VS 2008 Loading 10 MB Text File To Richtextbox And ProgressBar
Nov 20, 2009
im working on the project and loading 10 MB text file to richtextbox, but problem is my application freezing during that time. Can anyone post the solution for progressbar during the file is loading?
I was wondering if this was possible, if so can you point me in the right direction? "Display the progress of loading a txt file into a listbox with ProgressBar".I am basically loading a file (blah.txt) which contains several strings each on their own line:[code]I would like to display the progress of the listbox loading within a progress bar.
i have me a database (.sdf) which loads its records into a listview. One of the database, due its size, takes some time before everything is loaded. I'm using cursor.wait atm, but it I guess there's a more professional approach.
How do I show a progressbar while loading the data?
Here's a small piece of the code I use to load the data:
I want a progressbar to tell me when my application is done loading, so I have tons of lines of code and the program is complete and it runs threw WMI, etc., etc., how do I get the progressbar to equal the value of completion my whole programs process has done?
I am using the following code and I get an error that the file isn't residing where in REALITY IT IS! I know its my syntax.BTW, this directory structure I also created in the Solution Manager.
I ran into another speedbump with loading a rich text format file to a rich text box. In the program the text file is supposed to load when an listbox item is clicked. I believe that the code is correct, however, the file is not loading or not displaying. After the code was changed to this I saved the program and moved it do the approperate directory and added RFT Troubleshooting Docs folder. Running Visual Basic Studio 2008.
Private Sub btnOne_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOne.Click lstOne.Items.Add("Template") End Sub [Code] .....
I have a few questions. Working on a program here that reads in data from a .txt file and puts it into 3 different labels during the form load procedure. I was wondering though, here's what I have so far:
Dim contents As String contents = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("UserInfo.txt") Label1.Text = contents
ok.. i have i "Worldchat.rtf" on a server.. that was a .txt before.. but i can open it whtout problem in windows. Dim strtemp As String = My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.'downloads the fileRichTextBox1.LoadFile(strtemp & "" & "worldchat.rtf", RichTextBoxStreamType.RichText)gets a error saying "file type invalid"
I Have a RTF File which i have exported from CrystalReportviewer Now i want to assign the exported RTF to a RichTextBox[code]..
The File is Loaded successfully.. But i m loosing the Formatting , i mean to say When i m opening the Same RTF Outside of the application its Showing the Format As it was in Report ... But While i m Attaching it to Application It looses all the formatting .
I am pretty good with visual basic and visual studio, but the one problem I have is saving... I am currently creating a game, and it has a lot of variables, I want o be able to save all those variables to a text file and then re-open it later. When it is open, i want the variables to have the original value from the text document.
To sum it up: I need variables to be saved in a text file, and then be able to open the text file back and have the variables have the proper values from the text file.
I have been searching around google, and I found ideas, but I have no idea how to use them. Like using XML or saving a table with " TextFile.WriteFromTable" "TextFile.ReadToTable" but I don't exactly get how to use those (the posts weren't too clear)
I need some help loading RTF files in a RichTextBox Control. The RTF file i have has a lot of textbox and some graphics. I tried several methods, but i cannot load the RTF file correctly. Here is what i have so far:
Code: Private Sub btnLoadFile_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoadFile.Click Dim fn As String Try
[Code]...
I suspect that the LoadFile method cannot read the TextBoxes in my RTF file, or maybe i'm missing something. Attached is the file i'm working on.
I have a form let's call it Form1 that calls another form(Form2) Form2 to has a bit a code that needs to load in the LOAD_EVENT and takes about 4 seconds.
I have made a new form(frmProgress) that only has a progress bar.I want frmProgress to show up and load the progress bar meanwhile Form2 is loading.I've tried using BackgroundWorker but I can't seem to get the grasp of it.
I am binding the data to datagridview using dataset ( datagridview.datasource=ds.table(0) ).but i want to show the loading status of the datagridview in progressbar.
Sub laad_leden() Dim myConnection As New connectdb Dim tabel As New DataTable
[CODE]...
While loading the data to the program the window freezes. It shows the progressbar but the progressbar is also freezing. How can i let the progressbar marquee while loading / freezing.

I'm new to VB and I'm making my first Application.I want my ProgressBar to start loading when MessageBoxButton.OK is pressed. This is my
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click MessageBox.Show("My Text", "My Title", MessageBoxButtons.OKCancel, MessageBoxIcon.Information, MessageBoxDefaultButton.Button1, MessageBoxOptions.DefaultDesktopOnly, False) If AcceptButton Then ProgressBar1.Start()
[Code]...
Also, I'd like the ProgressBar1 to finish after a certain time after it started. How do I do that?
I am trying to read a text file into a text box, and show the progress bar loading. Sometimes if the text file is big, i don't know when it will finish reading it. This is basically the code i use to read a text file, but i don't know how to show the progress bar.
I'm having a problem with loading two text boxes from a saved text file. I've built a log in form that saves the user-name and password on separate lines in a text file.I have a save button and a load button. My problem is that I'm new to Visual Basics and I can't figure out how to get the two lines from the file to load into their separate boxes on the form. The code that I have loads both lines from the text file into the User Name Box.Oh the username is on the first line in the text file, and the password is on the second line of the text file. Could someone please help! My Loading code is:
Private Sub btnLoad_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoad.Click If File.Exists("Login Config.txt") Then Dim ioFile As New StreamReader("Login Config.txt") Dim ioLine As String ' Going to hold one line at a time
I am trying to create a program which reads data from a text file and insert the data in to a SQL 2005 table, but unfortunately it only reads the first line and insert correctly but not the rest of the lines on the text file
i am using vb.net 08. I have a php file loading into a text box. and then i have an external text file. the text file looks like this:"text 1= text 2 text 3 = text 4 etc"I need the program to search for terms inside the text box that are on the right side of the equal sign and replace it with the one on the left
I picked the idea to make a little agenda for my own use and my plan was to edit a txt file using the RichTextBox. I want to use a DateTimePicker too, so that I can load a specific text file for the date chosen so that I can edit it. Does anyone have an idea how I can use the DateTimePicker to create and load certain txt files related to the same date?
I made a text file (.txt) in my project by going to Add New Item and then Text File. I want to have my text file be loaded into the rich text box i have on my form but it doesn't work. It says it can find the file. This is my code:
I am new here and just started visual basic 2008. I want to load a BIG file to edit the text. It is 24MB So whenever I load it in the richtextbox it shows : 7@ :/ Regular text files load fine. Here is the CommonDialog1Open.Filter = ("EXE [*.exe*]|*.exe|All Files [*.*]|*.*") CommonDialog1Open.ShowDialog() rt1.Text = (My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText(CommonDialog1Open.FileName)) I know I am trying to load .exe! It will load if I save it through the program but will only show 7@.
So i have a text file that is created in the program which can be loaded back into the program(game save)
Whatever is in the text file "stats" should be listed in listbox1 in the same order it is in the text file. The same with "items" in listbox2. And then "quests" will be in listbox3.
The problem is when i load it instead of what is in the text file it says...
note that box3 is correct that it has nothing in it.
Getting a vibe that my VB is cursed. All I want to do is load a textfile and have the text appear in TextBox1 But no. I have looked at 3 different tutorials and I have tried copying their code word to word but still!
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ImportToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ImportToolStripMenuItem.Click
[CODE]...
And it gives me the following errors:
Error1Character is not valid.C:\Users\Saurabh Sharma\AppData\Local\Temporary Projects\WindowsApplication1\Form1.vb1067WindowsApplication1 Error2'daText' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection
