So, I'm trying to make a RichTextBox which makes seperate words colored as you type them (like in Visual Studio itself ).The problem is, it's absolutely not working as I want and absolutely not the same as in Visual Studio.It's constantly running over the code each 500 milliseconds (by a timer), bugging the focus and selecting the words you want to be colored quickly.
Also, when you have something selected in the textbox,it constantly unselects when it runs over the code again (tried to fix that, but failed).So, can please someone improve this code (a lot, it's coded really bad ) so the user doesn't notice the words are getting colored?I put the words into an array with a different array containing the colors of the string array on the same index (Sorry for my "not so good" english.. But I'm sure you understand it ).
I am trying to put colored text into a list box. I use the following
Private Sub ListBox1_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles ListBox1.DrawItem e.DrawBackground() Dim myBrush As Brush = Brushes.Blue Select Case e.Index [Code] .....
This works fine and dandy as long as I use 8 pt font, but when I change the font to 20 I get the following: How can I get the list box to display colored text in a large font?
I have a TextBox in a Windows Forms application in VB 2008 (.NET 3.5) where a user can key an estimate amount. I am allowing them to key dollars and cents, and I want to round to the nearest dollar. The original code had the rounding down when the data was written back to a table, and that worked fine - I have this code in a "Save" routine that fires when the user moves to a different screen or record:
Dim est As Decimal : Decimal.TryParse(txtEstimateAmount.Text.Trim, est) Dim estimatedAmount As Integer = Math.Round(est)
I decided that it might be nice to actually do the rounding as soon as they leave the field instead, so they're not surprised when they reload the screen and find that 1822.60 is now 1823. So I took the exact same code and added it to the TextBox.Leave event handler. And the weirdest thing happened: instead of the variable est being populated with 1822.60 after the parse, it gets set to -1! What the...?
Debugging the handler shows that the value goes into the parser correctly, and if I do the parsing manually via the Immediate window, it parses correctly, but when I let the code do it, it invariably gets set to -1. What's even weirder is that any number gets parsed as -1, not just decimals, and any non-number gets parsed as 0 (which is correct).
Has anybody else ever run into this before? I tried moving the code to the TextBox.LostFocus event instead, but with the same results. I have no idea what in the heck is going on, and obviously there are workarounds galore for this, but it just makes no sense whatsoever.
EDIT: Here's the full event handler (current behavior for which is to put -1 in the TextBox):
Private Sub txtEstimateAmount_Leave(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtEstimateAmount.Leave ' Take any dollars-and-cents amount and round to the nearest dollar Dim est As Decimal
I was wondering if there's anyway to color stuff in a textbox? example: I have a big textbox and if I type hi in that textbox I want that text to become grey, and if I type bye I want the text to become red, any ideas?
btw, I took your advice from my latest thread and installed a stable version of 2005
I did some thinking and come up with the idea "if textbox1.text ="hej" then" set a color but then I realized the whole text would become to coded text, hmm..
For rich textbox in vb.net i want to have single border line. Fixed single and Fixed 3D are having some dimensional effect which i do not want. And i would also like to change the color of the border.
And same thing with the button, for them how to have single line border and specified color.
I don't know how to add colored text to a richtextbox.
To make already existing text colored, I have tried things like:
RichTextBox1.SelectionStart = RichTextBox1.Find("colored word") RichTextBox1.SelectionColor = Color.Blue RichTextBox1.SelectionLength = 0 ..so it will change the color of the found word.
The problem is, when the "colored word" exists multiple times in the textbox, it will never change theirs color. It only searches for the first "colored word" and it wont affect the others.
It would be even better when someone knows how to directly add colored text instead of changing it when it's added.
I am trying to wrap my head around getting some blinking colored text and lasting for 3 seconds on the screen. I'm creating a game where you hit submit and if the answer is correct a label with popup and blink 3 different colors for about 3 seconds also a groupbox background color change. I have found many different ways on here how to do the blinking text. I just can't figure out how to do it for 3 seconds and then disappear. Here's a general idea of the code
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I've out an output rich text box called TbxOutput, and I have many different tbxoutput.appendtext("") methods in my program.I don't really know much about how to set rich text box colors, and what I specifically need is for a simple line of code that i can plug in before the tbxoutput.appendtext("" + vbnewline) methods to make that particular line output text of a different color.
For example, when my program normally outputs messages it does it in black, and i want it to remain that way by default. But when it outputs an error message, I want that particular message
I need to constantly display large amounts of colored text in WPF or Silverlight, and I need the user to percieve it as showing up instantly.
Currently I'm doing this using a canvas and textblocks, one textblock per 80-character line, with multiple runs to a textblock to handle the different colors. There can often be 20+ runs to a line.
In a 45x80 grid of text, this gets a framerate of about 12 in Silverlight, which is sluggish. Oddly enough, it's even slower in WPF... I can only speculate that this has something to do with my dev machine's lousy video card. Maybe it's trying to hardware accelerate and actually slowing down because of it?
