VS 2008 VB And IKVM Calling Java Namespaces But Failing To Recognize All Namespace Members?
Mar 29, 2009
[URL] The jist of the problem is in fact that in the weka.classifiers.trees namespace you have the following members:
namespace weka.classifiers.trees.j48
and
public class J48 : weka.classifiers.Classifier (Member of weka.classifiers.trees)
Lamentably VB .NET in VS 2008 does not seem to be smart enough to distinguish betweem the two (which is odd, because there is no such problem in VS 2003, or in C# in VS 2008) because of it's lack of case sensitivity. Or possibly because of the fact that ikvmc emits an assembly compiled for the 1.1 run time... I'm not sure. I'm also not quite sure how you would resolve this particular issue and given the time sensitivity of this project I do not have the time to learn C# or Java to an extensive degree.
I'm in a VB.NET application. I have referenced some java.* namespaces in my file and am utilizing objects and methods from this namespace throughout the code. Presumably this is relying upon J# to compile.
Are these JDK namespaces fully contained in the .NET framework, or will my clients need to have Java installed when they go to run my application? As a side note, I have not explicity referenced any external Java DLL's or anything. This is all pure .NET as far as my code is concerned.
I have a solution that contains many projects all using the same root namespace. No code files explicitly name a namespace. So lets say the root namespace is ExampleRootNamespace. Now a problem comes into play when I want to add an explicitly named namespace to one of the code files I am working on. I want to be able to isolate this code from the rest of the assembly to be able to run FxCop against it. So I add something like Namespace Interfaces.CSV to the code file.
This causes any code that references this assembly to need to say Imports ExampleRootNamespace.Interfaces.CSV. So far so good. I can even run FxCop against the assembly. The problem now is that in other assemblies I cannot say any longer things like:
Public class frmInputBoolean Inherits ExampleRootNameSpace.frmFormTemplate
Visual Studio is now asking me to rename the namespace to:
Public class frmInputBoolean Inherits Global.ExampleRootNameSpace.frmFormTemplate
There are hundreds of errors related to this. So my questions are:
1) Why would basically naming a namespace under the root for the first time cause issues with the program?
2) Are there any workarounds to this issue without renaming?
I also want to add that with regards to ExampleRootNamespace.Interfaces.CSV I am not referencing this anywhere in the codebase. I'm currently just referencing it from a unit test project. So I don't see why adding this namespace causes an issue.
I am working on a solution that does not name namespaces in code files. Instead it uses the root name space of the project (which is the same across all assemblies). Basically there is only one implicit namespace.
Well, I am trying to isolate some code so that I can run FxCop against it. I explicated named the code file with a namespace to do this. This works for FxCop, but it bricks the entire solution.Visual Studio is now asking me to prefix all uses of the implicit namespace with Global. So instead of:
For a project I am working on there are two namespaces. Currently,[code]...
The problem is that when I have the button click inside the ScreenCapture Namespace, it gives me an error with the Handles Button1.Click saying " Handles clause requires a With Events Variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types". If I move it out of the namespace however, it tells me that Function1 is not defined.
In order to call a java class in vb, I found the following procedure and I tried.
(1) create a java class (eg: MyTest .java)
as public class MyTest { public int myfunction(int value1, int value2) { return value1+value2; }
(2) compile to get a MyTest.class
(3)register Mytest.class using javareg.exe file from Microsoft SDK for Java using javareg /register /class:MyTest /progid:MyTest and see a MessageBox displayed with Succesfull register Class message
(4) copy MyTest.class to C:WinntJavaTrustlib
(5) open a New Project on Visual Basic. And paste this brief code on the Form Load event for example and run it. Set x = CreateObject("MyTest") MsgBox x.myfunction(1, 1)
I did all the above steps but when I run the vb program (Step 5), I get the error message "Cannot create ActiveX component". Unhandled Exception message.
I would use the System.Linq.Dynamic. I added the specified Dynamic.vb file, that starts like this:
[Code]...
to my (VB.NET)solution. Now Visual Studio does not recognize anymore in the project files the System.XXX references, proposing me to change them to Global.System.XXX
I have a code but cant get it to work. I have a .vb site with a namespace and a Class and a Sub.Then on my index.aspx site i cant to call this sub The 2 sites is in the root of my project, and the name of the project is CalendarWeek
My WeekController.vb is Imports System Imports System.Web.UI.WebControls.Calendar Imports System.Globalization
I have web page with four grid views. Each grid is hidden under a div tag. Whenever user clicks on div the data grid corresponding to the div is shown. I have binded data to the grid views at the page load only, since the data size is huge I cannot load the data binding at the page as the time taking to page load is huge. I was thinking a way that grid view gets data loaded only when user clicks on the corresponding div tag
I am attempting to fully convert my Java/VB.Net application (That's actually working perfectly fine, however due to the referencing the jar files using IKVM the application is almost 27 MB big. For just a few classes this is extrememly huge.)I want to converted it strickly to VB.Net. I have 5 Javax.net.ssl references that I'm trying to figure out the VB.Net equivalent of. It seems to me that is should be in the System.Net.Security however I'm unsure as to the correct ones.
