I am creating labels at runtime. Inside the .tag property I have a structure. Everytime I attempt to update the structure the .tag property doesn't update.
Here is the structure:

There is a problem in my project. It has a class with several properties. When I set the property, it send command to device through serialport. But the problem is when I get the property, it need to send request command to device, and device return value back. How can I update the property?

I was wondering if I can use an ArrayList inside a structure as one of the structure's properties.Or it may be better to replace the structure with a class. If so, can I use an ArrayList as a property of the class.So what I want to do is have the ArrayList as the property of the structure and be able to add items to the ArrayList and clear the ArrayList from a clear method of the structure.
i.e.,

structure.Clear

Is there a way to tell VB.Net to use a type instead of a local property name when there is a naming conflict in your code?

I've got 2 classes, one called row and one called value. The row class has an array of value as one of its properties. The row class also has a property called flag which will contain an enum for how it has changed. On the setter for value I was hoping to update the flag property of row, but I cant work out how to do it via modern OO. Here's the

I am working on a project that uses lots of custom class objects.Before starting work on real project, I tested the object behaviour on a temporary project. And find that if i add the object to a list and combobox and then make any change to the object property then it reflects in list and combobox.But after using the same process in real project the change does not reflect. how can i update object property placed in the combobox.for eg.Class X has property id and name created objX of type Class X and set id=1 and name='All' insert objX to combobox now, in the same form and in other function when i get objX from combobox and change name='None', then it does not reflect in combobox.

I have a listbox with several list items added. I want that as user click on an item, I should be able to show its property. This should change for different items. For example (hypothetical) : Listbox has numbers 1 - 10. Now when I select 1 I should be able to set property - Name, Lastname, Colour, Age.
When I select 2 I should be able to set - Age, Hair Colour (clr shows), Weight, Date. When I select 3 then - City (combo box drop down), Country, Age only. This way value changes for diff items. One way is to put them in property grid and show them. Though this looks nice but adding/removing items in that is not easy. You need to have a class that refer that to prop grid. Do I have to code for each classes for all values in listbox or is there an easier way to manage items in property grid. If you think prop grid is not the right tool for such an activity then can you suggest something else.
I have a GridView that is tied to an EntityDataSource. Most columns are normal bound columns, but two are itemtemplates. When I attempt a delete on one of the rows I receive the following message:
"A property named 'Building1.building_name' was not found on the entity during an insert, update, or delete operation. Check to ensure that properties specified as binding expressions are available to the data source."
I'm not sure how it is possible that this isn't available, since it displays the element just fine when I'm just viewing - it just throws the error when I attempt deleting a row?

This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if I'm posting wrong. Anyway, I've been having an issue that I've never seen before and is driving me nut, I have a windows form on which I have placed many textboxes that display information from a MS SQL database. The user can then change these values and hit a "save" button which writes the changes to the database. I also have certain textboxes that with the "on leave" event (after a user enters a possible new value) trigger a method that recalculates some of the other fields based on the new information. Hopefully that all makes sense.
So the problem is, when I run through this "recalc" method the first time around, it doesn't update those textboxes that it's supposed to. However, when I put a breakpoint in and debug through it, the debugger shows it putting in the correct values into the textboxes. It's just as soon as the method is done, it puts them back to blank, or whatever they were before

I'm new to VB 2008 after having spent a long time with VB6, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. But I'd really like to have this straightened out.
Let's say I have a pretty large structure that has lots of properties.

Now say that I want an internal database with about 10 instances of this structure total, describing, say, 10 different products that a store sells. When these values are loaded from a database, they remain totally static. (However, they can be different each time a program loads)
Now say that I have a class. Each instance of this class is a type of that BaseProduct structure. Meaning, each instance of the class pertains to one of the 10 types of products that the store sells. However, this class has additional properties that pertain specifically to each instance, which are not static.

Now, the problem here is... If I have 200 different transactions, each one contains an instance of BaseProduct. BaseProduct is HUGE, and is largely redundant (only 10 types possible), so I think it's a little silly to include a whole copy of it with EVERY transaction. However, the Transaction class really needs information regarding the base product it pertains to. Is there a way to, instead of declaring a New BaseProduct in the Transaction class, to simply make one of the properties of the Transaction class a pointer to a BaseProduct variable?
In VB6, I would accomplish this by making a BaseProduct(10) array, and then giving each Transaction an ID number referring to an entry in that array. But in VB 2008, using class structure, this is impossible. I can't define the BaseProduct(10) array outside of a class in a namespace, and if I define it in the actual application's form, then the class loses modularity since it relies on the application that's using it.
I am trying to communicate with an external device and i am trying to send a byte array to the external device via sockets but i am always getting a response the message size is too small so i am not sure what i have done wrong. Between the data type there should be no alignment present and all numbers are represented in little endian format. The char array is not null terminated as mentioned in the protocol specifications.

What I want is that another form should be able to call my sub Select (declared as public) and pass enum data declared in Transport structure. VB allows me to do that if my sub is private but not if my sub is public. To overcome this issue one solution is to declare the enum in the form class itself. But for this I will have to do it in each form.
