Is there a way to use ReadAllLines to read in a text file that contains some Chr(10) (linefeeds) but uses ONLY the Chr(13) (carriage return) as the true end-of-line?What I mean is, DON'T treat a Chr(10) as the EOL. ONLY treat a Chr(13) as the EOL.Obviously I could just read in the whole file as binary and then split it into lines by scanning for Chr(13), but I just wondered whether or not there's a setting in VB.NET to set the EOL character so I didn't have to do that.
Im trying to use File.ReadAllLines to read a DLL that has plain text. (the DLL is basically a text file)
Dim NewFile As New StreamWriter(Application.StartupPath & "NewFile.DLL") File.ReadAllLines(Application.StartupPath & "NewFile.DLL") I get 1 error, and I have a few questions
Im trying to use File.ReadAllLines to read a DLL that has plain text. (the DLL is basically a text file) [code] The process cannot access the file '****DebugNewFile.DLL' because it is being used by another process. How do I use readalllines to find text? How do I use readalllines to only search a part of the text file?
I have wrote a program that uses sendmessage to automate clicks. I have also made it where it can minimize to tray, hides form & shows an icon in tray. The problem is that when it's minimized it takes focus from whatever else I'm doing, like if I'm typing in Notepad when the program sends the message it takes the focus from notepad.
I am trying to simulate human temperature taking. Basic i just need a button, a text box , a progress bar and a timer. What I want to do is that when the button is clicked, the progress bar will slowly increment and after it reaches maximum, a random number in the range 35-40 will be generated in the text box.Now so far, this is what I`ve done:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Timer1.Start() Dim r As New Random
[code]....
So the progress bar is working fine. The random number generator too. But here are my problems:
1-Once the button is click, the number is generated. I would like that to happen after the progress bar reaches maximum.
2-So this is suppose to be a temperature gadget for kids and therefore when a certain amount of temperature is reached...an alarm is sent to the parents. How do I generate a dialog box (to acknowledge an alarm was sent) in case the temperature exceeds say 38? The dialog box should close after some 5 seconds. If possible, in case of such excess, the button color should turn to red or otherwise(no excess) blue.
Any way to prevent my application from taking screen shot. I am using this method If Clipboard.ContainsImage = True Then Clipboard.Clear() If this is correct? And also what about screen capture application they take the screen shot without using clipboard what is logic behind it and if there is any way to resolve it?
I am working on a program where the user inputs values, then the program calculates those values and outputs the sum. When the user hits the button exit then those values entered by the user are saved. When the user starts the program again, the values are still there. I wrote the code and everything works fine. I am saving those values in notepad... and the program grabs the input in notepad and outputs those values to the program. But here comes the problem: Lets say the user wants the information in a certain column to be added to another column somewhere in the program. Is that possible ? And if it is can it be done when I am saving those values in notepad?
I got a table related to another table by orderref. I need to know what should be my SQL adapter command if I need to take some information from one table and some from another where orderref = "" or should I be making two separate SQLs?
I used to have this when I had only one table: myStr = "select * from orders where Orderref='" + txtorderref.Text + "'" Dim sqldaHistory As New SqlDataAdapter(myStr, nwindconn) sqldaHistory.Fill(myDataset, "orders")
I'm trying to take a result for a simple website conversion calculator and turn that into a percentage. So for example, if the result is 0.314500 I want to turn that into 31.4%.Here is the code I have so far for this:
Visual Basic 2008
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim d As Decimal d = (TextBox2.Text.ToString / TextBox1.Text.ToString) Me.TextBox3.Text = Decimal.Round(d, 4).ToString("f6") End Sub
Is there anyway I can do a a custom screen shot? like the height and width of it? This is what I want to do Left = 18 top = 556 right = 914 bottom = 289 So a regular screenshot on my pc is 1152 by 864. So how would I say do a 300 by 400 screenshot?
I'm using IO.File.ReadAllLines(FileName) to read all lines from text file to array of strings at once. Problem is, text lines include ANSI characters above ASCII value 127 (Scandinavian letters e.g. " (Ascii 196), (Ascii 246) and (Ascii 233). Array is build up nicely, but all chars above ascii value 127 are not shown right. How can I use ANSI character set with .ReadAllLines to correct this problem? In VB6 with "Open Filename For Input As #1 / Line Input #1, txtLine" there wasn't any problem. OBS: This is already solved, found the answer by myself:
Dim myEncoding As Encoding = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(1252) ' Windows-1252 Dim strLibrary As String() = IO.File.ReadAllLines(FileName, myEncoding) Problem was to find right character set, which was Windows-1251 (ISO-8859-1)
In this readalllines part because my data is saved differently now it used to be like this
CODE:
But now i saved it in a single and more understandable line like this
CODE:
And i have afew ideas like using the split function and stuff to read the months but can i use the "|" and "," in the line at the same time? the first 3 section of the line is for user to know the year, month and day of the starting date of the chinese lunar year. and the following 1,30 is the first month with 30days.
