View 6 RepliesIt is very easy to move your cursor to a specific coordinate but my question here is how do you move your cursor to an image? Now what this would involve doing is importing an image so the program understands it, then finding that image on your screen (maybe through RGB colors). How exactly do you do this? What is the procedure?
Say I want to import this image: Now I want the program to find that image on the screen (THE START BUTTON) and then move my cursor on it.
so cursor.position = new point(the image)
I'm trying to make a program for a school assessment in VB express 2010 using databases. The program essentially has a panel for uploading an image with a name string and an author string, which it then stores in a database. You can then search the database using the name or author string and find pictures that fit the criteria.
View 2 RepliesFinished with my overlay program. Now I want to give users the ability to show their own images. [URL] That is an example of the program. Currently on the right I just have a drop down box with that image tied to a form. I want to have a blank form that allows people to select from files on their own computer to be displayed. Edit: Just realized the print screen didn't work (well, obviously it worked) but it didn't capture my overlay. Will try to take another. Let me know if you have any questions,
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to tell the DISPLAY size of an image in a picture box? If the PictureBox.SizeMode=Zoom, the picture sometimes is not displayed as big as the picture box is, and is sometimes displayed smaller, or larger, than the actual image is. I just want to know what size it is actually displaying as.

I have a program that someone else designed the form on and sent to me to populate the code. I am not sure what could have been done to cause this problem, hoping for a quick oversight on my part. There are several fields of textboxes that the user enters numbers in. Normal behavior for textboxes is when you tab to them the current contents are highlighted. On one of these textbox fields, and only that one set of textboxes, the contents are highlighted like normal at first, but after the user edits the content of the textbox, if you tab to it again it will go directly into edit mode instead of highlighting the contents. Each textbox in the field does this individually, so if you just edit one, all the rest will continue to highlight contents until you edit them as well. It appears you don't actually have to change the value of the textbox, just entering edit mode and getting a blinking cursor is enough. I cannot find a difference in the properties of these textboxes compared to the rest.

I've been using VS 2005 for quite some time and will be jumping to VS 2010 shortly. Are there any gotchas to be concerned about in making that transition? Is this a side by side install?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to use a free 3rd-party DLL (SmartWIM.DLL - Smartdeploy Imaging Component) which is, essentially, a COM wrapper for the WIMGAPI DLL for creating images of Windows drives. You have to register the dll with REgSVr32 of course Now, included with the installation package is a VBS that does a CreateObject for the SmartWIM object. When I use the VBS I can successfully create an image with the CaptureImage method. However, when I convert the same code to VB.NET and called exactly the same method, the CaptureImage method "hangs".By that I mean it successfully creates an image file but then doesn't do anything else. I am at loss to understand why it would work when run via a VBS and not work in a VB.NET Console application?
View 2 RepliesI always used to define variables like Dim xxxx As yyyyy. In the tutorials I'm looking at though they do Private Const xxxxx As yyyyy. I wonder just what is the difference here? What is the significance of this change? What am I actually doing with 'Dim' and what is this Private Const doing different?
View 12 RepliesI have been trying to make a image recognition function for a program I am making. I am having a hard time getting it to work. It does find the image, but it says pixels don't match after going so far.
The Code below works partially. It will output the program screen as Print.bmp
Will load prizes.bmp
But when it compare the images it exits after half way through like it doesn't match and ouputs test2.bmp as part of the prizes.bmp with a black area in it.
Module ImageFunctions
Public Declare Function PrintWindow Lib "user32" Alias "PrintWindow" (ByVal hwnd As IntPtr, ByVal hDC As IntPtr, ByVal nFlags As UInt32) As Boolean

View 4 RepliesI am trying to calculate the difference between 2 times.
So far I have 4 labels.
Label1 = Current date and time.
Label2 = Contains the exact time that the application was last closed.
Label3 = Contains the exact time that the application was opened.
Label4 = I want this label to say how much time in seconds had elapsed between the application last being closed and the application being opened again, in other words the difference in seconds between label 2 and label 3.
Below is what I have done so far, but despite repeated efforts I can't seem to find a way of getting the time difference to show in label 4?

I am looking to create an application that uses a remote mysql database, takes a picture from a live video stream, and also interfaces with an RS232 weighing scale. I'm just looking for a one or two sentence definition on what the huge differences are between VB Express and Standard.
I am a PHP developer and I have never worked with VB before (well maybe since high school 10 years ago). I am looking to either use vb or c++ to create this, but I have limited knowledge of any programming outside of web programming.
I have dowiloaded vb 2008 express and cannot find the msdn image library. I go to where the intellisense tells me to go and the image folder is empty. Is there a way to download the appropriate library.
View 1 RepliesOk, so I have a webbrowser that loads a flash page, and there is some text there, which I want to compare to another image.
I have checked for server communication and there is none when you press the button.
So I want to know if it's possible to (A) Find an image on the web browser (B) Find RGBs of (x,y)s on the screen and compare them to their values?
It is possible to find the points of a part of image example, do I have a photography of a castle where there is a flag, manage to find where is the flag positioned to runtime?

I made a picture box and imported an image named Title.jpg. Later I made adjustments to the picture and imported it again without deleting the original(mistake). The new one had the name automatically changed to Title1.jpg. So I deleted the original image from resources and renamed Title1.jpg back to Title.jpg.
Now I got two problems. First, only Title.jpg is on the solution explorer, but Title1.jpg(along with Title.jpg) still pops up on the resource list when I click on Image property of the picture box. There's only the name and no picture, and I don't see a delete option. How do I get rid of it? Second, even though I changed the image to the new Title.jpg in the picture box, the old one is displayed when running the app. What's up with that?
I have a DataTable with two DateTime columns: "start_time" and "end_time".Now, I want to add a third column that calculates the difference between the two DateTimes. But I can't seem to figure out how. I've tried to set the .Expression-value to "start_time - end_time", but it says that "-"-operator is not allowed on DateTime.
