I created a class library of useful functions and it compiled successfully into a DLL. It works great but I need to reference the DLL by navigating to my class project.
Can't I just move the DLL into the System32 folder and point to that reference? Do I need to register it with the OS or can I simply drag & drop?
how can I add a class of a different project to my current project as a reference?I tried Right click_-> add existing item --> ( The class from the other project) then it gives me error.I am not sure how can I use that class as my reference to my current project?

I added a reference to the DLL - but it appears to have copied it locally - and that's causing problems when I modify the class library. Seems I have to drop the reference and re-add it.
I'm seeing info on the web about adding a PROJECT REFERENCE but can't seem to get that to work.
What is the best method of sharing a class library with several other projects.
Actually - should all my projects be in one SOLUTION? Is that preferred.
It will be 5 projects all working with the same class library...
I have a 'property management class' that contains several functions and properties. I have several other classes that use the 'management class' as a property to derive the value of several of its other properties.Is there a way for me to reference the outer class from the 'management class' functions without having to pass it as a parameter? I ask because several different classes can have this 'management class' as a property and am having a hard time typing the parameter.

If while I am in the C# project, and I Ctrl-Click or Go to Definition on an element that is part of the VB project, it takes me to C# generated metadata instead of the actual VB code file.Is there any way to get this to go to the VB code file, so I dont have to navigate manually in solution explorer/navigator?

View 4 RepliesI have a project with several forms and modules. The problem which I am mentioning revolves around 3 items : 2 forms (e.g. form1 & form2) and a module. (Using VB.NET 2008, .net 3.5)
Now I have a structure declared in a module. I have a variable of that in form1 and form2.

Now what is happening is, I am passing structure variable MScan (Form1) to Form2 (see function of form2 InitFilter) byvalue. Then in form2 I am changing value of a copy of the structure (see variable MS being changed in a private sub). But then when I close form2, form1's variable of MScan also get the value of variable MS (declared in form2).
I don't understand as this is not suppose to happen. I have reloaded my project as well but this problem is there. Why is my form1's variable value MScan being changed by form2.
I just tried to convert some of my Projects from VB2008 to VB2010 RC, but got compiling Errors while compiling the resX Files. Seems like the reason are ImageLists/Icons, since if I remove them the files compile fine. I already tried to edit the Forms witch are showing the Errors with the Designer. The Designer changed the Content of the resX file lightly, but the error was still present Here the Error(German Version): 'FormsfrmUserTmpBUTable.resx : error RG0000: Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.' I recall a similar error in the Beta, but since I can't find it anymore, I guessed it was fixed.

View 2 RepliesI'm developing application that is plugable. The plugins are loaded via Assembly.LoadFrom(). In my solution I have 4 projects. A WPF, 2 DLL and another DLL that is a plugin for the app. The plugin project references one of the other DLLs. When I build the Solution and run I was getting an error trying to use the plugin dll because it was expecting an older version of the referenced project. I had to clean and rebuild the plugin project to get it to run correctly.

I have a class library called Encrypt.dll that I added to my project (that class encrypts strings..). I have a problem that when I drag the app out of the Release folder, it crashes, giving me this error:Could not load file or assembly 'Encryption_Class, Version=1.0.0.0...' or one of its dependencies. If we are within the derived class then ofcource we can use MyBase keyword to access base class's object reference . That's fine , how can we take that base class's object reference outside that derived class's definition.My following code will explain what i want . I have 2 projects, one built in VB.NET and another in C#.NET. I have made many web browsers that just navigate to a web page, I don't have any buttons or any thing like that as it is controlled via other software using shortcut keys etc.I have created a button in my other software that sends the keys strokes "Control" and "H" I can get this to navigate to a webpage by manually typing i the same page that it navigates to when the form loads, but this mean I have to type the address in twice for each browser I make. I first type the url for the browser to navigate to in the properties section in VB and this is nice and quick to type in each webpage and build quickly build a new browser for it. Currently I have to repeat that url in the browser_homebutton Private Sub, what I want to happen in the below Private Sub is that it navigates to what ever address is typed in the "URL" cell in properties of the browser. The events from aaMyForm execute correctly but the controls added to it are not shown on XForm. I have found some info about set Modifiers Protected in order to be able to change the functionality of the controls but havent found anything about why the controls aren display on the XForm.

View 18 RepliesFor reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.

I need to convert all types of audio formats to the mp3. I think I need to add the refrence of the dll (lame_enc.dll) into my .net application. When I try to add the DLL reference to my project, I get an error: "A reference to C:Lame_Enc.dll could not be added.