Here's an example of one of them: Imports SSLSocket = javax.net.ssl.SSLSocket
I have a VB program that writes a batch file to allow me to run a line of the following format:java <my class file> [options]I then run the batch file using the Shell() routine in VB.When I do this it says it cannot find <my class file>. However if I run the same batch file from a dos prompt it works.why it works in a dos prompt but not in the Shell function?
I am having trouble with executing the setapprole stored procedure in VB.NET on a SQL server database. When in SQL Server Management Studio Express, if I connect to servernameinstance as MYUSER, I can create a new query on the MYDATABASE database in there, with these two lines[code]...
So, I'm trying to make a RichTextBox which makes seperate words colored as you type them (like in Visual Studio itself ).The problem is, it's absolutely not working as I want and absolutely not the same as in Visual Studio. It's constantly running over the code each 500 milliseconds (by a timer), bugging the focus and selecting the words you want to be colored quickly.
Also, when you have something selected in the textbox,it constantly unselects when it runs over the code again (tried to fix that, but failed). So, can please someone improve this code (a lot, it's coded really bad ) so the user doesn't notice the words are getting colored?I put the words into an array with a different array containing the colors of the string array on the same index (Sorry for my "not so good" english.. But I'm sure you understand it ).
Namespace testing Public Module TestModule Public testobj As New test End Module End Namespace
It is extremely annoying to have to start out two tabs to the right on new code. Is there anyway to disable auto-indenting just for namespace declarations in visual studio 2008?
I'm trying to put together a quick example for another thread about treeviews, and I'm getting a problem when I have a recursive routine, getting the message.
Quote:
There is already an open DataReader associated with this Command which must be closed first.
I'm a tad confused as I am explicitly creating a new command every time through the loop, so I'm not sure (unless its something ADO is doing behind the scenes) how the datareaders higher up the tree are interfering.
Here's my code :
Private Sub SetupChildren(ByVal ParentID As Integer, ByRef ParentNode As TreeNode) Dim MyCommand As New SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM Groups WHERE ParentGroup=@ParentGroup", m_myConnection)
[Code]...
Obviously I could close the data reader down before calling the next level of recursion but it would prevent the code continuing the loop at the current level when it had finished processing children.
I've been trying to figure out a simple keypress handling event.I have the code working fine after hunting for a couple of days on the net but have a problem getting rid of the obnoxious bong that comes along with hitting the ENTER key.I've attempted some solutions on the web about changing the KeyAscii to 0 but under that method I cannot even get the program to recognize the key is even being pressed. The code I have so far is as follows and I'm just trying to get rid of the audible bong.
This might seem like a silly question, even for a newbie but I can't access the members of a class from a user control. I am developing a shopping cart application in vb 2008. inside the app_data folder i have a folder name BusinessObjects which contains a class called Catalog. This is the code for this class:
Using data binding and ado i am controlling a listbox selection (draws from an access database) based upon a combobox selection. Problem is i want to display more than just one column. The code i am currently using specifies the displaymember and value member on form load. However, i cant seem to be able to specify multiple display members.
I'm working on small project for my site... basicly we have over 600 memembers.. and every day new member registers as we can keep of track of all the new members we would like to do the following
By CLicking Button Importing members.php list in to our program so we can see all the new members that have registerd
This is good for our modirator so they can keep an eye out on new members
SO basicly
I click button and my program grabs my user list from my website and puts it in my list box ( but program will have to go to page 2 then 3 and so on and so on )
I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:
[Code]...
How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?
I am using the below code to get the local Administrator members, but this code takes about 6-7 seconds to execute. More precisely the "GetObject" takes that long.Is there another way to get the same information but faster? Also, where can I find what other properties the objects holds ? (To see what other useful information I can get)[code]
I'm Noob In Vb. I Would Like To Create a Software That Can Detect Invisible Members On Yahoo. But I Have HTML & Javacode How to add Those to Vb And Create a Nice Software
