Taking In-game Screenshots - Take A Screenshot - Either Comes Out Completely Black ?

May 1, 2012

I'm working on a program which will allow users to take screenshots of full screen games, such as Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, etc. However, I'm having two issues with my code. First off, I'm having to press the shortcut twice, instead of once like my other shortcuts. This only occurs when the code below is actually in the handling sub. If I just have a messagebox show when the shortcut is pressed, it works every time. Second, whenever I take a screenshot, it either comes out completely black, or takes a shot of my desktop, even though there is a game running in the foreground. I have looked around, and it seems that printscreen is the only way to get a screenshot of a game through vb.net.

My code is below.

Private Sub game_Press(ByVal s As Object, ByVal e As Shortcut.HotKeyEventArgs) Handles gamewindow.press
Dim gamewin As RECT
If GetWindowRect(GetForegroundWindow, gamewin) Then
Dim bmp As Bitmap

screenshot application I am developing that has a memory leak somewhere. The main code is as follows:

Public
Class Form1
Dim strPath As String = "C:windows empscreenshot.jpg"
Private Sub Main()

[code].....

The application runs from the system tray and a clickevent handler for the notifyicon control calls the Main() sub. The code calls OutlookEmail() which creates a new outlook mail object. The problem is that each time the notifyicon in the system tray is clicked the memory in use jumps up incrementally - about 3mb each time.

VS 2008 ReadAllLines Taking ONLY Chr(13) As EOL?

Sep 11, 2010

Is there a way to use ReadAllLines to read in a text file that contains some Chr(10) (linefeeds) but uses ONLY the Chr(13) (carriage return) as the true end-of-line?What I mean is, DON'T treat a Chr(10) as the EOL. ONLY treat a Chr(13) as the EOL.Obviously I could just read in the whole file as binary and then split it into lines by scanning for Chr(13), but I just wondered whether or not there's a setting in VB.NET to set the EOL character so I didn't have to do that.

Prevent A Keypress In Another Application?

Mar 17, 2011

We have 2 apps that we display at once for data entry. 1 taking up the left side of the screen, and 1 taking up the right side.

1 of those apps is the data entry application. The other app is for viewing scanned info. But they can't talk to each other directly.

So I'm creating a tool that runs in the background to intercept certain keys.

I want to be able to capture keys such of Ctrl + Home, Ctrl + Page Up, etc from the data entry application, and send it to the scanned image to rotate it or zoom, etc.

I believe I can do most of it, except 1 part.

Right now if I did Ctrl + PageUp, it will send the key press to both apps. How do I prevent a keypress from the originating application?

VS 2008 Simulate Temperature Taking On .net 2008?

Feb 26, 2010

I am trying to simulate human temperature taking. Basic i just need a button, a text box , a progress bar and a timer.What I want to do is that when the button is clicked, the progress bar will slowly increment and after it reaches maximum, a random number in the range 35-40 will be generated in the text box.Now so far, this is what I`ve done:

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Timer1.Start()
Dim r As New Random

[code]....

So the progress bar is working fine. The random number generator too. But here are my problems:

1-Once the button is click, the number is generated. I would like that to happen after the progress bar reaches maximum.

2-So this is suppose to be a temperature gadget for kids and therefore when a certain amount of temperature is reached...an alarm is sent to the parents. How do I generate a dialog box (to acknowledge an alarm was sent) in case the temperature exceeds say 38? The dialog box should close after some 5 seconds. If possible, in case of such excess, the button color should turn to red or otherwise(no excess) blue.

VS 2008 - Taking Column And Adding Input Elsewhere

Nov 15, 2009

I am working on a program where the user inputs values, then the program calculates those values and outputs the sum. When the user hits the button exit then those values entered by the user are saved. When the user starts the program again, the values are still there. I wrote the code and everything works fine. I am saving those values in notepad... and the program grabs the input in notepad and outputs those values to the program. But here comes the problem: Lets say the user wants the information in a certain column to be added to another column somewhere in the program. Is that possible ? And if it is can it be done when I am saving those values in notepad?
