I have wrote a program that uses sendmessage to automate clicks. I have also made it where it can minimize to tray, hides form & shows an icon in tray. The problem is that when it's minimized it takes focus from whatever else I'm doing, like if I'm typing in Notepad when the program sends the message it takes the focus from notepad.
to be so simple turns out to have me scratching my head.I have a program that monitors input inside of Quickbooks. When a customer is entered into a sales order my program checks my database for any special information and if it exists, opens a TopMost window to the lower third of the screen with the information showing that is special to that customer. The problem I have is that when the customer is found and the window opens, focus is taken away from Quickbooks and given to my newly opened form. Is there a way to prevent this so that the users input isn't interrupted?
With frmMessage .Width = Screen.PrimaryScreen.WorkingArea.Width .TopMost = True
So i have a Panel which on Mouse Enter and Mouse Leave i change the visibility of some controls which are docked inside it. Problem is whenever I hover over a control within the panel the Mouse Enter then moves to that indivual control and thus they are made invisible. Is there any way i can make this work without having to code these two events for each control within the panel?
I am using SendMessageTimeout to send messages (IPC) to talk between applications ... works fine in vb... but i am trying to build a vb.net implementation to talk between existing vb6 apps and .net ones...
So far i can successfully send data from vb.net to vb6 using:
vb Dim b = System.Text.UnicodeEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(Command) Dim Data As New COPYDATASTRUCT Data.dwData = New IntPtr Data.cdData = UBound(b) + 1
Can anyone give me a SendMessage/PostMessage Example? I want to make SendMessage/PostMessage work like SendKeys, except instead of sending keys to the app in focus, it will send keys to a certain app. I've looked at a lot of examples that use notepad, but they all need to use "find" the "EDIT" thing. I dont want that. Is there any other way?
Can someone give me an example of how to use SendMessage to send text?
I found some code on Google but I cant get it to work
Private Declare Function apiSendMessage Lib "user32" Alias "SendMessageA" (ByVal hWnd As Int32, ByVal wMsg As Int32, ByVal wParam As Int32, ByVal lParam As String) As Boolean Declare Auto Function SendMessage Lib "user32.dll" (ByVal hWnd As IntPtr, ByVal msg As Integer, ByVal
Let's say I have 2 applications, app1 and app2. If app1 were to use SendMessage to set the text of a control in app2, is it possible for app2 to get the HWND of app1?
I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
And few other things, I am always getting this exception: Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.
Is there a way to use ReadAllLines to read in a text file that contains some Chr(10) (linefeeds) but uses ONLY the Chr(13) (carriage return) as the true end-of-line?What I mean is, DON'T treat a Chr(10) as the EOL. ONLY treat a Chr(13) as the EOL.Obviously I could just read in the whole file as binary and then split it into lines by scanning for Chr(13), but I just wondered whether or not there's a setting in VB.NET to set the EOL character so I didn't have to do that.
I am trying to simulate human temperature taking. Basic i just need a button, a text box , a progress bar and a timer. What I want to do is that when the button is clicked, the progress bar will slowly increment and after it reaches maximum, a random number in the range 35-40 will be generated in the text box.Now so far, this is what I`ve done:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Timer1.Start() Dim r As New Random
[code]....
So the progress bar is working fine. The random number generator too. But here are my problems:
1-Once the button is click, the number is generated. I would like that to happen after the progress bar reaches maximum.
2-So this is suppose to be a temperature gadget for kids and therefore when a certain amount of temperature is reached...an alarm is sent to the parents. How do I generate a dialog box (to acknowledge an alarm was sent) in case the temperature exceeds say 38? The dialog box should close after some 5 seconds. If possible, in case of such excess, the button color should turn to red or otherwise(no excess) blue.
Any way to prevent my application from taking screen shot. I am using this method If Clipboard.ContainsImage = True Then Clipboard.Clear() If this is correct? And also what about screen capture application they take the screen shot without using clipboard what is logic behind it and if there is any way to resolve it?
I am working on a program where the user inputs values, then the program calculates those values and outputs the sum. When the user hits the button exit then those values entered by the user are saved. When the user starts the program again, the values are still there. I wrote the code and everything works fine. I am saving those values in notepad... and the program grabs the input in notepad and outputs those values to the program. But here comes the problem: Lets say the user wants the information in a certain column to be added to another column somewhere in the program. Is that possible ? And if it is can it be done when I am saving those values in notepad?
