View 8 Repliesmy OCR copy text to a TextBox with at end, acts like enter key. Is it possible to replace it to something or remove it? For example, I want to copy number 1000 to my text box with OCR but I get 1000(its a little different boxes, I couldnt copy exact ones here). And I cant do
TextBox2.Text = TextBox2.Text.Replace("", "")
, because is an "enter key" and what I get looks like that:
My program paste lots of stuff to a text box. Is it possible to replace every character that is not a number or a point to nothing? It may get lots of weird character there so is here way to replace them to οΏ½οΏ½ and keeping numbers?
I know how to TextBox1.Text = TextBox1.Text.Replace("%", "") But its too many simbols to list, Can it be done easier?
I am trying to do this but it doesn't work:
VB
Dim str As String = "07" & GetBetween("Stephen 0761234567", "07", vbNewLine)Dim op As String = "lol" TextBox1.Text.Replace(str, op)
GetBetween is just a function to match something between something else. That works fine, the string (str) sets as 0761234567 just like I want but when i try to replace the text it doesn't work.
I have two textboxes. I type in one of them and the text gets copied in real time into another textbox. There is one catch. I need to replace specific character with something else.
If I enter a quote " in textbox1, it has to be replaced with " in textbox2.
I started with something like the below code, but obviously this does not work (tried different stuff - this is for demonstration only). In the example below 'a' represents " , and 'b' represents "
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyUp(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyUp
TextBox2.Text = TextBox1.Text

I have two lines of text which have long space (more like 14-15 spaces) before the actual text. I have tried simple replace to split and merge but nothing is working. I have also tried trim and the worst thing is that ASCII gives code of 32. But nothing works. Here is the text :
your heartburn symptoms Certain foods, such as fat, chocolate, caffeine and alcohol can aggravate heartburn symptoms 1 Certain foods (BTW it's not like it looks it is. In my actual richtextbox, when I select the space it gets selected as one big piece of space like a tab and i have also tried replacing vbtab but no use)

I have code to write xml file but unfortunately the database had field name with sapce eg. "form no" but when the xml file saves it converts to

View 3 RepliesWhile my user is typing text into a textbox i want the characters " to be replaced with ' '. The thing is, when i put ' ' in the replace code, it thinks it is a comment so i cannot run the code without producing an error.Also in my multitext box, everytime i write text and hit ENTER, save and then load it back again, the last line ends with a comma, so:
Line 1
Line 2,
When the text is written to the file i read from, it will show like this:
"Line 1Line 2",
So i need a way of trimming ", when the apostrophe " and the comma , are together. My code already trims "".
Is it possible to replace string characters using the delimiter and limit of a split function?
For example you have this string "1,1,1,1,1"
I wish to replace sentence number 2 into the string "2" between the "," character so that will be limit number 1.
So the result would be "1,2,1,1,1".
I am working on a program and for one of my features, I need to replace all spaces in a program with - (dashes.) Is there a way in which I can do this?
Example:
Start String = "The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plain."
End String = "The-rain-in-Spain-falls-mainly-in-the-plain."

Is there a simple way to remove reserved characters from a string without looping through it and testing each character? I want to remove <>:/?|? from strings that are used for folder and file names.
View 3 Repliesi want to add a space every 5 characters of a string. My code below able to do that only for those character in the beginning. For those at the back, it never insert the spacing.

I'm using the Oracle command dbms_output.get_line to retrieve output from a stored procedure. Once my code runs the command, I'm retrieving the results through a buffer string, 32000 bytes long.Inevitably, this string will have Oracle line breaks (chr(10) and chr(13)) in it that I'd like to replace with Environment.NewLine so I can display the output in a standard Winforms textbox.Here is the code I've been using - I don't recall exactly where I got the Oracle command right now, but if I find it, I'll add the link.
Dim cmdGetOutput As New OracleCommand("declare " & _
" l_line varchar2(255); " & _
" l_done number; " & _

I Have a textbox that gets filled automaticaly. What I need is when the text is 5 characters .I need a space in between the 4th and 5th characters.
I know how to limit the size of the string
TextBox.Text.Substring(0, 5) not sure how to place a space when there is 5 characters.
I'll explain the scenario. I have a list containing character list and it's corresponding unicode characters(copied from CharMap and pasted in VB editor).
For example:
Text = Unicode --> Unicode character
---------------------------------------
K = U+004A --> J

