how to do different things and right now I'm building a simple program to where the user inputs thier First and last name into two different text boxes and when they click on a button it tells them what they have entered.I'm trying to make sure that they have entered letters only in each text box and if they don't I want it to display a message box that says they need to enter letters only. The problem I am having is if they enter a number in both text boxes then that is the only way that it will display the error message box. Here is my code for the data validation for the user input.[code]
I want to limit and verify the textboxes data which enter by the user i want to make a class in which i pass the textfield and the methods in that class return boolean value . First method check only numbers with decimal point. second method check only A to Z or a to z with some specify charecters. In java it is very easy by the parse INt methods or use class.
I have a masked text box used to create an inhouse Fips code, the first 2 characters are the state abbreviation then 3 numbers. With the format on the mtb set to LL-000, i don't need to worry about the numbers. I am trying to see if a string contains the 2 characters I need from an array, but it isn't working the way I thought it would.
Dim toUpperCase As String = mtbFipsCodeTab.Text.Trim().ToUpper() mtbFipsCodeTab.Text = toUpperCase Dim fipsArray() As Char ={"AK", "AL", "AR", "AZ", "CA", "CO", "CT", "DC", "DE", "FL", "GA", _ "HI", "IA", "ID", "IL", "IN", "KS", "KY", "LA", "MA", "MD", "ME",
I have an VB.net Login Module and what I want to do in this module is to know whether the account being logged in is being used or it's online Ex: If I logged in then it will say "User is already logged in" etc etc...
I would like to know if there is any way that you can verify that a email address actually exists like using this tool: [URL]. would like to wirte an application that does this in visual basics.
I am writing a signout program in vs2008 using an access database.I have created forms and can call student and equipment info from the tables.I got the sign out part working and can add data rows to my table containing that information now I seem to be stuck in a stupid place. Signing the equipment back in I call the record to fill a form now all I want to do is add the date to the RETURNDATE column and save the record back to the DB and I am stuck at that point and cant seem to find the answer on the web.
i m unable to update data into my database in vb 2008. the changes are reflected in the dataset but they are not reflected in database. i have set the datasource's copy to output property to copy if new but it is still not working.
I'm trying to update a data user using vb.net2008 and sql server management studio express for my backend. the error says "must declare the scalar variable "@username" here's the code .[code]...
I'm actually making a library system and I'm having problems with my data not saving in the database. It does appear in the DataGrid but after I close the application and check the database, nothing's there. [URL]
Here's the code.
Imports System.Data.OleDb Imports System.Object Public Class AddBook
I cannot figure out how to change the data in a listbox. I'm being driven completely mad by vb.net, finding it very very complicated.
Ok I have two list boxes on a form that contain correlated data i.e. the first item in the first list box corresponds to the first item in the second list box.
Under the two list boxes I have two text boxes for data entry.
For Example : LstTagDatabaseLoop LstTagDatabaseSource TxtTagDatabaseLoop TxtTagDatabaseSource
I want to Add Update and Remove items from the list. If the user selects an item, I want the selected item in the other list to change to correspond. I also want the two text boxes to be udpated with the currently selected item.
[Code].....
however this invoked the selectedindexChanged sub umpteen dozen times and while in the end it did actually update the data, its obviously not the right way.
I found ListViews which perhaps is more appropriate but I couldn't get my head around it at all so returned to trying to use these listboxes. Is there a different object I should be using.
I'm finding vb.net to be too complicated for a hack programmer like myself...
I have programmed gridview, where you Edit a row and then update it using link buttons provided on the row.But when a user has to make couple of edits on the same grid, it should be saved with one button click and one refresh to reflect updated data.
I have a program that is reading and writing to certain memory addresses to a particular application exe...
So I have a listview control with 4 columns and X rows
| Name | Address | Type | Value |
Name: Is just an identifier so the user knows what it is.Address: Is a specific memory address (eg 0058AFA0).Type: Type of value stored in the address (eg, 4 Bytes, Float).Value: Value to store in the address.Im looking for a way to go through each row, take the address and use this to read the value at that address and then update the value on that row
Why is it sometimes when I update a data using da.update(ds), the data sometimes didn't update or change... for example i want to change the name or number n a record, sometimes there is no changes..
