Ok the problem is with this Calc.DateLongToDateShort(tempxmlnodelist(j).Item(" _date").InnerText) < Date.Now Then If the innertext is a correct date, then the equation suceeds, however when the innerText is blank, which sometimes it will be, it throws exception cannot convert "" to Date. Now this makes sense of course. I am wondering if there is a "simple" way to avoid this error, without needing to add lines such as:

I am grabbing an HTMLElement from a browser object and then using getElementById to grab the element I want. When the element is grabbed into the HtmlElement object double quotes around attributes like <input type="checkbox" name="test1" /> becomes <input type=checkbox name=test1>.It is removing the double quotes and backslash from the HTML available in the HtmlElement. Is there anyway to get the HTML element from Visual Basic .NET code and keep the true HTML formatting?
View 1 RepliesSay I have a Framework 4.0 project that is referencing a class library targeting 3.5. The project will simply not build. It won't give me any valid error message it will just act as though the reference does not exist.
Projects that were working like this in Visual Studio 2008 are no longer working in 2010. Took me forever to figure out what there error is. If I remove the project reference and add it back the intellisense lights up and you can tell a variable referenced in the class library is found. But as soon as you build the project everything is lost. My using statements get underlined, references to the variable all turn grey and project fails to build saying the class cannot be found. Once I make the class library 4.0 as well everything builds. I get the same issue between 4.0 client profile and 4.0 as well.
I have an XML file I need to parse, but only for the text, not the HTML. Here's an example of a node:

As you can see, the CDATA has HTML code in it, so when I do element.Value I also get the tags. Is there any simple way to get just the text?

View 2 RepliesI have some code in VB.Net that I've been using for years that has been working fine, that is until I upgraded to Internet Explorer 9. The essence of code is below. In IE8 or earler, the code works. In IE9, when it tries to execute Br.Document.Body.innerText (or .innerHTML), I get an exception "Public member 'innerText' on type 'DBNULL' not found." When I add Br to the Watch window and hit + several times to get to inerText, it actually shows the text, but if I add Br.Document.Body.innerText to Watch, it returns DBNull as the value.Because of this problem, I removed IE9 and reverted back to IE8, and the code works fine. Of course, I would eventually prefer to upgrade to IE9, but this bug needs to be fixed first.

I am trying to get vb.net to select a single node by id. I then want get all of the childnodes within the id and place them in to textboxes. see code below:

If I take the following XML:

and call the Trim() method on the InnerText of the password node, it Trims it properly, but If I modify the fragment to look like this:

<user>user</user>
<password>pass
I can't get the Trim() method to work, pass with the spaces removed is return as pass (It has a single space at the end). I looked at the watch window and when I doubnle click the value, it shows it as:
"pass" & vbLf & ""
Whenever I try and get the InnerText of an element using an XmlDocument, it throws a NullReferenceException. Here is the code below:

i have this to basically complete a form i used getelementid but it never completes i think its due to the form type, on my first button in webbrowser1 i have similiar code which logs me in and it works fine although this form is a <form id="form" enctype="multipart/form-data"> form, should this stop me from completing it with .innertext ? due to the enctype? i would also like to be able to user innertext and take it from a TextBox9.text

What I am trying to do is to get the captcha from the website and display it in a picturebox on the application so the user can view the captcha, solve the captcha and then the app post is back to the service for a response.

I used advice from this site to set the DoubleBuffering property of a Panel to true.url...However, I don't see my new control in my toolbox. To get by I have drawn regular panels in my designer window and then altered the designer file to my new class. This causes headaches though when the designer doesn't open correctly (sometimes it works, other times I get a "variable is undeclared, unassigned error)..How do I get a simple custom control into my toolbox?
View 5 RepliesI have a htpc project that I am working on. The main program loads dll plugins which are basically other win forms. On each of these forms, including the main program, I use a picturebox (a double buffered picturebox) for the background image and then draw everything on it by hand. Whenever I load the form from the dll and show it, I get a weird flicker. It looks like it is the previously used double buffer. Is there any way to clear the background double buffer before the flicker? Or am I going in the wrong direction?

I have written this code and tried running it but I am getting errors in the code segments below. The error says "conversion from string to double is invalid". whereas the calculation for 'y' is an addition so should not be giving the value it is giving at the moment. I was wondering if it someone could help me solve this problem. I have a full screen application with a panel in the center which is used to display different user controls and screens when the user uses the app.However, I have a rather large gradient image set as my form's background and it causes the panel to flicker every time controls are added. I find that when the background image is removed the flicker goes away. How can I keep the background image but eliminate the flicker? My form is already double buffered.
