VS 2008 Setting A Primary Key And Changing The Names Of Some Fields On Database File?

Aug 5, 2011

Lets say we have an Access file in a well known path (i.e. "C:MyFolderMyFile.mdb"). That file does not have a primary key set on the table we are interested in . Is it possible to set one of the fields as a primary key (for example the "ID" field , which is also an AutoNumber data) ? And one more thing : I'd like to change the name of a field on that table . For example , lets say there is a field called "My Field 1" (note the space characters) and we want it to be renamed as "My_Field_1" . If it's possible , I'd like both these changes to be permanent in the data base file itself , not just in the imported DataSet ,

VS 2008 Passing Empty Fields To SQL Table?

I'm trying to add a service company from a vb form to an SQL table. It works as long as I enter something in every field on the form. If not I get a syntax error so I thought I should check that the field values were not null

I've tried to add a sub to check for blanks but it's not working

btw the table will allow nulls for all fields

VS 2008 Filter The BindingSource Based On Text Matches Between Any Of The Fields In The Child Table

Jul 16, 2011

I have a database with a table that is a child to many other tables. I am using this child table as a datasource for a datagridview. I am using comboboxes to display specific fields in any parent tables, instead of the user seeing the foreign key. Everything is fine. However, I would like to filter the BindingSource based on text matches between any of the fields in the child table and the corresponding fields of the parent tables.

Database Table Attributes - Query A List Of Table Names In The Database Ordered By Date Created

Jan 22, 2011

[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?

SQL Injection : SELECT Fields FROM Table

Nov 17, 2011

I will post a sequence of examples and thought about sql injection, I wish the expert will correct any small mistake in what I will say so I can know exactly the possible danger.

The required is to create a function in vb.net that accept 2 parameter (table_name, fields_list) and return the result in datatable

Now, I am aware of that table_name and fields_list cannot be passed as parameter to the command object using .AddParameter

here is a couple of thoughts, what I would like to know is

1- which function is exposed to sql injection

2- Which function is more safe

Public Class Form14
Dim conn as New SqlClient.SqlConnection(connection_string)
Private Sub Button1_Click( ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

Make A Table Class With Fields & Records?

Jan 12, 2012

In my first attempt to create a Class that contains something useful (if you will), I am a little lost what a sound way to proceed is. I am trying to make a table that has fields and records. Perhaps imagine a tiny spreadsheet. So, I create my Class. Properties might include the number of columns, the column titles, and the number of rows or records. I then think the thing to do is create a couple of structures to be used within the class. Thus far I have this:

Imports System.Console
Public Class ConsoleTable
Property NumberofCOlumns As Int32

[Code]....

Problems I am creating in my mind include:

1) In the Field Structure, could I make the FieldValue so that I can change the data type? Meaning sometimes I want an instance of a Field to hold a string,or an integer, or a decimal.

2) In the Record structure, for any given instance of one I don't know the number of fields it will hold until I create the new instance. I tried Public RecordFields(FieldCount) As Field in the Structure, but that's not allowed.
I then used Public RecordFields() As Field, and then in my code used the ReDim method. Is there a better way?

3) With the Table Class, same problem. The number of records within any instance of the class needs to be dynamic.

Asp.net - Getting Table Field Names As A String?

Oct 28, 2011

I'm trying to get the list of field names for a given table, to turn them into a string which I can to post back as a variable to another function.I've Googled loads of stuff regarding GetSchemaTable but all I seem to be able to output are field parameters, but not the actual value of these parameters (ie ColumnName, which is the one I actually want!)

Found this page; What is the SQL command to return the field names of a table? But all the queries on there give me an error "You do not have access to Table 'Columns'"I feel sure this is pretty simple, can someone give me a little function that will simply give me fieldNames = "fieldName1, fieldName2, etc"I am using a MySQL server and ODBC connections ASP.NET using VB.
