But task to use vb.net for school project. I want a code to help me add a No fo Months(this is an integer) to a datefield to do calcualtion and the result display in a textbox as a date. eg I have 2 fields: Months and startdate, the third field which is the result in a date format. eg 6 months to make a payments, the payment start from 01-02-2011. i want small code which would determine the enddate of the payment period. am getting a problem putting the code together

I have following code (in VBA, excell) for calculating a date.I have variable for yeay, weeknumber and daynumber from week, now i wanna calculate the exact date. [code] But when i place this code in vb.net don't get the correct month.It displays correctly the year, day and daynumber but is displays the month as '00'. What do i have to change?

I am debugging an application that I ported from Windows, to *nix, a little while ago. The app stores dates as doubles (using the OLE Date format). I need to be able to inspect the dates - as human readable strings. I cant find an online conversion tool, so I decided to roll my own.
I was originally going to write an OpenOffice function, but I think it would be more straightforward to use one of the .Net languages, to write a small console app that accepts the double as a parameter and prints the date string to the console.
I am relatively new to .Net (though I have dabbled with both C# and VB.Net in the past). Can anyone help with my main() function? - snippets in either VB.Net or C# will be equally useful.

I've imported data from a text file using Streamreader and populated a listbox with this in 3 columns. I now need to
a) get a total value from the 'Hours Worked' column (sum) and
b) put in a calculation to populate an extra column for each entry (Gross Pay) where values are not imported but entered as a result of a calculation.

I have a date in the future e.g. 13/10/2008 I need to subtract the current date (today is the 28/09/2010) minus 7 days, so thats 21/09/2010 minus 13/10/2008, which would equal erm, 720 something ? But the current date won't always be 28/09/2010, obviously. I need the code for this. EDIT: When i said future I mean past :)

I'm having trouble figuring how to code the calculations for a Pocket PC application that calculates the cost of a cell phone bill. From a Pocket PC the user should enter the number of minutes used during the past month, in order to calculate the cost of the cell phone bill. The plan allows 300 minutes for $29.95 per month. For each minute over 300 the cost is $0.17 cents per minute. Tax and Fees are $4.85 a month.
1. User enters the number of minutes used during the past month.
2. Based on plan rate of 300 minutes for $29.95 and 17 cents for each minute over 300 calculate the cost of the bill including the fixed cost of $4.85.
3. The user must be able to initiate the calculation and display the individual charges and the total cost of the cell phone bill.
4. The user should be able to clear the number of cell phone minutes, the individual charges and the bill total

I have an SQL Server database with a table in it that has a column labeled DATE (datatype =date).The table also has a column labeled TIME (datatype Integer) that contains hours and minutes.I would like to be able to display the time in a datetimepicker also.
Would it make sense (remember I�m new to VB) to have the time as part of the date column?Doesn�t the date/datetime data type include time(7/24/1996 12:00:00 AM)?If so what is the best way to add the TIME column to the DATE column.I know I can go back to our other system (IBM iSeries) and combined the columns and transfer the data over again but that is chore (the transferring) and I want to learn how to do these kind of things without falling back on my IBM skills.It seems I should be able to add time to the DATE column of the table. None of the DATE data transferred over to this table had time with it.

I am trying to add a day to a date retrieved as below

Suppose if expenddt_ the value comes as "11/1/2012 12:00:00 AM", than dt_1 has the value #11/1/2012# and expenddt has "11/1/2012" so in textbox txtenddt the value appears as expenddt.
Now when i try to add a day to dt_1 as
Dim test As Date = dt_1.AddDays(+1)
Than the value in test comes as 11/2/2012, i.e a month gets added and not the day. How can i add a day?

I have a program i wrote today, it works just as i wanted it to, with exception of one problem. Im more looking for some ideas on this one. For my work, we have folders on a drive that are filled with txt files, what we wanted to do was to add the last date it was modified to the top of the file so people would know when it was last modified. These files are used on CNC machines and the those people cant look at a last modified date as easy as the computer user can, just a short explanation of why we wanted to do this. So i wrote a program to do it, loop through each file in the user selected folder and add a date to the top of it, works perfect. Now here is the issue, when i write the last mod date to that file, the last mod date on the file changes to that day. For example, if i have a file in there that was modified January 28th 2011, the program reads that file, then on the top of the file it prints that date, January 28th 2011, but then that same file gets changed to the current date as a modified date, so if the program i wrote is used again on the same folder the next day, those files will all end up getting the previous days date on the top. I dont want that! I guess im wondering if there is a way to tell the files mod date not to get updated when its run through my program, it should only update when changed some other way, like someone actually opens it, changes stuff and hits the save button.

I am trying the following code and getting the sql date time overflow exception.....The problem lies in the Gold part...rest to i.e. Silver and Premium work fine....When in Gold part I try to add certain number of months to a date time field I don't know what action is performed as when i check it through Message box the ren_date has value "12:00:00 AM" rather than the new date value after adding 6 months in mem_date value....

This sounds like the stupidest question ever!!! BUT what is the code for adding a number to a label with the label's value being calculated dependent on user input?! So you choose 2 numbers to multiply, If a box is ticked then you add 10 to the label. I've got everything else I just can't work out the structure/code for this little bit.

I have a fixed percentage 0.3% I need to multiply this by a number of months which varies 1 to 12
Having done this I need to add the percentage to a pre-determined number
so as an example
£300 + (0.3 * 10)
I can get the 3% (0.3 * 10)
But when I add this to the existing number (£300) it equals £303 not £309 which is what it should equal.
Can anyone advise the way of adding a percentage as appose to just another number? This also need to allow for -percentages i.e. -3%
The equation I am using is below and I appreciate there is nothing to set decTotalPercentage as an actual percentage but that's because I am stumped...
decTotalPercentage = decPercentage * intMonths
decFinalPercentage = decMoney + decTotalPercentage
