how do i save everything thats in a listbox and save dialog shows extensions like .txt .text .html .htm .url types and it writes to where you save it too also check path files would be awesome.

The problem is that if I save a file I get "myfile.GDL" if I overwrite that I get a new file "myfile.GDL.GDL" ect.the other problem being that the filtering in the windows save/open dialog wont show .GDL files unless I select "all files".
I'm using the FileSaveAs dialog control to allow the user to select a filename to save a file either as a doc file, an rtf file or a pdf file (that part was easy).However, after a bit of testing, it seems that the file extension doesn't automatically change when selecting the different file types.If the filename in the dialog is Foo.doc and I select FileType *.pdf and click "Save", my app still tries to save the file as a doc type.Virtually every other MS app automatically changes the extension to match a selected file type from the Office Suite to Paint. here's my code:

it shows up correcntly on the datagrid view though with the same code above expect the bit in bold changed. How would I get the data to show on the listbox?
I have it set so when button3 is clicked that the listbox displays the textfiles in a designated folder.[code]Now what I would like to have happen is a way for: Selected listbox2.item (A.txt, B.txt, or C.txt) read the selected textfile into Textbox1.text(I want to click on A, B, or C and have it just open/read that textfile into the textbox.)I have a feeling this is something simple - but for some reason I am having trouble grasping it.

I can populate the ListBox with just the .mpg files but I would like to know how I can remove the other file types should I put the whole lot in.Also, presumably using similar coding, it it posssible to highlight all lines with a particular extension?

But sometimes the save dialog is not appearing because it loads buried under other pre-existing windows, which have to be minimized in order to find it. Is there any way to force this dialog to be on top?

View 4 RepliesI am having trouble with some code I am writing to handle an Excel spreadsheet. The idea is that the dialog box is displayed which invites the user to select an Excel spreadsheet. Once they have done that, it is opened and a separate function checks to see whether Sheet1 exists returning Nothing if it is not found. The intention being the try/catch block picks it up and gracefully does nothing. The problem is that when the function returns nothing, the dialog box is still displayed and the sub doesn't seem to exit. [Code]

I have to enter certain values in a particular column in datagridview and continue with my calculations.At this stage I wan to save my file with the data I have entered so far. Basically on my form I have a listbox containing data. Under the listbox I want to place a button named "btn_PrintData" or something to that effect. The user will click this, the print dialog box would come up and bingo they could print the contents of the listbox.

This didn't happen in Express 2005 as far as I remember.