I am completly flummoxed!!! I have writen code for updating my table from a form but when I use the same code only changing the table names it wont work I get the following message: "Update requires a valid Update Command when passed DataRow collection with modified rows" My codes are as follows:
I am having an issue on the listbox when the new data value equal to previous data then = to "0". However, I want if the new data value( A ) is equal to the previous data( B ) then ( A ) equal to ( B ).
Delegate Sub ListBoxUpdater(ByRef listbox As ListBox, ByRef str As Object) Private Sub OnQuoteUpdate(ByRef QuoteUpdate As LingLib.structQuoteUpdate) UpdateListBox(lbBox, QuoteUpdate.tQuote) End Sub
[code]....
My problem is when the new data comes out from the API, if it is equal to the previous data and it will appear 0. But what i want is the new data comes out is 0 and it will equal to previous data. e.g: first data comes out is 12.00, in above case, if the second data comes out is 12.00 but it will shows 0 which means unchanged. But in my case now, i want if the first data come out is 12.00, then if the next data is unchanged (0) and it will appear 12.00 and so on.
I am currently working on a API. I am having an issue on the listbox when the new data value equal to previous data then = to "0". However, I want if the new data value( A ) is equal to the previous data( B ) then ( A ) equal to ( B ).
Private Sub UpdateListBox(ByRef listbox As ListBox, ByRef str As Object) If (listbox.InvokeRequired) Then Me.BeginInvoke(New ListBoxUpdater(AddressOf UpdateListBox), listbox, str)
Data binding should be an extremely simple thing to manage but I can't find a SIMPLE solution to the following problem.
I have two forms
Form1 contains a 4x4 MSFlexGrid (unfortunately an unmanaged COM object but I can merge cells, which I can't do with a managed Datagrid)
Form2 contains other controls which change the data in the Flexgrid.
I connect the two with a Public 4x4 array. Form2 changes the data in this array. I can update the grid data by reading the array. But how do I bind the Grid to the array so that it auto-updates - which is the whole point of binding isn't it?
I have a windows form program that pulls data from a sql server. That same data is being read from a ASP.NET website that sets properties for the site. The SQL server has 3 tables: tblWebPage, tblObjects, tblProperties. and 6 views for the 6 web page: vWebPage01, vWebPage02, vWebPage03..ect. When the program loads you see buttons for each web page on the site. When the user clicks on the Home Page it loads this data: [code]Now, the problem lies in updating vWebPage02, vWebPage03, ect.. I assume with the same data I can copy my form with the code and change the form name and the data set to build and update. So that's just what I did changed the form name where needed and changed "vWebPage01" to "vWebPage02".When I tested the program My "vWebPage01" form it built and updated no problem. when I went to test "vWebPage02" it built the dataset and table adapter fine but it did not update at all.
I've created a little procedure that I use to verify if a value does actually exist. I'm currently using this all throughout my application for things such as verifying if a control's EditValue actually has a value. I was wondering if I have missed any scenarios where a value would not be available, missing, non-existent, blank, etc., and how would I incorporate in my procedure.
Public Function ValueExist(ByRef CheckValue As Object) As Boolean Try ValueExist = True If IsDBNull(CheckValue) Then ValueExist = False [Code] .....
I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column. Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column. Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.
I have not been able to successfully verify a user with LDAP for an ASP.NET web application. I have done so on our own network against Active Directory, but this is against a server outside of our network that is OID (Oracle Internet Directory).Usually, I use the following code with no problem.
Dim myDirectoryEntry As New System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry("LDAP://1.2.3.4:999/OU=SomeOU,DC=Something,DC=com") myDirectoryEntry.AuthenticationType = System.DirectoryServices.AuthenticationTypes.Sealing myDirectoryEntry.AuthenticationType = System.DirectoryServices.AuthenticationTypes.Secure Try

After that, I haven't been able to find a method to verify a user's log in information with their password and then pull back some information.
