Xml.innertext To Date - Cannot Convert When Innertext Is Blank
Apr 19, 2010
Ok the problem is with this Calc.DateLongToDateShort(tempxmlnodelist(j).Item(" _date").InnerText) < Date. Now Then If the innertext is a correct date, then the equation suceeds, however when the innerText is blank, which sometimes it will be, it throws exception cannot convert "" to Date. Now this makes sense of course. I am wondering if there is a "simple" way to avoid this error, without needing to add lines such as:
I have an XML file I need to parse, but only for the text, not the HTML. Here's an example of a node:
<highlights>

Classy & elegant purse hooks

Choose from various styles

Stable and reliable

Makes a great gift!

</highlights>
As you can see, the CDATA has HTML code in it, so when I do element.Value I also get the tags. Is there any simple way to get just the text?
Okay so this is my html line with the ID: <id="accounttype" class=inline-block"><?=$_SESSION['accounttype']?>
this is what it grabs
For Each Element As HtmlElement In Browser.Document.GetElementsByTagName("a") If Element.GetAttribute("class") = "account-points" Then Pointcount.Text = Element.InnerText
I have some code in VB.Net that I've been using for years that has been working fine, that is until I upgraded to Internet Explorer 9. The essence of code is below. In IE8 or earler, the code works. In IE9, when it tries to execute Br.Document.Body.innerText (or .innerHTML), I get an exception "Public member 'innerText' on type 'DBNULL' not found." When I add Br to the Watch window and hit + several times to get to inerText, it actually shows the text, but if I add Br.Document.Body.innerText to Watch, it returns DBNull as the value.Because of this problem, I removed IE9 and reverted back to IE8, and the code works fine. Of course, I would eventually prefer to upgrade to IE9, but this bug needs to be fixed first.
I am trying to get vb.net to select a single node by id. I then want get all of the childnodes within the id and place them in to textboxes. see code below:
and call the Trim() method on the InnerText of the password node, it Trims it properly, but If I modify the fragment to look like this:
<security> <user>user</user> <password>pass
I can't get the Trim() method to work, pass with the spaces removed is return as pass (It has a single space at the end). I looked at the watch window and when I doubnle click the value, it shows it as:
Is there a way to get the innertext from similar a hrefs from a page on the webbrowser? For example, say that I want to get fuzzy penguin and the numbers after it out of
I cannot get the messagebox to show up on my screen when the program checks the text fields on the webpage that says "this is the test".
Here its the code: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If WebBrowser1.Document.Forms(0).InnerText = "this is the test" Then MessageBox.Show("worked!") End If End Sub
How to make the messagebox to show up on the screen when the program checks the text fields on the webbrowser by on the webpage?
see this codes scrapes all href links and check if it contains "/file/" to save it but I get duplicate links saved so If i can change this code to work some how with Innertext("More") I will have no duplicatestried to configure it to work with innertext it just doesn't fit the way I think it should ;/and if anyone can add how can I remove duplicated urls on my txt file that would be really nice I might need it
Dim links As System.Windows.Forms.HtmlElementCollection Dim b As String links = WebBrowser1.Document.Links
im trying to complete some data to upload to my site via my program the following code Private Sub Button11_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button11.Click

i have this to basically complete a form i used getelementid but it never completes i think its due to the form type, on my first button in webbrowser1 i have similiar code which logs me in and it works fine although this form is a form, should this stop me from completing it with .innertext ? due to the enctype? i would also like to be able to user innertext and take it from a TextBox9.text
how do i get around this to complete these values, my code shows no errors it just navigates to the page and dosent complete anything, button1 logins fine and the code is almost identical, except for obvious differences http address etc code edited slightly posted old unfunctional version, this is now what i have, still unfunctional but makes more sense i think
I am trying to extract a portion of text from a web page that is generated by a Java script. [URL] A glance at the source of the page shows the actual display content is not directly represent in the HTML Source. I am trying to grab the auction information in the body and not the menus on the right. Can someone point me to the right object model- methods and properties?
I have a few date fields on a form. no matter what i've tried in the properties, the form still loads and there is a default date in there, how do you get rid of this?
SQL Table Column Data Type is Date; NULLS allowed,Input to MaskedTextBox set up as: ##->&<&<&-## so typical input is 01-Jan-10, etc. When the MaskedTextBox is filled and column populated, the data in the SQL table uses the format 2010-01-01
The form does not like a blank MaskedTextBox; therefore, when filled - no problem. When left empty, it has a problem. So I wrote this code to populate the column regardless, and will filter out the 2001-01-01 entries in associated reports using Report Viewer. This is less than ideal, so I would like to know if there is a way to make the column as NULL instead of "dummy date" of 2001-01-01?
I'm a new member to this site, and I have been searching for a solution to this problem.. Although I have found variations in the problem, nothing has seemed to work for me. Just started programming last year.
I am trying to populate text boxes in a form based on information from an Access Database. Everything is working, except when there are empty field values; the program then crashes because a DBNull value is returned. I set up an if statement to check the index as the rows are read for DBNull values, the problem is How do I actually change the value in the field from DBNull to a blank string ("") ?? Everything I try gives me an error, most often saying something about setting up an object. The problem happens within my if statement of the do loop...I'm thinking maybe I need to set up parameters ? Or an actual edit session within a datarow variable?[code]...
I'm using the ErrorProvider in VB.Net (2005) which is associated with a BindingSource that is bound to a custom object that I have created. This custom object contains a date field that has a "Date" data type that. I am using a "TextBox" to bind the date field in my form. My issue is, whenever the TextBox loses focus and is blank, "String not recognized as a valid DateTime" is displayed by the ErrorProvider and the focus can't be changed to any other control on the Form. It's good that the ErrorProvider validates entries on Date fields by default (I didn't set up my custom object to display this particular error for the date), but it should allow blank values. I want the user to be able to have a blank date with no error message displayed. How can this be done using a Date field bound to a TextBox?
I have a field called PODate & TextBox txtPODate.text. It saves/updates fine when the txtPODate is filled. But when the txtPODate is blank, it throws an error. The problem is that I can't enter date for each record unless I got Purchase requisition converted into Purchase Order. Once it is converted to PO, I need to enter the date to update that filed. So, how can I make my program to accept blank date field.
I have a date field bound to a textbox. If I make any changes to the textbox, I get "stuck" in the field unless I put a valid date value. All I want to do is set the date textbox to blank and move on to the next field, but I can't. I am eternally "stuck" in the field unless I put a valid date value.

I did several hours of research, but looks like there is really no solution to this problem... Is this true?
How can I get this to happen? I googled around and it seems setting the CUSTOM FORMAT to " " when the field is null will work but not for a BOUND datetimepicker.
I am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:
I am Importing a Excelsheet(xls) in to my Application, but the date and Number column showing blank in dataset when comes to application. The values are there in Excel. Any other way to import the excel sheet to application, so that i should get all the values same as there in the excel sheet.