I got a table related to another table by orderref. I need to know what should be my SQL adapter command if I need to take some information from one table and some from another where orderref = "" or should I be making two separate SQLs?
I used to have this when I had only one table: myStr = "select * from orders where Orderref='" + txtorderref.Text + "'" Dim sqldaHistory As New SqlDataAdapter(myStr, nwindconn) sqldaHistory.Fill(myDataset, "orders")
I'm trying to take a result for a simple website conversion calculator and turn that into a percentage. So for example, if the result is 0.314500 I want to turn that into 31.4%.Here is the code I have so far for this:
Visual Basic 2008
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim d As Decimal d = (TextBox2.Text.ToString / TextBox1.Text.ToString) Me.TextBox3.Text = Decimal.Round(d, 4).ToString("f6") End Sub
Is there anyway I can do a a custom screen shot? like the height and width of it? This is what I want to do Left = 18 top = 556 right = 914 bottom = 289 So a regular screenshot on my pc is 1152 by 864. So how would I say do a 300 by 400 screenshot?
Is there a more efficient/easier way changing the backcolor of a control when it has focus and lost focus? Let's say I've got 10 text boxes. Right now I would have 20 different events...10 for Enter event and 10 for Leave event. Of course, entering would change the back color to "green" and leaving would change it back to "white".
Here is what I've done:1) Created an Excel COM add-in for Excel 20032) Added a NotifyIcon to the Windows taskbar notification area (aka system tray) during ThisAddIn_Startup3) Added a ContextMenuStrip with a ToolStripButton to the NotifyIconWhy is it when I right click on the NotifyIcon, Excel gains focus? If after clicking on the NotifyIcon to display the ContextMenuStrip I choose not select an option on the ContextMenuStrip and instead click back on the Excel window, I get a weird flashing cell in Excel.I've created a video of the problem to help you see what I [url] anyone know how to prevent this? Ideally, I'd like to be able to click back on Excel and only have the ContextMenuStrip close and Excel regain focus.
I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.
I have a textbox on a form that when it loses focus it updates other text boxes on the form. But before it updates the other textboxes I check the input value in the textbox lostfocus event if it is undesired I return focus to the the textbox and alert the the user with a msgbox. However where my problem is, is that when the cancel button is clicked I don't care what the input in the textbox is because the changes are being canceled but if the value is undesired the it keeps returning focus to the textbox instead of canceling the changes. Is there a way to see what control was clicked on before or in the lost focus event? Can't seem to figure it out tried enter and leave events but no luck!
So for example something like this...
Code: Private Sub TextBox1_LostFocus(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.LostFocus If Control that was clicked <> btnCancel then
I'm trying to send some words to an application I'm running (exe file, no webpage). To do this I run my vb program and minimize it, so that the application I want to send the words to have focus. Now I've tried sendkeys, but it seems sendkeys only sends my first word and does nothing with the other words. The code below is called 4 times by the main form
If i > 3 Then i = 0 i = i + 1 If i = 1 Then verhaal ="some text 1"[code]....
but this throws in a overflowexception was unhandled error at the apiSendMessage(hWnd, WM_SETTEXT, 0, "Hello") line.I've tried several things but I can't figure it out how to send multiple words to the application without problems .
I want to show a message box to as the user if he/she wants to save changes. The problem is that the message box shows up behind my current form, and the current form does not have focus and is disabled. I have to switch a another program/window then when I switch back to my application, it finally shows the message box. Same thing happens when I compile and run it compiled. I also tried "MsgBox" with the same problem.
This is the code i'm using: vb.net Private Sub frmMain_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing Dim ret As DialogResult = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.No [Code] ..... I am doing this on a Windows XP (SP3)
I'll try and describe this correctly. a simple datarepeater (databound, winform) with a button on it, clicking the button on the datarepeater opens another form with an uploading routine, you select the file from your hardrive, and you can send the file to it's destination on a server. the problem is when the button is clicked, the previous datarepeater template or instance still has the focus and the file gets uploaded to the wrong place, how can i, when the button is clicked, give focus to the datarepeater template that the button is on. if i click on the template, and then click the button, then the proper focus is true.
