VS 2008 Builder - Filter Report Using The Primary Key
Oct 22, 2009
I have quite a complicated database with a lot of relations and I need to make form that gets data from all kinds of tables and calculate prices etc... Another important thing is, when I open/load a report in my application, I want to be able to filter it using the Primary key. I don't want all records in my database to be shown. I know for sure this can be done but I don't know how.
I have some questions about building reports in Report builder 3.0 OR SQL Server BI Studio 2008. I use the report builder for the good wizard. Make better reports dan de BI wizard. And after that i work further in the BI Studio. Now i have a problem i have a report(letter) that i need to generate. But i exists of 2 pages. The first page is a letter with the second page as Attachment with some calculations. So i may not printed on the same page. But i can't make 2 page's in de report builder or BI studio. How can i do that? Because i must place on each page a footer with some general info.
below is the "Filter Builder" for the OS Event logs.
My Question is, is it possible to use this dialog in VB.Net? i would like to be able to call it in order to generate the XML which i would then use in conjunction with the EventLogQuery.
I create a dataset and configure the query builder and in the filter i key in this "?" and when I search the name by enter the full name it will show but what I want is just type "A" and it will show the whole name starting with A. I stuck in this problem what the code to do in order to type just 1 letter and show the whole name starting with first letter that I want.
I'm develloping a small application over na Access 2007 database. how can i pass the value of a combobox to a query being built with the query builder tool?If I use ? in the Filter column Im prompted to enter the value but what I need is to pass the value of a combobox in a form. I tried to use:
HTML =MyForm.MycomboBox.Value
but it is ignored, interpreted as the value to be filtered.
i tried everything and there is something wrong it doesn't work this is the last report and every application i'm facing the same problem in last report stupid unknown error
Im generating a report for a billing system, user makes a payment and have to print it.I Created a dataset with a custom query, something like select ID,Detail, value, client from. that gives me all transactions. With that I fill a report. Now I need a way to filter so the report only show the current transaction (I have the ID but don't know how to change the dataset query). How can I do this? or there is a better way to resolve this?
I am using the vs2008 ReportViewer control, and I'd like to filter the date range on the report by selected it from (2) DatePicker controls. There are a couple of ways to do it I'm sure, but I would like to write the filter as an expression in the reportviewer designer. How can I target a control(s) on my form to filter the expression through?
i am trying to load a filter on load of a report in my database. here is the line of code, i know i am close but i just cant get it right, i know the titles of all the forms, queries and reports are all correct but i am missing something still and cannot figure it out.
Me.Filter = "qryVisa list.[Country] Like " + Chr(34) + [Forms]![frmPassports and Visas]![Combo24].[Value] + Chr(34)
I need to be able change the filter on a report to reflect parameters selceted by the person running the report and then send the report as an rtf file via email.[code]However, acViewDesign is not avaialable for mde files. Also SendObject does not provide a way to apply a filter to a report. My application is split into an mde front-end and an mdb back end.
I am trying to filter the results of a datagridviw using the bindingsource.filter method.
Dim filters(2) As String ... If Me.txtPartIDFilter.Text = "" Then
[code]....
The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message. As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose. It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.
On a client i have an anonymous list containing a multi-column primary key previously selected from the DB.Then i need to select all the records from the DB that equals the primary key list i have stored in the memory.[code]
I want to distribute my downloader base, but not the actual source code. I've got some parameters in the downloader which the user needs to change, such as the download link and file description. How do I create a program that changes these? The user will insert the desired values into the builder, and the builder will create the downloader.exe that can be distributed to other people.
In Access, when you build a new query, you can add tables to the view, which is then represented by individual windows that are somehow embedded/constrained to the upper portion of the query designer. I know then typically, windows are free floating anywhere on the screen, but somehow they manage to keep it confined to a certain container area. It also appears that the windows never get a real "focus" as the title bar is always a faded shade of blue, yet, you can still click on them and move them around.
