I was wondering if anyone knows of any way of statically linking all dependant DLL's to the vb.net program? I know there are ways to find the dependencies using dependency walker and other tools like that. But was curious since c++ supports the static ability to load DLL's. If not, what tools can i use to quickly package the required DLL's without having to install .net on all my systems?

View 1 RepliesI used the query designer to create a qry from a datagrid view in vb2010 express, the idea was to work out which diver logged the most minutes in the water. here is a copy of the sql syntax:

I was observing my programs process in the task manager and noticed each action made to the program made the memory continue to rise. So I added a Garbage Collector and since it's my first time using it im not sure if I implemented it right. I haven't gotten any errors but I ran some tests I would like to go over with everyone. After adding the GC I was able to notice a change in the memory my program used- it was reduced.I added the GC to the main forms formClosed event of my application which is used in different scenarios. I also added it to the panels paint events before I tested the program. And noticed a quicker reduction in memory. The Form i mainly use called frmLine1t5. This form calls to the database based on which line to test. Then the form sets the controls that were added in design view to be enabled or disabled based upon the product for that line. This process was easy to implement.I Load each new frmLine1t5 to a collection of the form so people can run multiple tests using the same form. This helped so i didn't have multiple forms for the same type of process. I had to access the forms through a collection so I knew which controls to populate to the correct instance.
I noticed during my testing that I can not add more than 50 items to this collection. The problem is that I remove the key from the collection upon form closing, so I dont know why it has gotten to 50.The test I made Runs two timers. Timer 1 is set to tick every 4.5 seconds This timer loads a new form and tests a new line of product.Timer 2 ticks every 5 seconds and closes the previously opened form.I have it get the GC Total Memory upon loading the form of frmLine1t5 and upon closing the form of frmLine1t5.the results are shown in the picturesThe errors i have gotten occured when ChildForms Open: had reached 50Here are the errors:

Possible Causes:I think that upon Form Closing it is taking longer to finish closing before a new form is loaded... But isn't vb.net suppose to finish any unfinished threads? Even if the program is single threaded?And because the form closing isn't "happening" then the key is not removed from the collection.
I'm looking for a library that will disassemble x86 code into some sort of object model that I can then use to write routines that analyze the code. I'm not interested in a library that converts x86 code to text disassembly--I've found more than a few of those, but they're not that useful since I want to do some work on top of the code that I disassemble. View 2 RepliesI have a .net application running on a symbol mc75 (motorola) using the scanner. I am now trying to add functionality for the camera and I am running into issues.
To find the 'devices' you are supposed to use the library's 'available devices' function.
With the barcode it is symbol.barcode.devices.availabledevices and it returns two items (you can scan from the scanner or using the camera device) However, when I do the camera library it does not find any devices - symbol.imaging.devices.availabledevices returns 0
I can take a picture using the software on the mc75, so I know the functionality is there, I just can't figure out how to get to it programmatically..

After successfully running an executable file several days ago, I am suddenly encountering a number of inexplicable errors. One concerns the lack of recognition of two libraries:
microsoft.office.core
microsoft.office.interop.excel
How could they previously be found but not now?I am using another workstation but loaded (so I thought) the same application and references.
I'm looking to create a bunch of re-usable classes. I understand the strength of creating a DLL that is reusable, but I would rather keep them un-compilled. When adding an existing .vb file, visual studio makes a copy of that object instead of a simply reference.Is there any way to do this or creating a class library with .DLL the only way?

I'm upgrading a VB6 project that uses the DriveListBox and DirListBox controls to select one or more folders. They're not available in VB 2008 except via the Compatibility DLL, so I'm thinking about using the Windows 7 Libraries concept instead. But I don't see support for libraries anywhere; does it exist in VB2008, or will it be in VB 2010?
View 1 Repliesi created a Class library (.dll) and loaded it as reference into a main project. In the code for the class i've handled exceptions using try..catch subs, however when debugging the main project exceptions that are handled in the DLL still get thrown! (the class ".vb" file gets loaded into the debugger and the line of the exception shows up)
Up till now i've found it useful that when an unhandled error occurs in the imported reference, it shows up in the main project with tracing back to the referenced class. But i dont want the exceptions that are handled in the reference class to be thrown when debugging the main project!
As you can see the exception thrown was handled with try...catch this class exception.vb belongs to the project that created the class library (.DLL that i referenced). i didnt even load the project that built the reference so it amazes me that it could find the coding class to begin with.
I have made a VB.NET program on my laptop. It works just fine on the laptop. But when I install it on another computer it wont open (when I click on program it wont open form). I think I had this problem once before, but cant remember what I did to make it work. Its Win XP on the machine that wont open program and Win Vista on the one that it works on.

When I run this code I can detect that the temp PictureBox does get created. However, it is not rendered onto the form. It seems like it's there but is invisible.

I don't use a dgv, but rather I connect directly to access and when a text field has text in it, it takes that text and searches, and updates various text boxes with the according information (finds a row, and takes all the data in the columns and adds it into their respective box). There are approximately 5-7 text boxes being used at the same time, and only a few will be changed.
How would I go about updating and saving through the VB program?
