VS 2008 Application Stops Responding For 5-10 Seconds While Image Is Uploading
Dec 12, 2009
I'm uploading an image to url... etc. The trouble is my application stops responding for 5-10 seconds while the image is uploading. I want to use multi-threading to stop it doing that but I'm confused with the whole way to use controls with backgroundworker. [code] I guess its the textbox which is causing the problem.
My application randomly freezes and stops responding for some reason. A window comes up and says "svhost.exe not responding". My application is big, and I have no idea where to start or how to figure out why it's freezing. I wish I could give you details, but the only thing I can tell you is that my program runs for a random time between 5-20 seconds, then freezes
I have a form with 3 background workers. On the click of a button all three start async. Once they all finish my program stops responding. If I run one at a time I encounter the same error.
'Background worker 1 Disableform(Me) Try Dim source As String = _Topsource("[URL]" & gamertag.Text) Dim statstbl As String = source.Remove(0, source.IndexOf("<div class=""statWrap"">")) [Code] ......
I recently got a new computer with vista. I was working on a Visual Basic project on my old computer, which had xp, and transferred that project to my new computer. A lot of the time, however, when I try to work on my project on my new computer, an error message pops up and says Visual Basic is not responding and then Visual Basic shuts down. Sometimes if I restart Visual Basic it works ok, but most of the time, the same error message occurs. This doesn't allow me to work on my project when I want to. I have checked to see that my Visual Basic is all up to date and it is. Does this have to do with Vista?
I've been working on a program that generates a batch file, then when you press a button, it executes that batch file. There are multiple batch files attached to each item in the list box.
[code]...
The only thing that it does when I press the button, is starts the batch file, then goes to function searchtitle, which executes the batch file again when it finds out it didn't work properly.The button text doesn't change, none of the items are being added to my first list box, and I can't do anything to the window after pressing the button. It constantly opens the batch file every 5 seconds or so.
this is the code i used from this site. everything works fine, but i need a little different code to upload image-here's the code -
Private Sub btnAttach_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAttach.Click Dim iLength As Integer = CType(File1.PostedFile.InputStream.Length, Integer)
[code]....
i dont have these parameters. i only have 1 field in sql server table that says Img and has image datatype. how do i use this code to get my image in db using this insert statement?insert into table1 (img) values (???)
My VB application is behaving strangley. I have form with fairly large number of controls. I am using case against radio buttons. after curtain number of buttons, it stops responding to more radio buttons.
Then I tried to split controls in to 2 form but now my form.showdialog() too now working properly. It takes new from names but show the old form when running.
I have always used the API for Vb.net from Decaptcher.com and have always sent the Captcha by sending an actual url to them as you see in the code below. Or maybe it uploaded the image anyway to them (I use the Webbrowser Control) [code] But with the current project that I am working on right now I am having to take a screen shot of the captcha image, then save it to my harddrive.I know that through your API Decaptcher allows us to upload the image from our harddrive but I just can't figure out how to use the code to do this. I have tried this but it doesn't work: [code]
Is there a way by using ASPxUploadControl to have an image get uploaded automatically when you click the ok button after browsing and then get shown a preview of said image but only upload the image to the server officially after you click an ok button? I found [URL] which looks like it does the automatic upload but thats about all I've found so far.
For a project from skool, I been in charge of development, and we already have the system, but they wanted to add images to the project, and since i been using the TableAdapter.Insert commando to add records to the database, I need to know how to send an Image with that command.
Here is my code EmpTableAdapter.Insert(noemp.Text, nametb.Text, area.Text, DateTimePicker1.Text, "", "Active", "", HERE GOES THE IMAGE )
i am trying to upload an image and saving image name in database as the session name with extension .jpgi got problem that only the image name saved in database not the extension. i am using this code
Dim strPath As String = Server.MapPath("~/UserPics/") If AsyncFileUpload1.HasFile Then AsyncFileUpload1.SaveAs(strPath & Session("UserName").ToString() & ".jpg")
I want to be able to kinda like have a timer that will get an image off my Hard Drive, and upload it online, so that all I'd have to do is download the image, even if it's been written over, I want to be able to broadcast an image from my hard drive, using only my IP Address.
127.0.0.1 is my IP Address.8888 is the port.Somthing like if you were to goto http://127.0.0.1:8888/update.html or Update.Jpg If YOU were to go to this address on your machine, you could see the image... Of coarse, it will probably be an image of which I was able to get from Printing my Screen image, and then saving it as like C:Test.Jpg, but the Timer would get my Desktop Image, or Print My Screen and Save it and Overwrite the Test.jpg image on the C Drive... Ya know what I'm talking about?
I have got one problem by uploading file. I created an aspx file in asp.net then I added a fileupload control and image control. I want to show preview image in image control before uploading. I created a following script.
[code]...
It is not work in every browser. How could I do that?
I want to resize the resolution of an image before uploading it to local storage. Right now it saves the image in its full resolution and I have to manually resize it using width="200" height="200" or a css tag in aspx. I want to reduce the file size of an image before storing it, hence by resizing the image resolution when the user uploads it via button. I've tried using System.Drawing before and setting the int imageHeight and int maxWidth to be resized but couldn't seem to get it to work.
My code so far is: Protected Sub btn_SavePic_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btn_SavePic.Click Dim newFileName As String Dim SqlString As String [Code] .....
Here is the code I used. everything works fine, but i need a little different code to upload image.