What I would like to do is compress up to 200 characters of text to fit into a storage space of 30 bytes (or less). I would prefer to do the compression without creating files.
View 3 Replieshow to change the kerning (space between characters) in vb.net? For example, i would like to change "STRING" to "S T R I N G". If possible i would like to be able to create my own font where i can specify the kerning as i wish!
View 2 RepliesWhen I typed Private Sub cmdAbc_(Click) and pressed Enter key the first 12 characters erase leaving cmdAcc_(Click) and the cursor on the next line. Then pressing the up arrow or space bar restores the erased characters. This problem makes coding a program impossible. Programs I created before the problem arose do run successfly, but the code for those programs displays with missing characters.

How would i get a certain text inside a textbox to equal that text space to space or null to space?
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
If Textbox1.Text.StartsWith(Textbox2.Text + " ") And Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(Textbox2.Text) Then
Textbox1.Text = Textbox1.Text.Remove(0, Textbox2.TextLength)
Textbox3.AppendText("a")
End If
Btw: after i finish this step my project will be finished!
Im converting a database file and Im trying to strip the A0 (enter) out of it and replace it by <br />
[Code]......
Bit of a strange one here,, We have developed a program and deployed it with a Visual Studio InstallerShield wizard, nothing really complicated its one exe along with the DLL required to access MS Access 2007 Databases.
The database itself is located on a server so not deployed with the program. Once installed it all runs absolutly fine with no problems. Now If I rebuild the program from VS without any changes to the code what-so-ever then get the exe for the program out the 'Release' folder and overright the one on my local machine where its installed I can still run the program but the second its asked to interact withe the database its comes up with the OLEDB12 error basically saying I don't have the provider installed or registered.
I'm reading a text file that has ZPL language for sending strings to a Zebra printer. Each line has one parameter that is replaced with a value. However, the line posted below has multiple parameters that need to be replaced with values.
'''''Line from text file
^FO005,005^A0R,035,025^FD(01)90723236{strLabelNumber}{intCheckDigit}(3201){strNetWeight}(11){strProductionDate}(21){strOrg}{strBoxNumber}^FS
[code]....
I can replace one parameter with one value using string.replace, but how would I continue to process the rest of the string? Would I replace the first parameter then reevaluate the string again to find another parameter until no more parameters are found?
In my current program I need to be able to copy a text file, renaming it to default.txt, and overwriting the existing default.txt.
View 3 RepliesDo we have nay .NET framework classes to replace the following API calls?
CreateWindowEx
GetWindowText
ShowWindow
SendMessage
GetWindowRect
Basically we have migrated our application from VB6 to .NET and used same API calls in .NET as well.
Now the time has come to replace all API calls to .NET framework classes.
We used those API calls to validate textboxes by popping up a temporary error message box next to textbox object. After few seconds, the error message box disappears by itself or on loosing the focus of textbox.
If we can use the similar functionality of .NET, then there will be less code changes
I've got two programs, one is the main and the other is the updater. So far iv'e got it so that the main program checks for an update by comparing its version number with the latest one that's stored as a text file on the server. If there's a newer one, the update program is started and the main one closed. The update program will then use a web browser component to navigate to the download link and download the new version. The only problem I'm having at the moment is, How can I get the new downloaded version to replace the current one in Program Files? and will this cause permission problems?
View 10 RepliesI created a setup project along with my main program everything compiles ok and I'm able to install a successfully. The problem I am experiencing is when I try to install over the previous version. I have set the setup property RemovePreviousVersion to TRUE , DetectNewerInstalledVersion to TRUE and I also increment the Version number and choose Yes when prompted to automatically change the ProductCode.
What I find is that when I install my program, the date on a subfolder changes, I don't expect the dates of the support files to change. but I do expect the date of my main .exe file to change. Unfortunately it stays the same. Running the program also shows that this file was not updated. I have read the MSDN articles on this but cannot figure it out.
Sorry if this seems like I haven't searched, however I have. Maybe I'm not understanding something or maybe I just haven't found what I need. Anyway my question is this. How would I find multiple strings in a text file and replace them? So far I've been able to find out how to replace a single string with:
