May 17, 2010How do you change the column type in a datagridview programmatically? I have several tables that I want to allow the user to update using the same form. Depending on the table, I need to change the column type to a checkbox instead of text. Following is the code that I run (just exchanging the table name and column #). Everything works well as long as I don't try to change the column type.

Aug 13, 2009I have done VBscripting the past and I have actually made this work in a script however I am trying to convert it to VB for the client so that it has a nicer interface and basically is a better program. There are several parts to this program but I am stuck on this part right now. I am attempting to get a list of all servers from Active Directory and then sort them by type. The program will run however it will not produce any results. Its just an empty file. I figured the problem was with my filtering but I just don't understand why this will not work. I have written it in two different ways and get the same result each time.

Feb 8, 2010I am trying to change the datagrid cellstyle alignment of a column in the designer. I set it to middle right but then I run it and it still aligned to the left. I have a lot of datagrids in my application but there are few that doesn't accept any alignment settings which I don't understand at all, can't see any reason, I been looking through the options if there is anything but can't find anything. I just need one column of cells to be aligned to the right whatever I do all of the columns are aligned left and there is an option in the defaultcellstyle that is sat to middle left, but when I try to change it to Not Set it doesn't change.

Nov 30, 2010This is my programs complete code, the only problem is i want to fix the amount of decimal places that show up in my gridview. The problem is if i do this on the asp side the location of the column gets thrown off and the column is duplicated. I figured if i just remade the table on the asp side it would work only problem is if i remove the sql for that particular column the asp side column cannot get data.

When the command tries to ExecuteNonQuery it throws an error:Operand type clash: datetime2 is incompatible with int. The data for table-valued parameter "@tvpPermitWork" doesn't conform to the table type of the parameter.I checked the data table using the visualizer and I find all the data to be correct. I am now stuck and I don't have the time to change it to stored procedures with individual parameters.

Feb 20, 2012I'm getting familiar now with using the Dataset Designer and how it makes for quick and easy updates and query of tables. I use to use the OleDB commands and leave the Connection String as a Global Constant so I can easily change it if the server name changes, or if we have to re-direct the .NET to another instance of the database.
But now that I use the Dataset designer I'm concerned that I maintain flexibility and support in the long run. how the Dataset designer works and where it stores it's connection string info? And how difficult that would be to update. It looks like I modify the App.config file, but I'm unfamiliar with this.
What am I getting myself into? It looks like a standard XML file. Is that it?

So say there is a value of 50 in the textbox and the user just deletes this and it is now "". When I try to update the database I receive an error as it expects a type of double. However, simple appending a 0 here when a value of "" is encountered will not work for me as I have a universal function to handle all of my updating needs.