Private Sub btnAttach_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAttach.Click Dim iLength As Integer = CType(File1.PostedFile.InputStream.Length, Integer) If iLength = 0 Then Exit Sub 'not a valid file Dim sContentType As String = File1.PostedFile.ContentType [Code] .....
I am not using with cmdinsertattachment. I am using Html - Input(File) from the HTML toolbox. the ID of the input file is ID="upldimg". So how do I insert this into my table which is - Column1 ID identity Column2 Img image Column 3 Description varchar(200).
The insert statement like - INSERT into table1 (Img, Description) values (???, txtdescription.text) Do I do upldimg.text in the insert statement?
I'm using the arrow keys to move an animated gif around a form. However when I add a button control to the form the animated gif no longer responds to the arrow keys.
#include "stdafx.h" using namespace System; using namespace System::Drawing;
I'm writing it again, i'm developing an app in which user click a picture through image and image will be stored in sdcard then I have choose the picture from image view and send that picture to the server. I have convert my image into the byte array and then encoded it in Base64 string format but when i try to send that image to the server it give me an error of soap fault. Here's the my code of android device:
public void doneImage(){ ByteArrayOutputStream out = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); bitmap.compress(CompressFormat.JPEG, 100, out);
I am interested in uploading an image to a file field using httpwebrequest or similar however I am stuck on a few things. Would it be a matter of add the file field and the image I would like to upload as the value? I'm not looking for code, I would like to learn how this can be accomplished.
this is my first post and my knowledge of Visual Basic is still in its infancy (this is my first real attempt at app that is any use) however I am trying to develop an application to delete user profile and home directory folders.
I have the application working but the problem is with the application hanging (I understand this to be due to it running as a single thread and the main form gets ignored while the deletion is occuring) during the deletion process, I have tried various ways to resolve this such as starting the delete procedure as a new thread but cant get it to work without the hang.
My mdi VB.Net application performs a long operation on some data. Ideally I should use a separate thread to prevent the dreaded "Not Responding" message.My problem is if I use a separate thread users then have the ability to click on other controls in the application which can directly affect the operation my background thread is working on, creating an error.
Is there any way to prevent all the mdi windows, toolbars and other controls from receiving mouse clicks and keyboard input during my background thread's operation?
Or is there a way to clear the message que before performing a Application.DoEvents?
I can pause the application and see that it thinks no threads are running so no call stack. The other projects in the same solution are all responding fine, just this one stalls. I can not think of any way to work out what it was doing at time of stall, I have no event logs, no breakpoints, there is no particular thing I can check for in my own logging system (which is quite extensive) that shows where/why/what the application is hanging for. Any clues on how to solve/investigate? To add, this is on a Vista box, but not able to move the system to anything else (source controlled) until I can find out what this is. Its an avenue I can go down if required however.
I want to use the http:[url....API function to upload a picture onto ImageShack and then obtain the image_link. The only problem is, how do you place an image with its file name with the form-data along with the API key? This is what is stumping me in trying to implement the function.By the way, OpenDialog is already implemented to select the file to upload.
Update: I tried adapting the existing code to use the Unified API and it still does not work. If anyone knows what's wrong in the code, just make the modifications... Otherwise,
I'm using VB 2010 Express with a local Access DB. On the form I have a DataSet, a TableAdapter, a BindingSource that points to the DataSet (and the DataMember is the same table as the TableAdapter), a BindingNavigator that points to the BindingSource and finally a DataGridView that points to the BindingSource also.
I have added a Save button to the BindingNavigator. I want to enable / disable the Save button depending on whether there are changes in the data to send back to the Access DB. I think this is the code, but I am not sure if I'm really doing what I think I am (i.e. I am concerned I will assume something turns out to be wrong) or if there are better ways.
I am also uncertain what event to use to respond to. I have guessed at CellLeave, but I could be wrong and there might be much better choices. Finally I've been told that it's different if it's a DataTable, but I do not know enough to determine when something is a DataTable?
Private Sub CompClass_DataGridView_CellLeave(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles CompClass_DataGridView.CellEnter Me.BindingNavigatorSaveItem.Enabled = Me.Component_MI_DataSet.HasChanges End Sub
Im building an application in vb 2010 which uses window media player component. When I run the application in debug mode and Press Play button, the application hangs up and stops responding. When I press PAUSE button in vb 2010 the line it shows is
Quick question - if I have a timer set to 5000 (5 seconds) and the code in the timer takes longer than 5 seconds to run because of sql stuff, will the timer wait until the code is done till it fires again?
When starting my application, I have a couple of classes which are required to read certain files in order to create a set of default data. The logical place (to me) to do this is in a Shared class constructor; the idea would be to throw a class-level event if the reading of the defaults file fails. Unfortunately, this does not work as attempting to access such an event, in order to attach a handler to it, fires the class constructor before the event has been attached. In a failing case, the constructor starts, fires the fail event, the constructor completes, and then the event handler is attached, after the event has fired.
The only other solution I can think of is to give the class a "typeInitialisedSuccessfully" boolean property and put a try/catch block around every call to construct an instance of the class, which seems unnecessarily kludgey to me. Can someone suggest a more elegant solution?
EDIT: Because this is a fundamental Class, used in one form or another across nearly all of our software tools, I would greatly prefer a solution that will notify future programmers that the type initialiser needs to be called, which is why I initially went towards the Shared Constructor as a solution.
