I have a single text file and I need to search the file for any instance of the
string (Product_Type: "Hardware", "xxx", "xxx") the Product_Type is constant and has several instances within the file but the "Hardware" changes. I need to show all the values inside the quotes of the "Hardware" string to a listbox.
I want to get a string from the richtextbox but here how it goes in programming for example i want to get all class/function and variable names in this given code.
Quote:
Private Function Processstring(ByVal strin As String) As String Dim astrWords As String() = New String() {"parrot"} Dim strOut As String = strin Dim strWord As String
[code]....
how would i get the "processstring" by getting it after the word function?
How to search and get position a string in a big file?I have searched in forum2 and get several ways to search for strings in files, but it is not for large files above 500 mb,I have just been make a function to search string and get its index, but it is very slow and uses lots of RAM.This is my function
Function StringInFile(ByRef fs As FileStream, ByRef substring As String, Optional ByVal occurence As Integer = 1,_ Optional ByVal start As Integer = 0, Optional ByVal count As Integer = -1) As Integer
The format I need is a group of numbers in a text file and it looks like this and it will always look like this:xxxx x xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx x xxxxxxxxxxx xxxx x
The problem is that it can be anywhere in a text file so I cannot search by a particular line.
How can I search for this type of string format in a text file?
So I am trying to create a Win App to make copying files using Robocopy easier and eventually other tasks. Basically what I have so far is a Button that calls the Sub Robcopy_EXE. There is a tab on the form with 100 check boxes, one for each terminal, that will be designated by the user and a check box to determine if you want a detailed report or not from Robocopy. I also have a text box for the user to input the first 3 octets of the site IP Address. The check boxes and Input field are used to create string "Terminal_input" which is what runs Robocopy in CMD. Robocopy logs its progress to a text file that I have labeled "Status.txt". That is as far as I have gotten.
I was hoping someone could assist with the following coding; I am trying to search a very large csv file (approx 200,000 lines) for a user defined string eg "0100020789" and I essentially want to print all the lines that contain this to a text box on screen. Please not that the csv file does not have standardised column headings, each line is different. There would be approx 5 lines that contain the input string.
I am concerned with the v large csv i am using which will prob slow everything down, but then I thought if simple text pad application can search for a string in complete files with similar sizes like that and return a result in less than 1second, then it must be do-able.
I want to search for a string entered in a column of a datagridview in a text file.If this string exists in the file then allow the user to enter it otherwise dont allow the user to enter the string. Also, since I am reading data from the database into the datagridview, I have not added columns to the datagridview using edit columns option. How do I do this in vb.net.I tried doing something like this:
I would like to read an HTML file, search each line to see if it starts with </head>. Then add the centering code after it. That line at destination file should read: </head><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2" width="760"align="center"><tr><td> After this I don't care to search for anything. Just read from source and write to destination. I know there are programs out there to find/replace text in series of files but I am not allowed to use external programs.
I'm trying to search a generic list of 'User' business objects which has a property called 'Username': If (From u In colUsers Select u.Username Where Username.Equals(strUsername)).Count > 0 ThenI keep getting:Delegate to an instance method cannot have null 'this'.
I am using the IndexOf function of the string class to find a specific instance of a string. And based on that I have a logic to do something. Below is the example of what I am doing. The code is in production and is working fine. But for some instance I am getting an "Object reference not set error". Yeah its intermittent. The requestXML is a string of xml data passed in as a paramter to a subroutine. I am fetching the xml string as a form post in a request object. The only thing I could think of getting this kind of error is when the requestXML string varia
requestXml = Request("requestXML") SubmitRequest(requestXml) Private Sub SubmitRequest(ByVal requestXml
I'm creating a search function to search through a binary file and find a record based on the users input. Surprisingly, that isn't the problem! The problem I'm having is that as part of this I'm using a procedure to display results in text boxes, and I'm getting the error "Too many arguments to private sub display customer"I've encountered this error before, but never really knew what it was... Here is my code.
Private Sub btnSearch_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSearch.Click FilenameCust = "F:\College\CustomersFile.bin"
I have written a program that uses an array of the english alphabet and Morse code. I also built a form with a input box for the alphabetic information and an output box with the Morse Code. What i am trying to do is basically type a word like "Hi" in the input box and produce the Morse Code equivalent in the Morse Code output box. [Code] This works but only one letter at a time. Do i need to Parse the string of characters one at a time, and then run it through a loop like i have created?
