.
I have written a program that uses an array of the english alphabet and Morse code. I also built a form with a input box for the alphabetic information and an output box with the Morse Code. What i am trying to do is basically type a word like "Hi" in the input box and produce the Morse Code equivalent in the Morse Code output box. [Code] This works but only one letter at a time. Do i need to Parse the string of characters one at a time, and then run it through a loop like i have created?
I'm using the following code to try and search a listview (I got it from msdn):
Dim atem As New ListViewItem = ListView1.FindItemWithText(TextBox2.Text, True, 0, True)
If atem IsNot Nothing Then ListView1.TopItem = atem End If
Then I got the " Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error highlighting the following line: ListView1.TopItem = atem So then I tried this:
Dim atem As New ListViewItem atem = ListView1.FindItemWithText(TextBox2.Text, True, 0, True)
If atem IsNot Nothing Then ListView1.TopItem = atem End If it still isn't working.
I have a non standard text file, ie its not delimted etc, its pretty much free flowing. What I want to do is to search for a specifc string eg. "xyz123" and then replace it with what a user types into a text box, lets call the text box and its contents "txtreplace".
I am trying to replicate a find and replace function essentially, but will need to tailor it later on down the line, but this will be a starting point.
how to set string content as a class instance name?Example. I have an INI-class with many instances like .Path, .Width, etc. Now, i'm reading my ini-file string by string wich hase been written by template:
[code...]
I would like to automate reading an assignment at ONCE. Like cutting the first word in line and setup it as my INI-class instance name.I know how to cut first word, but have no idea, how to set this string as instance name.
Basically I have a datagridview that holds data. All I want to do is have the user type in a string to an inputbox then search the datagridview for what the user typed in.This is what I have so far really I think the only thing I need is the piece after if dgbcollectionitem.(i need what goes here). after that I'll use an else statement for error checking.[code]
057359-001 Pip Drt329 Auburndale, Fl (aub) - Pompano Beach, Fl (pob) 1:0 10gbe Lan Phy. MyArr(0) ends up "057359-001" which is correct. MyArr(1) ends up "Pip" only which is incorrect.
Is it possible using Reflection or some other method to obtain a reference to a specific class instance from the name of that class instance? For example the framework for the applications I develop heavily uses public class instances such as: Public bMyreference as MyReference = new MyReference
Then throughout the application bMyReference is used by custom controls and code. One of the properties of the custom controls is the "FieldName" which references a Property in these class instances (bMyReference.MyField) as a string. What I would like to be able to do is analyze this string "bMyReference.MyField" and then refer back to the actual Instance/Property.
In VB6 I would use an EVAL or something simular to convert the string to an actual object but this obviously doesn't work in VB.net. What I'm picturing is something like this: Dim FieldName as String = MyControl.FieldName ' sets FielName to bMyReference.MyField Dim FieldObject() as String = FieldName.Split(".") ' Split into the Object / Property Dim myInstance as Object = ......... ' Obtain a reference to the Instance and set as myInstance Dim myProperty = myInstance.GetType().GetProperty(FieldObject(1))
Not sure exactly what I need to do to make this work, so my description may be lacking at first.Essentially I am writing a program launcher that recreates itself each time on load. It pulls the data regarding the tabs and buttons from an SQLite database and builds itself dynamically at run time. I get my problem when I pass the tab name through to the function that creates the buttons. I need the name to pull the right set of buttons from the database and I then tried to use the name to place the buttons on the right tab when I create them, but the debugger calls it a null reference because it doesn't point correctly to the tabpage that I'm trying to make it point to (at least that is what I'm guessing). Any ideas on how to make this work right?
