Here is my idea so far: I have a bunch of computers connected in a local network. One of them is a MySQL server, one will have a vb.NET program wich will act as a "second server" and the rest will be different clients. What I want to do is that the "second server" will send out some kind of message or network package to some of the clients in the network, and they will execute a code based on what message it is, or what kind of package it is. I'll give you a simple example:
'array Dim adapters As NetworkInterface() = NetworkInterface.GetAllNetworkInterfaces 'Need to output names 'adapter.Name' to another array for faster access. 'Iteration, slower
[code]....
I would like to put all the network interface names into an array without using iteration (For Each, For i).Is there a way to get the properties ie. 'Name' of an array object and be able to array.getvalue() their names?
I have a .NET 2.0 *.dll that calls My.Computer.Network.Ping(). The *.dll is then run out of an *.exe via AppDomain.CreateDomain() and Invoke(). The problem is that this works just fine under Windows XP but under Windows 7, I get an exception saying that no network connection is available. I tried the Ping() call out of a small console application under Windows 7 and it works just fine.
I have a DataGridView which populates from an SQL query just fine in default mode
using these table names [firstName] [varchar](20) NOT NULL, [lastName] [varchar](20) NOT NULL,
[code]....
I have edited the column headers and set the column names to the same values as my table names yet the data is not showing in form load I have set datagridview.AutoGenerateColumns = False I know the data is there if I delete datagridview.AutoGenerateColumns = False then the data is shown with the default headings?
I made project using VB.Net 2005 with multi languages, the first form is MDIParent form with MainMenu and toolbars also there is some changes in properties as righttoleft and text of forms. In my Mainmenu (Menustrip) there is opetion to change the UI Culture and I have already done but I need to change all texts in the form as mainmenu items anf form properties. My quetion is: how can I reload my form again to read the new texts names and mainmenu items names from resx file?
I am doing work for a client who has lost the source code for one of their VB.Net WinForms applications. The assembly they have is not obfuscated at all. I am trying to recover as much of the source as I can as C# source and have tried several tools for decompiling assemblies, including Reflector, ILSpy and JustDecompile (all the latest versions), but they all produce code with a huge number of errors in them. Because of the large number of errors in the generated code, I am going to ask about the specific errors (in different questions), get more directed answers and in this way try shed some light on why all the tools are having difficulty decompiling this assembly. This question pertains to the fact that the code generated by all these tools always have a large number of invalid member variables (fields) such as the following:
private short $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$nHeight; private ArrayList $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$oColumnLefts; private StaticLocalInitFlag $STATIC$Report_Print$20211C1280B1$oColumnLefts$Init;
why the generated code has these invalid member variables?
Is there any way to get common control names like Save, Copy or Undo Redo in the user's windows language? (I saw this in some programs which weren't made for my windows language. Also the Yes No Massage Boxes will change...)
I'm developing a Windows form. It contains textboxes, checkboxes and so on. When I move these controls (e.g. cut & paste from one frame to another in the same form), their names do not change (and it's good of course) but their function and event names are changed. Why it happens? How to avoid it? It causes me to move all functions from the old control to the new one. It's a lot of work and very annoying.
I am experiencing a problem when trying to convert a rather large VB6 application into a .Net 2005 application. Everytime I try to convert the project I get the following error: "Upgrade Failed: Exception occurred: Can't use character device names in file names"The weird thing is i have tried to convert the project using .Net 2003 and I do not get the error, it does convert.
How can i add an array on names in a list box And be able to add and delet name in a listbox ps sence i just fond out .net cant mke control array ill use listbox with an array of names in it
This next program I am working on consists of 3 listbox's. The idea is to have the end user load names in the first and second list box. Then have a button's action when pressed combines the list in listbox1 with listbox2 then gives the output combination in listbox 3.
I also wanted to include some checkbox options such as adding a "_" or "." for every item.
This is the code I have in one button and I have 2 listboxes that will be filled with the info it gets. This code should compare 1 avi file to one jpg file and see if they have the same name. If YES then it will add the avi path to one listbox. If they don't have the same name OR the .jpg doesn't exists it will add avi path to another listbox.. But currently it is adding the avi name to both listboxes.
I have a ComboBox with several names within it. The names are sourced from a database. Once the user has selected a name from the ComboBox, he must input the no. of hours from another ComboBox and then he is able save it to a .txt file through a streamwriter.
Here is a little image I just put together:I want the file name of the .txt file to be whatever is selected from the first combobox. So, by using the example shown above, the file would be called bob.txt. Is this possible? There shouldn't be any save file dialog or anything, I want it to be automated and the name of the .txt file to be selected from the ComboBox.
I THINK I have seen a simpler way of doing this, however I can't remember how to do it... How can I get all the color names into a ListBox? This is the code I found on the web:
vb.net Prvate Function GetColors() As List(Of String) create a generic list of strings
I am trying to get the list of all the SQL Server names. Using the below code I got the name, but actually my server name is OWNER8SQLEXPRESS and I am getting only OWNER8. How I will get the full name.
vb.net Private Sub frmGetServerName_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim dT As DataTable = Sql.SqlDataSourceEnumerator.Instance.GetDataSources() DataGridView1.DataSource = dT End Sub
how to do a database a network? in a library system, when the student searches a book in a datagridview then, when they borrow books, they click the borrow then it borrows. Then it would reflect the students name and the book that the student borrowed in the librarian form. how is that?
I have written in VB.NET a POS application.I'm using one thermal printer connected to COM1,I create a bat file wit this command :
copy mydata.txt COM1:
I run this bat and printer is working fine.I've installed my application on a second computer in the network and I need to print from there to the same printer, but is located on another computer. So how I use COM1 over the network,I've seen that for LPT port can be used NET USE command.
I am creating files and then allowing the User to browse through the files via a ComboBox. I decided to name each file the current date. In order to create multiple reports each time the application is ran, each report needs a unique name.
The idea is that if they run a report once a day they'll have a unique report each day. But, then I realized that it is feasible that User could run a report more than once a day. So, I decided to create an integer and increment it each time the report has been ran. Then append the file name with that integer. So, report one of that day would show something like this:
12-22-2009_1 and so on.And this works just fine. But, if the user decides to close the app and then run the report later that day, the variable has been reset and no longer works as needed.I'm using a StreamWriter to create the file.
I want to write a routine that loads a table (or query) and outputs it to a text file, with the field names in the first row.If I load the data via an adaptor class into a datatable, I can access the field names by something like DataTab.Columns(i).ColumnName.
As I only want to read the data from the table, using SqlDataReader would be more efficient. But how can I then find what the header or column names are? The following code fails with a message that the SqlDataReader class does not have a member called 'Columns ':
Dim sqlCmd As SqlClient.SqlCommand = New SqlCommand(SQL, Connection) Connection.Open() Dim Reader As SqlClient.SqlDataReader = sqlCmd.ExecuteReader() Dim FName0 As String = Reader.Columns(0).ColumnName() '<==FAILS Is there a way to find the column names of an SqlDataReader object?
I want to fill a listbox with file names of the specific extention. This is my code , does not work.
lstClips_ListBox.Items.Clear() If Not FolderExists = My.Computer.FileSystem.DirectoryExists(PowerPointDir) Then MsgBox("This Directory does not contain any PowerPoint files" & vbCr & "You need to load the files now...", MsgBoxStyle.Information, "Warning - No Media Found")
[code]....
If i take away the DIR name and the Exten then it fills with ALL the file names, not what i want.