I'm using the following code to try and search a listview (I got it from msdn):
Dim atem As New ListViewItem = ListView1.FindItemWithText(TextBox2.Text, True, 0, True)
If atem IsNot Nothing Then ListView1.TopItem = atem End If
Then I got the " Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error highlighting the following line: ListView1.TopItem = atem So then I tried this:
Dim atem As New ListViewItem atem = ListView1.FindItemWithText(TextBox2.Text, True, 0, True)
If atem IsNot Nothing Then ListView1.TopItem = atem End If it still isn't working.
I have a non standard text file, ie its not delimted etc, its pretty much free flowing. What I want to do is to search for a specifc string eg. "xyz123" and then replace it with what a user types into a text box, lets call the text box and its contents "txtreplace".
I am trying to replicate a find and replace function essentially, but will need to tailor it later on down the line, but this will be a starting point.
how to set string content as a class instance name?Example. I have an INI-class with many instances like .Path, .Width, etc. Now, i'm reading my ini-file string by string wich hase been written by template:
[code...]
I would like to automate reading an assignment at ONCE. Like cutting the first word in line and setup it as my INI-class instance name.I know how to cut first word, but have no idea, how to set this string as instance name.
Basically I have a datagridview that holds data. All I want to do is have the user type in a string to an inputbox then search the datagridview for what the user typed in.This is what I have so far really I think the only thing I need is the piece after if dgbcollectionitem.(i need what goes here). after that I'll use an else statement for error checking.[code]
057359-001 Pip Drt329 Auburndale, Fl (aub) - Pompano Beach, Fl (pob) 1:0 10gbe Lan Phy. MyArr(0) ends up "057359-001" which is correct. MyArr(1) ends up "Pip" only which is incorrect.
Is it possible using Reflection or some other method to obtain a reference to a specific class instance from the name of that class instance? For example the framework for the applications I develop heavily uses public class instances such as: Public bMyreference as MyReference = new MyReference
Then throughout the application bMyReference is used by custom controls and code. One of the properties of the custom controls is the "FieldName" which references a Property in these class instances (bMyReference.MyField) as a string. What I would like to be able to do is analyze this string "bMyReference.MyField" and then refer back to the actual Instance/Property.
In VB6 I would use an EVAL or something simular to convert the string to an actual object but this obviously doesn't work in VB.net. What I'm picturing is something like this: Dim FieldName as String = MyControl.FieldName ' sets FielName to bMyReference.MyField Dim FieldObject() as String = FieldName.Split(".") ' Split into the Object / Property Dim myInstance as Object = ......... ' Obtain a reference to the Instance and set as myInstance Dim myProperty = myInstance.GetType().GetProperty(FieldObject(1))
Not sure exactly what I need to do to make this work, so my description may be lacking at first.Essentially I am writing a program launcher that recreates itself each time on load. It pulls the data regarding the tabs and buttons from an SQLite database and builds itself dynamically at run time. I get my problem when I pass the tab name through to the function that creates the buttons. I need the name to pull the right set of buttons from the database and I then tried to use the name to place the buttons on the right tab when I create them, but the debugger calls it a null reference because it doesn't point correctly to the tabpage that I'm trying to make it point to (at least that is what I'm guessing). Any ideas on how to make this work right?
I have this class Framework.Asd.Human with a public empty constructor. and i want to be able to dynamically create an instance of it from a string input "Framework.Asd.Human". Is this achievable? (in java and C#)
I want to retrieve an object by using a string representation of the objects name. For example lets say i want to change the font of 3 labels on a form programatically. Instead of changing the font property for each individual label like so:
I'm looking for a way to search a string variable for two words and copy the text in between them into another variable. This needs to be done as many times as the match occurs.
I am trying to perform an action if the index of a string contains a certain value, but it's just not working quite right and I could use a hint if anyone has done this before. The application pulls in a .txt file and manipulates it to create 3 other different type of files. It is currently set to pull the information from line 3, but the output program that supplies the file will probably change to line 2 or 3. I need to either search the whole string or the index of line 2 and 3 and then do the following manipulations. It will not return the value of line 2. This is what I have tried, but is not working. The code commented out at the bottom is what is currently there.
The .txt file shows the following values so far: 1 PAGE 1 PIPELINE REF RA10-FX-604-01-
Need to take a string in vb and split it. Also need to look through the two returned values and return the value which contains [URL]. Pipelines are the delimiter.
txtEmailFrom.Text = "john@huno.com|james@domain1.com" Dim brokened() As String brokened = Split(txtEmailFrom.Text, "|")
