I need to be able change the filter on a report to reflect parameters selceted by the person running the report and then send the report as an rtf file via email.[code]However, acViewDesign is not avaialable for mde files. Also SendObject does not provide a way to apply a filter to a report. My application is split into an mde front-end and an mdb back end.

I want to change the log file filtering at filtering at runtime. I am referring to the traceEventType in the following example.

I have found the documentation that allows me to change it in the config file, but I need to do it at runtime. What I am trying to acheive is to allow a beta tester to turn on more detailed logging (according to the TraceEventType...) when encountering an issue in order to email me the log. And then switch back to less detail.TraceEventType.Information)

how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.

I have quite a complicated database with a lot of relations and I need to make form that gets data from all kinds of tables and calculate prices etc... Another important thing is, when I open/load a report in my application, I want to be able to filter it using the Primary key. I don't want all records in my database to be shown. I want to change some parameter values when report displayed in report viewer at runtime... The user should be able to modify these values.
I have an application in wich I use a Microsoft ReportViewer.
Also I have two buttons inside the form, close to my report viewer. First button is named zoom_minus and the second button is named zoom_plus.[code]....
I'm getting familiar now with using the Dataset Designer and how it makes for quick and easy updates and query of tables. I use to use the OleDB commands and leave the Connection String as a Global Constant so I can easily change it if the server name changes, or if we have to re-direct the .NET to another instance of the database.
But now that I use the Dataset designer I'm concerned that I maintain flexibility and support in the long run. how the Dataset designer works and where it stores it's connection string info? And how difficult that would be to update. It looks like I modify the App.config file, but I'm unfamiliar with this.
What am I getting myself into? It looks like a standard XML file. Is that it?
I have 6 to 7 tables with state information in them. They all have the same field names. I have a Crystal Report that is based on one of them. I want the user to be able to select a state and change the Crystal Report to use that table instead of the one it was based on.I mean when user select text in combo box and then click on "OK" then report show (using only one rpt for all the tables of same fields).i have the database name"Rajab" in which the all the tables have same fields and structures now the problem is that i have designed an rpt now i want that if user select any table from the list of combo box then through this rpt the data of every table shows. how can i use that rpt for every table because i don't want to use seperate rpt for every table i want to use only single designed rpt for 6 to 7 tables.

When I use a datagridview and setting the EditMode to OnEnter I get the red exclamations telling me that I have an error when this is needed. This works all good. when I click the save button on the BindingNavigator, the application saves the record even when this validation is showing. How do I filter up this validation code through a datagridview and stop the program saving the data? If you need the code for more information, I will add this to the forum.

I have a push model: creating a dataset, putting data into it, making that a report source, and putting the report source onto (or into) a crystal reports viewer control (not neccessarily in that order). It works -- for the first page that's displayed.That report has two pages. If I click on the control to go to the 2nd page (where I have no data displayed yet), then on the control to come back to the first page, it displays with no data -- just the background text is there.I can see my dataset-loading code executing in the debugger, and as near as I can tell the database is no longer giving me back any data

I am using VB.Net and crystal Report in VS2008. On Crystal Report I have a database(SQL20005) Column "Address".
I have used "Can Grow" option for that Column to change. But it resizes Vertically. I want to change its Width as Address have different data.
