VS 2010 Allow User To Find An Image File And Put Into A Form
Dec 31, 2010
Finished with my overlay program. Now I want to give users the ability to show their own images. [URL] That is an example of the program. Currently on the right I just have a drop down box with that image tied to a form. I want to have a blank form that allows people to select from files on their own computer to be displayed. Edit: Just realized the print screen didn't work (well, obviously it worked) but it didn't capture my overlay. Will try to take another. Let me know if you have any questions,

1. I can't find the file which reflects changes to user settings. This might be because I just can't find it (I can see a bunch of user.config files but they are all empty - weird!), or...
2. I'm not actually saving them when I think I am.
Regarding 2. - do I need to invoke
Is this all I need? And if so, why are my user.configs empty?

It is very easy to move your cursor to a specific coordinate but my question here is how do you move your cursor to an image? Now what this would involve doing is importing an image so the program understands it, then finding that image on your screen (maybe through RGB colors). How exactly do you do this? What is the procedure?
Say I want to import this image: Now I want the program to find that image on the screen (THE START BUTTON) and then move my cursor on it.
so cursor.position = new point(the image)

I'm trying to make a program for a school assessment in VB express 2010 using databases. The program essentially has a panel for uploading an image with a name string and an author string, which it then stores in a database. You can then search the database using the name or author string and find pictures that fit the criteria.

Is there a way to tell the DISPLAY size of an image in a picture box? If the PictureBox.SizeMode=Zoom, the picture sometimes is not displayed as big as the picture box is, and is sometimes displayed smaller, or larger, than the actual image is. I just want to know what size it is actually displaying as.

My program runs under a limited account, and uses impersonation to access admin codeI also have a program in the same folder, that my program runs sometimes when it exitsBoth exe files are in the same folder in the "Program Files" folderIf I try to run the other file, I get a not found error. If I Raise the first program to admin (even though it should already have admin rights due to impersonate) it can run the second file.1. I don't want to raise to admin.2. I'm using the full path and file name to the file.3. That do i need so that dot net can find the file so that it runs.

I am brand new to VB and been advised it might be the best thing to use for my problem, so here goes. I need to be able to scan a machine for all excel and access db files and list them by name and last accessed time. I would like to be able to do this in bulk so more than 1 machine at a time but thinking it my be best to do each machine seperately.
When I have the data I need it to be exported in a list to either excel or a text file or anything really. Als if possible how would I add the machine name to the list so I know which one i have scanned. I have been searching the forums and google but think I am getting more confussed as this is a whole new world for me.

I am already familliar with applying an image to a form background. My application has many in it, but I want to give the user the option of browsing for an image of their own to apply to a form. I don't intend to save the images as defaults or anything. Just the option to browse and apply to a form.

I have a peculiar error in a Visual Basic 2010 Express that doesn't seem to cause any problems, but it's there every time I open this particular project. It's a Windows Forms Application. If I do a Build function on the project, the error message goes away. But if I close the project and re-open it, the error is back again. Here's the error as it appears in the Error List at the bottom of the screen:[code]

This is well documented and easy to accomplish in Access, but how does one accomplish this in Visual Basic 2010 on a form designed in Visual Studio that is bound to a SQL Server database?
The idea is to create a combobox that holds 2 columns - a primary key value and a unique value such as a [Company Name] or a [Student Name]. The user would then find the appropriate record within the combobox and the code behind the combobox control would then perform a .findfirst method that would NOT filter out all other records, but would rather use selectedvalue primary key column value to move to the selected record.
I am currently getting into VS 2010 & revisiting VB having been programing in ACCESS & VBA for years. In the Access/VBA environment it is very common to have to find a given record on a given form using this method, but it would appear to be poorly documented if in fact not commonly used in the VB.NET/VS community.

I'm trying to make a toolkit of all the software that I use to do virus removals, PC Tune-Ups etc.. The issue that I am having is I cannot get the program to execute. For Example: I have created a small program with several buttons on it that I would like to execute specific programs that I have when they are Clicked. If I Click the 'Combofix' button, I would like 'Combofix' to start.
On my computer all the button functions work properly they execute the program that i have coded them to execute just fine on MY COMPUTER. However, when I publish the program and migrate all the publication to another computer the buttons do not work properly. My first thought is that I do not have them directed properly. As if the program does not have the other software (combofix) being copied with it.
This is the Error that I get - 'The system cannot find the file specified.'
This is the directory that i am using - Private

I'm using VB 2010, accessing a MS Access database. I have constructed a simple Windows Form returning data from the db, one field of which has a reference to an image I'm trying to display together with the data from each individual record.
I have a field with a product number, that matches the jpg file name (ie, the product number 5505 matches an image that I want to display, namely 5505.jpg). I've even created a new field in the db called 'Image', that contains the full name 5505.jpg.
So, I've connected to the db with an OleDbAdapter, and all the data fields are displayed via bound textboxes. I've been able to display a single 'set' image with a PictureBox, but I'm not sure how the make the connection between the returned data (txtSearchImage which is, say, '5505.jpg'), and getting the Windows Form to display this.
Am I on the right track using a PictureBox? I've tried binding this via the PictureBox properties to the relevant data field, but (obviously) it doesn't make the connection to the image file on my hard drive.
Here's my code so far:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub btnSearchKits_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSearchKits.Click
' The following line passes the value the user enter for state

How would I go about reading a textfile, finding values and using the values in the program? Now I want the program to read the text file, find [1], use the first line after [1] as value for a variable, and the second line as value for another variable. After that I will run some code with the values and then do the same thing again for [2] etc.
