VS 2010 : Resizing Two Panels?
May 2, 2010I am using vb 2010 and I have a question about anchor. I have two panels side by side, I anchored them both: top, left, right. But when I resize it the left panel goes behind the right panel. Isn't there a way so that when I resize, both panels grow parallel?

Apr 27, 2012I've set every setting I could find on the DataGridView to a specific font size however when the form it resides on loads I step through the code and put my cursor over the DataGridView1.Font.Size and it always shows 8.25 (I've set everything to 18).
What I'm trying to do is resize the DGV on load of the form to a percentage based on the size of the form relative to the size of the screen. Everything else on all of my other forms are resizing correctly but the DGV is not.

Apr 16, 2012Having a bit of a nightmare with my application. I have developed my application in 1366 x 768. When moving onto other resolutions, the form looks totally wrong. Is there a way to have the application force itself to open up in a box that will fit the screen?(I'm more than happy to pay someone today or tomorrow who could look at making sure that my form gracefully up / down scales). This really is pretty urgent in that respect. If you have the ability to gracefully scale a form up / down and can do so for me either today or tomorrow, let me know of your price. (Possibly a bit naughty to pop this into the forums but I am willing to pay to get this sorted asap).

Mar 23, 2011I have a Form (Form1) that contains a Panel inside the form. Inside that panel I want to load another form (Form2). This all works fine, however when I resize Form1 I want Form2 to resize aswell. The panel resizes fine but Form2 will not resize. Here is the code for Form1

VS 2010 Resizing Datagrid Properties
Jan 14, 2011I have a datagrid and load data from a database in and can't find thesolution for a couple of propblems..
1) The columns from the DB is loaded in to the datagrid but the width of each column is very small and needs resizing to view all data everytime it loads. Can I programmically make the colums show wider annd fill the datagrid?
2) I load the columns using SELECT col1,col2,col3 from table; then load that in to the datagrid. col1 is a primary key so has to be loaded as I perform an update of edited data at the end. Can I somehow hide col1 so it does not show in the datagrid?

Mar 20, 2011Where is the best place to resize a control on a form when a form is resized?....I'm currently using the Form1_SizeChanged event and seems to work ok. Also is there any need to check in the forms resize event if the form is in a minimized state before resizing controls?.,.. in VB6 if you try to resize a control when the form is minimized you get an error, but I don't see that happening in BV10 Form1_SizeChanged event, does VB10 automatically ignore resizing controls when a form is minimized or something?

May 23, 2010I am creating a simple shape editor, much like the Visual Studio form designer. You can create shapes, select them and move/resize them using drag handles just like in Visual Studio or most other applications (Visio, etc).
I have run into some problems trying to implement a MinimumSize property for the shapes.First of all, this is how I'm resizing the shapes. Each shape has a Resize method, accepting two integers (dx and dy) that represent how much the shape must resize by, and one 'HitStatus', which determines in which direction the resize must take place (for example, from the TopLeft, or Bottom, or BottomRight, etc..)
What it does basically is use a large Select Case statement for the hit status. In each case, it changes the Bounds property of the shape (which determines the location and size), so that it is resized:

This code is what I am using to save image after it is re sized, It will not save the new image, it saves the old image and the old size. I am using a picture box to import the image into, then I am resizing the picture box and the image. But when it is saved it reverts to the original image.

Normal the form is 1080x1024 but i have a few people with laptops that are smaller and there are scroll bars, but it opens too big for the screen and the resizing can only be done in the lower right. May 2, 2011How to make my forms resize automatically. here's the situation. I have my intro screen, which a user may want to maximise. Once this is maximised, the whole program should stay maximised. Again, if the user chooses to restore the window to its default size, the whole program should remain in that default size. However, once the user clicks the button "Press here to start" on the intro screen, the form automatically reverts to its original size if it was maximised. I also need to be able to stretch the contents in the correct ratios to fit the new screen size.

Form Control To Allow Resizing ?
Sep 11, 2011My full screen sized Form is locked in size when I reduce it in size by clicking on the "restore down" [ie] not to the minimized size. I mean "locked in size" by I cannot for instance "grab" it on a corner and to increase or decrease its size. I suspect the control is in the properties window but I cannot find it.

Feb 12, 2011we all know how to dock or anchor controls so that they resize themselves accordingly when a form is resized. It works fine till we have rows of controls on left and right size of the form. But what if have three columns (Columns as in visual sense. I'm not talking about any column control containing other controls) of controls? For example a form having a bunch of controls in the left side, a bunch in the middle and a bunch in the right. There may be a few more bunches in the middle. Now while resizing the form, I want the controls to resize accordingly as well as change their positions to make space for the previous bunch of controls that are resizing.
I mean, while the user increases the form size horizontally, the controls of the second bunch should resize and at the same time they should move right because the controls of the first bunch are increasing horizontally too. When the user decreases the form size horizontally the same thing should occur in the reverse order. I can manage it somehow using nested split-containers but that's too cumbersome. I would like to know if there's some better way to achieve it, like setting some property etc.?
Forms And Resizing In 2008?
Aug 12, 2009Currently, my application is comprised of:a Main Form On this Form, lies an array of User controls, (pardon my terminology, i believe the more proper VB.Net term is Collection of controls). Within these controls are pictureboxes that have distinct graphics drawn on them. When I run this program, no graphics are drawn in the pictureboxes or it appears the graphics are overwritten. Also, it seems that the Form resizes uncontrollably varying in size on the screen and hits an infinite loop. I use the Form_Resize function for updating the size of the form. What could be causing this problem. What is the Paint method used for?Currently, to draw graphics on the Pictureboxes i am using the graphics object. I have two pictureboxes within the usercontrol for toggling back and forth for a more fluid refresh upon property updates.
From my reading, vb.net does not allow the ability to create an array of controls on a form, so I attempted to create an array of controls dynamically to try and stay as close to my vb6 application as possible because my knowledge is limited. This works, from what i can tell I know that in the Upgrade wizard the VB6.Compatiblity reference was used to try and mimic an array of controls, but I wanted to steer away from that and program strictly using VB.Net commands.

MDI Child Forms Resizing
Jan 19, 2011Has anyone ever had or dealt with resizing issues on MDI Child forms? I am working on a VB.Net Windows applciation project I inherited from another devloper. When I took it over the forms had already been designed. There are one MDI Parent Form and two MDI Child Forms. When the application starts up the parent form and one child form open by default. Both the parent form and the child form will maximize, restore, and minimize. Although I have to move the parent form slightly, when it is not maximized I can resize it with the mouse pointer as expected. The child form will not resize and when I move the cursor to the border of the child form I do not even get the mouse pointer. Also, when both the parent and child form are maximized the vertical scrollbar on the child form is no longer displayed.
One potential problem is that there are lots of controls on the child form, which are inside several group boxes. When I comment out the controls, the blank form displays without the vertical scrollbar but will resize with the mouse pointer as expected. When I uncomment the controls the resizing does not work any more. The AutoSize propery on all of the controls is set to True. I tried commenting out the code setting the Autosize property to True on the group boxes only. The result of that is that the resizing still does not work and I lose the vertical scrollbar.I am trying to avoid having to redesign the form completely, however I am running out of alternatives. The project will not pass UAT if the resizing does not work.