I have created a query method for my tableAdapter in the dataset designer. I typed the command text manually, but tested it in the query builder after I got a Constraint Exception when debugging. When running in the query builder via 'Execute Query' I get exactly the results I expect. When running the application I get this exception: "Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints." I tried temporarily setting my dataset's EnforceConstraints property to FALSE but still get the same exception. I can't understand why the Query Builder would return the correct datatable but running the app would not. Is this a bug?
I've created a log in system using a database and query builder to return the correct values, however, once the users signed in I need to bring up the rest of their data from the same table in the database. How'd be the best way of going about this? I'm not sure whether the log in should be changed to use the primary key as well.
I have an access database with 4 tables and two of the tables have absolutely no need for a unique field that would be a primary key. One will only have one record and the other is a detail table for two master tables. I of course get an error like "UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information." when I try to save. Do I have to just create a primary field key I don't need or is there a work around for this?
I would like to have some explaination about the characteristics of a primary key in the table of such database. This is for vb 2008 express edition, since im new to this language,if this is true, as far as i understand about the characteristic in setting the primary key on each field for true.My question is if you are doing an updates/edit records in your table using the DataContext,if you setup the primary key for true of one of your field in the table it would edit all records in one datarow but if you put the primary key for true in all fields except one of them, all the records in the data column of that field which primary key is false could be edited.Basically its impossible to edit all records in the datarow and all the records in the datacolumn of the table in such one event. Is there any further explanation about the characteristics of primary key in the table?
I have two similar databases and i want to update a table of one database from the other, so insert new records, delete records that are not in the source and update different values.I use the dataadapter update method but it not recognize the primary key, so it only work when the destination table is empty. Otherwise i have an exception of duplicate primary key.The databases are sqlite but i tried with access too with the same error (different message due to different provider but the two times saying that cant insert because the primary key is duplicate).
My code is:
vb Private Function updatetable() connectdbsource() connectdbdestination()
Table1 contains items for sale (referenced) Table2 contains Stores (Parent) Table3 Contains items in a particular store (Child)
the problem is the data in this case. Table 2 contains a StoreId field as a primary key. Table1 Contains an ItemId field. My problem is in table 3 this contains 3 fields, StoreId, Name and Quantity.
Now my Table1 contains a field called Name and one called PluralName, I need to determine which field in table one relates to the Name field in table3.
The following 2 constraints exist currently in my app
Table2 - StoreId (one) to Table3 - StoreId (many) Table1 - Name (one) to Table3 - Name (one)
can i add another constraint :- Table1 - PluralName (one) to Table3 - Name (one) ???
I am presuming if i do i will get a constraint error as the property does not relate on a one to one level if the store has more than one item in stock and vice versa when it has only one in stock.
The first problem I have now is how to add all the data to the combobox from access 2007? [I have solved this myself accidentally.]
The second problem I have is I cannot save the primary key.
Assume that I have these: Table name: tCustomer Fields: ID Datatype [Text]
[Code]....
Now, the user fills in the form. The ID cannot be edited by them where it's automatically counts the number of customer in database and give the id. For example, I already have 3 customers in the database so when I add new Customer, it will be 4 for the ID.
When I click save, it shows me the message of "Index or primary key cannot contain a Null value." I have set an input mask for my Customer. So, can I make it to save in a format like CT001, CT002, CT003 automatically?
how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.
I just got into VB 2010 with SQL 2008 Server Report. I was able to create a report as my wish and it's vieable via direct url (URL). But I want to pass login Information and Selection parameters to the report. But I don't want to pass them thru URL, So I want to load them from the application (winform) and launch the report in iexplorer.
Lets say we have an Access file in a well known path (i.e. "C:MyFolderMyFile.mdb"). That file does not have a primary key set on the table we are interested in . Is it possible to set one of the fields as a primary key (for example the "ID" field , which is also an AutoNumber data) ? And one more thing : I'd like to change the name of a field on that table . For example , lets say there is a field called "My Field 1" (note the space characters) and we want it to be renamed as "My_Field_1" . If it's possible , I'd like both these changes to be permanent in the data base file itself , not just in the imported DataSet ,
