Sep 8, 2009best way to check if a textbox has only 4 numbers and isNumeric, for example i need to enter postcodes.I currently have:
If CDbl(txtPostcode.Text) <> 4 Or Not IsNumeric(txtPostcode) Then
MessageBox.Show("Postcode must be 4 Digits", "Error")
But the message box comes up regardless of whether there is 4 numbers, letters, or anything in the textbox. Its also used in the leave function of the textbox.
Math - Produce All The Possible Combinations Of Numbers
Oct 6, 2009I have 36 numbers in sets of 5. (eg. 1-2-3-4-5, 2-3-4-5-6 etc..) I need to find all the possible combinations of these numbers which total the same sum. For instance the lowest sum would be: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15. The highest possible sum is: 32 + 33 + 34 + 35 + 36 = 170. Now every five number combination within these 36 numbers will sum up between 15 and 170. How would I go about this in vb.net to produce all the possible combinations which would total say 92.

i need a code to generate all the possible combination of the numbers a user types into the textboxes i have two images (Panel3: the textboxes where added during design time) image2: the textboex were added using the code i gave about
generate all the possible combinations of numbers typed into the textboxes (Example see panel3.jpg image),
The user will type in the desired unique numbers into the textboxes without repetition (Please see the image i did not repeat any number, so can the code detect when a number have been typed twice?) Else when running the program i will be carefull not typing two numbers twice, but its adviceable to detect when a number is typed more than once.
Then the amount of unique number the user will type or supply to the desired textboxes does not matter here and as you can see in the image the amount of numbers in each column is not the same ie it may or may not be same amount (but number must be unique. Please try and see if it can be done to prompt user to enter the amount of numbers to supply in each column)
Then After supplying the numbers just like the one in Image, The button Click will generate all the Possible Combinations of the all the numbers typed into the textboxes in the columns.. Then After generating the combinations in the Listbox, the next Button will be able to delete them from the Universal 90c5 just like the former.

So 1233456 becomes 12 33 45 6. Is there a way I can use format as string or IFormatProvider, like? That would put a limit on how long the string could be though, right? Since I'm casting to a long.

VB6 Adding Random Numbers To Numeric Data
Apr 5, 2010I have an issue in VB6 that is giving me a major headache. When using a variable defined as a single data type, VB6 will add random numbers to the number i assign to it.
For instance I have a single variable that is manually set to 0.3. Then i create another single variable and set it to 0.25. I have the program add 0.01 to the second variable until it equals the first. But they never equal. I couldn't figure out why when both were showing they equaled 0.3.

Oct 17, 2010I am having dificulties taking a datagrid cell value stored in the following location (datagridVNTPSorted.Item(15), irow).Value) into individual digits to reassign values for counters.
The cell in the datagrid (Listed Above) contains a number between 1 and 5624. I have 4 different counters. If the number was "2856", the counters would need to be updated as follows:

Sep 14, 2009I have a string I want to parse. I could write the code to do so, but I figured that VS.NET has a parser that should do this for me.however, I can't find it. All the searches I do return info on how to parse numeric values in string form into real numbers. It would be nice if the MSDN search had some ways to allow users to enter more details than just search text and 3 ways to filter out irrelevant stuff. In any case, I also tried things like string.parse (nope - although I kinda figured this would be it.) I also looked at Enum.parse, but the code indicates that it works with arrasy of items, not strings.

May 14, 2012I have a textbox which has a numeric value that changes - would it be possible to check if that value matches two numeric values in a text file? and if the value matches then to display some text in a label? The textfile only has fields displayed like so

So I would only need to check if the numeric field in textbox matches the two numbers in the second column. In the past I have use System.IO.File to create/delete/append to files but I havent come across anything like contains.

Mar 16, 2011i am creating a maths program that works out five number summarys of a range of data. i am having trouble working out the smallest number in a group of numbers. i have used a bunch of if then statements to work out the maximum and i figured that by exchanging a few variables and swapping greater than signs for less than i could use the same code to work out the minimum, but all i get is zero, no matter what i input into my textboxes. below is the code i have used to work out the maximum number

THe names go into a seperate listbox to the numbers.I then press 'show me the list' and i get to view my numbers and names listed in the two listboxs. I also have a button which averages the numbers in the numbers list box. But i dont know how to get it to work I will divide by the number of items in the list box.note: The average will be displayed in a label called: lblavg

I am a beginner but I also have a basic understanding of quite a few program statements and objects. My Goal: For the sake of simplicity I will use an example. I have a Tetris game, the player loses in the first level earns 25 points they click the save score button. , they play again tomorrow and do 1,000 levels and earn 25,000, now their score is 25,025.
Then they play my blackjack game, they gain 25,025 points when they start automatically from their Tetris game, they earn 25 points in blackjack click a save score button, now they have 25,050. [Thus far I have 2 games, and they both share a score that will need to be added to in the future]

VS 2008 MSChart - Plotting Non-numeric Value?

The value <1.0 is there as we cannot give the exact value if it is less than 1 but we need to display it.
Is there a way of just displaying the datapoint label with '<1.0' as text, or something similar?

When I try to sort the string value column, it sorts correctly. But when i try to sort the numeric value column, it sorts as if its string value.