I'm using IO.File.ReadAllLines(FileName) to read all lines from text file to array of strings at once. Problem is, text lines include ANSI characters above ASCII value 127 (Scandinavian letters e.g. "Ä" (Ascii 196), "ö" (Ascii 246) and "é" (Ascii 233). Array is build up nicely, but all chars above ascii value 127 are not shown right. How can I use ANSI character set with .ReadAllLines to correct this problem? In VB6 with "Open Filename For Input As #1 / Line Input #1, txtLine" there wasn't any problem.
I have a text file (CSV) approx 100k lines (8Mb). I want to search the entire file for a particular string eg, "apple" and for all lines containing the string to be printed in a text box. have successfully done this using streamReader to parse the CSV and check each element against the search word eg. apple. This has proven to be very very slow and I have read that the "ReadAllLines" method is much faster.
Returns whole lines, the odd occasion a word. any thing obvious wrong?
Private _word As String() Private _i As New Random Private Sub btnGetNewhangManWord_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _
I need to read and process a text file. My processing would be easier if I could use the File.ReadAllLines method but I'm not sure what is the maximum size of the file that could be read with this method without reading by chunks. I understand that the file size depends on the computer memory. But are still there any recommendations for an average machine?
I'm using visual studio 2008 and creating a Windows For Application.
I'm almost completed my little application and what I've discovered just recently is that any change I made is not taking affect.
What I mean is if I change the display name of a button or insert a msgbox popup, it doesnt make it to the build when I run it. There are no errorswarnings.
The problem I'm facing is that PrintForm has a shoddy quality while getting the printouts and PrintDocument takes way too long to get on receipt printed (Almost 5-10 Seconds!)I'm either looking for an alternative for PrintDocument or somehow make the PrintDocument run faster
im trying to get a name entry from an input box to show up in two separate places on my project, ie first and last name, but i either get nothing or the same text for both labels.[code]
I am writing an app to take ID pictures using a webcam, I need a PictureBox to display a live image of the person sitting infront of the webcam in which I then need a captured picture to desplay as soon as a Button is clicked.
I don't even know where to start.
1. How do I get the PictureBox to comunicate with the webcam?
2. I also will need to crop and resize the picture and then print it, but this we can diskus later.
I have created an xml file and i would like to now extract data from it.
Is there a function within vb.net that reads xml and takes out all the attributes with a certain name? For example to withdraw all the authors names from an xml file about books?
But like always I have a question. I need to take the data that I have stored in arrays and use it. But how do I do that? What I need is to take numbers stored in the arrays and add and subtract them and put them in the appropriate array , like this:
I have this fingerprint scanner I'm working with. The fingerprints taken are index/stored in our imaging system and the fingerprints are put on certain documents and printed. When I scan the image in and then load it into a bitmap object, the width and height are (w:480,h:640).Now if I open this file in any image viewer and print it from there the finger print is as big as a fingerprint should be.Now when working with it in code, it's huge. I have found some resize code online, but the resulting image is horrible. Is there anyway to resize an image while taking in account the dpi and such so the image is highest quality (same as print out?).
I'm watching tutorials about creating Web Site and about controls.I think I added SQL Database to the project (it's not empty) properly. Suppose it has two columns: FirstName, LastName.I have TextBox1, TextBox2 and Button1 on the web site form.I enter any integer number (5, 10, 15 or whatever) into TextBox1. I want to press Button1 and get a value of 5th person (10th, 15th or whatever) from SQL Database into TextBox2.Who can help me with that? Should I read about ADO.NET and use something from there?Later I want to use VB for work with that strings.
I am trying to simulate human temperature taking. Basic I just need a button, a textbox , a progress bar and a timer. What I want to do is that when the button is clicked, the progress bar will slowly increment and after it reaches maximum, a random number in the range 35-40 will be generated in the text box.
Now so far, this is what I've done: Public Class Health Private Sub Health_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Timer1.Start() [Code] .....
So this is suppose to be a temperature gadget for kids and therefore when a certain amount of temperature is reached...an alarm is sent to the parents. So the progress bar is working fine. The random number generator too. A "sent" dialog box is open if the temperature is >38. 1-The number is working. But I would like the number to b e generated AFTER the progress bar reaches maximum. 2-The sent dialog box is open basically the moment I click on the button to start the progress bar (if the num generated is>38). And it keeps up looping and opening.
