Ive got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

I am trying to read from a file that was created with a stream writer the names line from the text file that contains data for name, phone number, pager number, cell number, voice mail, and email.What I need to do is read and load the names from the file into a list box, and then from the list box be able to choose each name and have the information (phone, pager, cell, etc.) show up in text boxes that goes with the specific name.

View 1 RepliesI have a text file 'source'. I want to skip 4 lines then grab the 17th through 33rd characters and assign them to a variable. Then drop down to the 9th line and grab the 10th through the 19th character and assign them to a variable. Then skip to the 27th line and write each line to another file with these two variables appended to the end of each line. I can write the lines to another file easy enough but I'm not sure about skipping around from line to line or grabbing the variables.

The second problem I have is I cannot save the primary key.
Assume that I have these:
Table name: tCustomer
Fields:
ID Datatype [Text]

Now, the user fills in the form. The ID cannot be edited by them where it's automatically counts the number of customer in database and give the id. For example, I already have 3 customers in the database so when I add new Customer, it will be 4 for the ID.
When I click save, it shows me the message of "Index or primary key cannot contain a Null value." I have set an input mask for my Customer. So, can I make it to save in a format like CT001, CT002, CT003 automatically?

View 3 RepliesI have a link on a VB.net aspx page that needs to open a folder in a subdirectory of a web site and provide read and write permissions so that files can be copied into and read from as well as deleted. ONLY from this folder.I have this funtionality working on a dev and demo PC but they are both on my domain. Clicking the link opens Windows Explorer and I can copy /cut & Paste, etc.The public/production PC is on the LAN, but not part of the domain. I know there are ways to allow folder read/write permissions on a public server like this but I am not too sure on the safest way to do this. The upside, the only users that need to have read/write/delete access are employees. Forms Authentication, ASP Membership directs non-employees to other pages within the site. Likewise, the membership directs employees to an admin section of the site.

Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.