I am currently working on my own "Colored textbox control" which inherits from the RichTextBox. What does the "Lines" property do? Does it generate the return array internally, or is it just passing back an array that is internally stored?
[Code]...
Can I skip the generation of "lines" and just use Me.Lines(i) etc. everywhere?The reason I ask is that I want to minimize the lag of the control, and I have to read all or a range of lines fairly commonly.
I am having trouble with executing the setapprole stored procedure in VB.NET on a SQL server database. When in SQL Server Management Studio Express, if I connect to servernameinstance as MYUSER, I can create a new query on the MYDATABASE database in there, with these two lines[code]...
I'm trying to put together a quick example for another thread about treeviews, and I'm getting a problem when I have a recursive routine, getting the message.
Quote:
There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first.
I'm a tad confused as I am explicitly creating a new command every time through the loop, so I'm not sure (unless its something ADO is doing behind the scenes) how the datareaders higher up the tree are interfering.
Here's my code :
Private Sub SetupChildren(ByVal ParentID As Integer, ByRef ParentNode As TreeNode) Dim MyCommand As New SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM Groups WHERE ParentGroup=@ParentGroup", m_myConnection)
[Code]...
Obviously I could close the data reader down before calling the next level of recursion but it would prevent the code continuing the loop at the current level when it had finished processing children.
[URL] The jist of the problem is in fact that in the weka.classifiers.trees namespace you have the following members:
namespace weka.classifiers.trees.j48
and
public class J48 : weka.classifiers.Classifier (Member of weka.classifiers.trees)
Lamentably VB .NET in VS 2008 does not seem to be smart enough to distinguish betweem the two (which is odd, because there is no such problem in VS 2003, or in C# in VS 2008) because of it's lack of case sensitivity. Or possibly because of the fact that ikvmc emits an assembly compiled for the 1.1 run time... I'm not sure. I'm also not quite sure how you would resolve this particular issue and given the time sensitivity of this project I do not have the time to learn C# or Java to an extensive degree.
I cant seem to find any link or topic regarding my problem. I have 2 forms in a project, form one has labels and adjacent combobox while the other form (form 2)has textboxes with adjacent combobox. I am supposed to change the text property of the labels using textbox entry from form 2 and add/delete/change combobox contents in fom 1 using entries combobox at form 2.
i have 2 forms.in form1: i have 1 combobox in form2: i have 1 textbox and 1 button...I want to make in form2 when i enter some text in the textbox and press the button the text to be added in form1 combobox
Im using the following code to wrap html tags around text in a texbox and transfer the text to a single multiline textbox from form1 to form2.[code]My problem is that if for example textbox5 and textbox6 are empty i want the program to continue anyway.
I have to provide an Excel file as an output. I have to color some of lines and make them bold.The input is based on a dynamic list (in memory) and it also could be based on CSV file that I'm already provide today (based on the same dynamic list).I'm wondering what would be the most efficient way (in terms of performance) in order to provide the colored Excel output?Should I export directly from dynamic list into Excel - or - Should I export from CSV into Excel ?
im trying to have the user press a button and a window pops up to select a file. then it reads the file and puts it in a text box. how could i do this?
This is the only way I know how to obtain the info I need for this equation but if generated again with no input from the textboxes I get an error. Is there anyway to bypass this if its generated a second time with no inputs?
Our application is using VBSQL.OCX on Sql server 2000 to create temporary tables and load pipe delimited data from a text file with predefined format into the tables. It is failing intermittently doing this. 99% times it works perfectly. But on occasions it does fail with error. Once the process is rerun with the same input file it runs successfully.Basically the architecture is of Store/Head Office where there are around 200 remote stores sending set of data files to the Head Office. At HO our application sequentially processes each store which has all the set of files received, creates a corresponding table, loads the data from the file into the table and moves onto the next store.If it is for some reason not able to load the file for a store, it gives a failure message and continues with next store.Error which the OCX throws is "Attempt to convert data stopped by syntax error in source field"
In my tabcontrol I have a linklabel and textbox made through code. The goal is to open a url from the textbox by clicking the linklabel I add the linklabel and textbox:
I have a textbox "myTextbox" and a listbox "myList" which shows a list of strings e.g "AAA", "BBB", "CCCC".When the user clicks on an item from the listbox the text must be appended to the end of whatever is in myTextbox with a space preceeding it. e.g " AAA".The user must never be allowed to delete the added text.The user must be allowed to manually enter text in the textbox but it must always be in front of the added text. They must never be allowed to type over the added text or after the added text.I have been trying to get my head around this for a day now and cannot figure it out.
i have 2 textbox's and 1 button i have 1 big textbox that has a buch of number's in it and the number i want to delete is in the top textbox how can i delete number 2 ? from the big textbox ?
