Parse Numeric Values In String Form Into Real Numbers?

I have a string I want to parse. I could write the code to do so, but I figured that VS.NET has a parser that should do this for me.however, I can't find it. All the searches I do return info on how to parse numeric values in string form into real numbers. It would be nice if the MSDN search had some ways to allow users to enter more details than just search text and 3 ways to filter out irrelevant stuff. In any case, I also tried things like string.parse (nope - although I kinda figured this would be it.) I also looked at Enum.parse, but the code indicates that it works with arrasy of items, not strings.

I'd like to take numeric strings of arbitrary length and insert a space every 2 characters. So 1233456 becomes 12 33 45 6. Is there a way I can use format as string or IFormatProvider, like? That would put a limit on how long the string could be though, right? Since I'm casting to a long.

Given a string as a form of input (parsed from an input file) which represents a number and a mathematical operator (<, >, <=, >=, !, !=, and a few others), what is a really fastefficient way to chop off that operator, compare it to a list of valid operators, and then set an "operator" variable to a state (i.e., Enum) representing the identified operator, then return just the number (as a string)?I'm open to various ideas and implementations.I've tried several (about 6-7) myself, and find I'm not really satisfied with the speedThe fastest so far is a For Each loop that walks my list of "valid operators", and compares that operator's string representation against the chopped off bit from the numeric string. I am trying to make a licensing system for my VB 2010 express application. (2) above will act as a serial key which can be derived from (1) which is an encrypted form of something unique of the client computer.
I'm using Entity Framework code first and pulling some data back from our database. In the table I'm accessing is 13 columns that store the number of a items a customer purchased per week for the last 13 weeks as a char field. I have no control over how this data is stored. I need to total the 13 weeks results together to get a combined total, so take week1 + week2 + week3.... = Total Items Purchased over 13 weeks.In SQL I'd just Cast the char to an Integer and add the values together. But I'm struggling finding a solution to do this in linq.

I need to document binary files containing integer and real numbers. I use BinaryReader, and BinaryWriter classes, with functions like ReadInt16, ReadSingle, or ReadByte. The files should be readable by any other hardware architecture/OS besides x86/Windows.

I have an issue in VB6 that is giving me a major headache. When using a variable defined as a single data type, VB6 will add random numbers to the number i assign to it.
For instance I have a single variable that is manually set to 0.3. Then i create another single variable and set it to 0.25. I have the program add 0.01 to the second variable until it equals the first. But they never equal. I couldn't figure out why when both were showing they equaled 0.3.

I am having dificulties taking a datagrid cell value stored in the following location (datagridVNTPSorted.Item(15), irow).Value) into individual digits to reassign values for counters.

I have a textbox which has a numeric value that changes - would it be possible to check if that value matches two numeric values in a text file? and if the value matches then to display some text in a label? I have a datagridview with 12 columns and 30 rows I want to use as a scoreboard for a game (no need to input or save data). Columns are for the players and rows for the scores of each turn played. Say player1 has a score of 10 I type it in in his column in row1, the 10 should show up in a label as his total. His next turn his score is 100, type it in row2 and the label should show 110 as total. Hope I am clear enough, is there anyone able to give an idea on how to do this (in code if possible)?
If I have a column say "price" that has for arguments sake 800 rows and I want to use a textbox and button multiply every row by the number entered in the text box when I press the button. So lets say I want to raise the price 8.5% I'd put 0.085 hit the button it would loop through the rows and multiply each value in the "price" column accordingly.
