For l = 1 To 3000

I made two applications the first one calls the other. But the other application takes time to load. Even on a fast Pc. So i was thinking of adding a loading form to it. For example when the other application is done loading the loading form goes away.

I have this fingerprint scanner I'm working with. The fingerprints taken are index/stored in our imaging system and the fingerprints are put on certain documents and printed.When I scan the image in and then load it into a bitmap object, the width and height are (w:480,h:640).Now if I open this file in any image viewer and print it from there the finger print is as big as a fingerprint should be.Now when working with it in code, it's huge. I have found some resize code online, but the resulting image is horrible.Is there anyway to resize an image while taking in account the dpi and such so the image is highest quality (same as print out?).

I am on one asignment of convering C# to VB.net and stuck up with this problem.C# application has one class having inline two dimensional array initialized with size 168X168. I converted same class to Vb.net. Now whenever I create instance of my this VB.net class, It take almost 3 minute.
To figure out problem, I put break point on sub new() (first line of my constructor), and behaviour is realy strange because it takes 3 minutes to reach at first point of my constructor.Whenever I comment out my large size array initialization code, It works perfect. Now please note that same code is working fine in C#. It is not taking even few millisecond to initialize that class.

I am writing an application for managing mp3 files. I use AXWindowsMediaPlayer1 for playing files and UltraID3 for reading and writing ID3 tags. Every time the user selects to switch to next song, the ID3 tags of the current file need to be updated. My problem is with Media Player taking a long time to release a file for access after doing a "close". Currently I need to add a 6 seconds delay between the "Close" method of the media player and the ID3 tag "Write", otherwise I get the error saying that the file is currently in use. Anything less than 6 seconds does not work...
I attached a short version of my application which focuses on the issue.

I'm writing a program to search files.The result is saved in a text file.Everything it's working fine, but when I say to look for files/folders in C:* the process takes long time and in task manager it's displayed as "Not Responding", this is not true because I see that CPU and RAM are working with this process.I've disabled in DEBUG OPTIONS the line "ContextSwitchDeadlock" just to prevent the error message "this operation require long time ... bla bla bla".Is there any way to display a progress bar or something like that that shows the program is running and it isn't "hang"?Here's my code (in red the line where the program hangs):
Code:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim cartella, scelta, cosa As String
[code]....
I think that it's like when you type in the command prompt "tree" it doesn't hang... I know... it's not the same thing but...I'm using Visual Basic 2008 Express?

I am "weeks new" to visual basic 2008 but I was hoping that someone might tell me how I can open an image in whatever type of "visible" graphics window (always positioned at: x=0 y=0); move to some "definable position" of interest x=(n) y=(n); change the brightness of that "individual pixel" by some "definable means of measure" from its original state; and save the new image as a separate image file?

I would like to be able to time a page load time in ASP.net (VBscript). Adding Trace="true" to the page directive is nice, but I need to actually time an event and store it in a variable.In ASP it was easy with the Timer object, but in .net I can't find anything on Google.

I have a Picturebox and a two Buttons on my Form. On click of one of the buttons I want to change the image in the picture box at runtime.
This works fine when I give the location of the image (the full path ) on my computer - but then of course it will not work if I use the solution on a different computer .
So I have made a folder named "Pics" inside my application and added two images into it.
How do I get to this local folder in the following code?
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile (??? )
instead of the usual,
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile ("C:UsersMyName My PicturesMyPicture.jpg" )

My c++ app (which has both managed and unmanaged dlls) loads very slow ( > 70 sec) during first time startup. After that it takes 20 sec only during startup. Why? How to make it faster always?
I tried with /Delayloading, rebase etc. It did not give much improvement. In fact after rebase it took more time. note that my app has more than 150 dlls

I'd like to write a simple application in VB.Net using VB.Net Express 2008 (uses .Net 3.5), but it's a bit slow to start on my average computer.
1. When starting a .Net application while no other was loaded before using the same version of the framework, I guess Windows must load the whole framework from disk into RAM. Using eg. Process Explorer, how can I check if the framework is already up and running?
2. Is there a way to speed things up? Is there a way to load the framework at boot time? Pre-compile the application to avoid JIT compiling (provided it makes a difference for a small application)? Other tricks to know?
3. Out of curiosity, is Mono smaller/faster than MS.Net? I don't need more than the basic, run-of-the-mill controls.

The code below is a very simplified version of what I'm trying to write in VB2010.BuildPictureBoxes() builds a column of 40 PictureBoxes at the left of Form1,while LoadPictureBoxes() fills the boxes with a set of green bars.if there are no other controls on Form1, the code does what I expect (builds and fills boxes). On the other hand, if I add, say, a TextBox at design time, then it throws an exception:[code]I understand what the exception means, but not the reason for it. Apparently, the way that I've set up the For loop in LoadPictures doesn't differentiate between a TextBox and a PictureBox. I don't understand why, nor do I understand how to code the loop.I've searched forums and tried any number of ways to write the loop, but nothing that I've tried is free of errors. Clearly, I'm overlooking something simple. I'm not asking for code, because I don't learn anything that way. [code]
